Do colts get cute-ceañeras?

Probably, or they get some sort of equivalent version just for them. It's not like we've seen that many cute-ceaneras anyway. The only one I can even remember off the top of my head is Diamond's.

The Crusaders shared a cute-ceañera when they got their marks. Its possible that its more commonly celebrated than the show alludes to, yet we're not shown very many of them.

I think that colts get an "Rite of Passage" type of celebrations rather than calling it a cute-ceañera.

Well the quinceañera was a celebration originally to celebrate a girl's ascension into woman hood, a time when it would be most accepted for her to be courted by men. But woman receive these celebrations because they are seen as the more important part of the production of the next generation then men. Which is why males don't receive such celebrations for their birthdays. 

 

Even when it comes to sweet sixteen parties, males don't really take part in those either at least not as many as females. Essentially the purpose behind these celebrations at their origins is to allow the girl a night of celebration before she is considered a "woman" when her body is capable of bearing children. 

 

So in reality since men don't participate in these parties which are similar to quinceañeras I don't think they would in MLP.

Given that the cute-ceañera is a celebration of a yong pony getting their cutie mark, I see no reason to assume that they wouldn't get one.  We've only seen one colt get his cutie mark, and we never saw if he got a party or not so there's nothing solid to prove it either way, but I would imagine all ponies get one (if they want one).

And as others have said, we simply haven't even seen many foals having that party, as it's simply not in the scope of the show to show that for anyone other than the CMC, and there's no reason to believe everyone isn't allowed one if they want.

No, it most definitely isn't, that's purely false, and there's no real evidence whatsoever for Equestria being matriarchal or patriarchal. Equestria is gender-egalitarian, and we've never seen any indication that either gender is advantaged, dominant, or privileged. We've seen ponies of both genders in all sorts of positions and careers, no sign of discrimination, both genders have been shown to be equally capable, and there's no real gender roles to speak of. It's pretty clear that they have pretty perfect gender-equality, both de-jure an de-facto, and we've had a full five and counting seasons to observe that.

 

The show DOES give more screentime to female characters (or just the main characters really, and the main protags happen to be mostly female), but this is due to the target audience. It has never portrayed either gender as superior or dominant in their society or anything like that, end of story.

It's a known fact that flurry heart is the first known born alicorn the rest are deemed worthy by celestia. So far there is no evidence towards a prince or male alicorn. Most positions of power are held by females (Mayors and princesses). The only position of power a male character had was Shining armor which is captain of the royal guard (which I believe to be all male). Shining Armor is a prince only through marriage not because he was deemed worthy of such a role. Not saying he isn't worthy just that he wasn't chosen to be a prince like Cadence was chosen to be a princess.

 

The only Prince or king in this case was sombrah who as we know enslaved an entire empire, oh and Discord at one point who could literally turn the world upside down. Which could of been a turning point toward a matriarch mindset since males tend to be more aggressive and conflict driven through genetics of essentially any mammal (being a reason why the guards throughout the show are male)

Although Fancy Pants is not a prince, he was nevertheless described by Rarity as "The most important pony in Canterlot".  We just don't really know what the basis for his importance is.

Well so far as to blueblood all we know through MLP and other sources his residence is within Canterlot, oh we can't say for sure that if he is truly a prince or not since the location he calls home is already in rule by Celestia and Luna.

 

Fancy Pants how ever from rarity's context and his apparent social standing he is simply rich, possibly with his hooves in several chains within the city based around fashion seeing as to how Rarity cared about his opinion so much on her outfits. While money is key to power in america I doubt that's the case for MLP

No, it doesn't lean more on that side. The current alicorns being female means you could technically refer to their government, at least at the top levels, as a matriarchy under one of the definitions, but certainly not their society or anything like that. It's also important to remember that the definition in question for that is simply that the head of state is female though, and technically you could just as easily apply it to the UK, so it's pretty meaningless and does not indicate anything discrimination based or systematic. Furthermore, while we haven't seen a male alicorn, there's no reason whatsoever to assume they couldn't exist, as being an alicorn is primarily gifted through being a good and benevolent leader, something else that is also obviously completely gender-neutral. Starswirl for example almost became one, but as Celestia specifically mentioned, he didn't understand friendship.

 

That's not necessarily to say I expect to see one in the show itself. I'm pretty certain there's no discrimination in becoming an alicorn, as restricting a merit-based position like that would be incredibly sexist, offensive, and their legitimacy would simply be destroyed. The real reason we may not see one in the show itself is because of Hasbro's marketing division, which simply doesn't see them as profitable. The comics are actually a much better candidate to someday ascend, say, Shining Armor, as he's clearly pretty darn qualified, and the comics have given him a good amount of focus that the show just doesn't usually bestow on characters other than the Mane 7 or CMC.

 

And no, the "most positions of power are held by females" argument is nonsense. There aren't many ponies in 'positions of power' in the show regardless of gender. There's the princesses and princes, the mayor of ponyville, and a few others. Some politicians we've seen in the background of some episodes, if you want to count those. It's simply not the scope of the show to go out if it's way to show politicians and other people with similar careers, so our exposure to them is very limited. There's simply no reason to believe that there aren't plenty of ponies in positions of power that we don't see however, of both genders, and there are plenty of socially and economically influential ponies of both genders in the show already.

 

I'm maintaining my position that there's no evidence of a matriarchy and that Equestria is pretty clearly gender-egalitarian.

The fact that there is already princesses ruling Equestria means nothing, in a normal royal family there is no limit to how many princes and princesses there can be.  Just look at the UK's royal family, we have at least seven princes that I know of, and a few princesses as well.

I agree entirely.  This would then suggest that Fancy Pants' importance stems from something other than him simply being rich.
