gaming Fighting game crossovers

What are some fighting game franchises you would like to see crossover with each other? In the vein of Street Fighter X Tekken? Not Smash Bros. or Marvel vs. Capcom fests where the rosters consist of characters from various franchises that may or may not be fighting games or fighting game versions of something else. (eg. Pokken Tournament of that fighting game based on Les Miserables . . . . seriously.)

For the purposes of the question let's just say the various developers involve figure out a way to make the disparate systems balanced and fair, at least as fair what is acceptable for these days.

For me, the first one would be Street Fighter vs. Mortal Kombat.

I find it interesting how Pokken Tournament, despite being developed by Namco and having allusions and gameplay similarities to Tekken, has no actual Tekken characters in it. Not even in a cameo background appearance or something. I guess they felt it wouldn't have been too appropriate (I'm inclined to agree), but I was quite surprised not to see even a Heihachi moment, as they've often done in the past. (Soulcalibur, Ridge Racer, even Smash Court Tennis!)

I wouldn't mind seeing a Dragonball x Naruto game. I know both franchises, especially Dragonball, have had fan crossovers done to death at this point, but I'd still be for seeing the two in an official capacity. The potential for a good story is there, and I think the similarities offer more than enough incentive.

Someone even came up with a hypothetical title: Naruto x Dragon Ball: Storm Budokai :D

I want a fighting game where you have a roster all filled with characters from Mario, Sonic, Megaman, and PAC-MAN. It works like Smash and would be really fun for someone like me.

To use another example of what I mean. Something like Mortal Kombat vs. Killer Instinct. THAT would be kickass. And maybe the above suggestions also would be, but not what I'm talking about.

Nintendo and Capcom are my favorite companies as far as IPs go, and Nintendo Vs Capcom is probably my dream game. Perhaps in a similar vein of SFxT/TxSF?(One in vein of Capcom fighters and one in vein of Smash)

Fair enough, I can understand that Dragonball & Naruto weren't born as fighting games per-se, but it is still a core feature of both, and almost all games based on them have been of the fighting genre.

Soulcalibur vs. Tekken would be interesting. The ultimate battle of weapons (Soulcalibur) vs. pure fighting technique (Tekken). Not sure if that could work in terms of reach for the weapon users though..

Well they did sort of experiment with that in Soul Calibur II. Heihachi was blasted into the past by a piece of Soul Edge and took to fighting the Soul cast. It said in the fluff that he specifically fashioned a pair of gauntlets so that he could still block bladed weapons with his arms.

Very true. All of Heihachi's 'weapons' in that game are just varying sets of gauntlets, and his ultimate weapon is just his bare fists anyway. It could be reasonable to assume that each of the Tekken cast would have their own ways of successfully guarding from weapon strikes. They'd also likely have a speed advantage, and perhaps as a special move they could have the opportunity to disarm their opponent, even temporarily.
