In the final episode of Season 1, Fluttershy totally reminded me of Galadriel from Lord of the Rings when she yells, "YOU WILL LOVE ME!" (something like that!). After that, I began to believe that like Galadriel (those of you who are familiar with Lord of the Rings may know) Fluttershy is only a gentle, sweet mare on the outside. She, like Galadriel, is capable of great evil. She killed a bear (FATALITY! FLAWLESS VICTORY!), won a staring contest against a cockatrice, and made a dragon cry. Galadriel revealed her true colors when Frodo offered her the one ring. I wonder what and/or who will cause Flutter-driel to truly reveal herself.

The stark contrasts in behaviior both express are similar, yes but Galadriel doesn't have a darks side as much as the potential of becoming evil which is why she refuses to take the Ring.

She does have a dark side to her, otherwise she wouldn't be so tempted to take it. She also says that her heart has yearned to have the one-ring. But yes, she isn't completely evil, the potential to do evil is there, though, as you said.

Actually, to be fair, she was just giving it a massage.

Haha, yeah I know, but it certainly didn't look like it. She 'broke' it's neck, for pete's sake! Haha.

Hey now, don't knock it till you've tried it; I for one would not even hesitate to receive a massage Fluttershy style if given the chance... that bear looks pretty freakin' relaxed! B)

As for the similarities, let me first say this; Galadriel doesn't so much have a dark side as simply a corrupt nature in general, as all beings do. The One Ring being the ultimate manifestation of the temptation of sin, Galadriel recognizes that, with her great power but also corrupt nature, there would be great potential to commit harm and do wrong were she to control the Ring.

As for Fluttershy, no, I don't think she has any dark side; but, when compelled by a great enough emergency or task, she will not hesitate to exert her best efforts and do whatever she can, in the most adorable way as possible of course! :)

Oddly, I'm a huge fantasy-science fiction fan, but I have never wanted to read Lord of the Rings. I saw part of the first movie, and it bored me to tears.

Sorry!
