woodgazer 71 July 18, 2016 Share July 18, 2016 At some places in the world, there are "eco villages". Eco as in ecology, and in effect it means a sustainable and mostly self-sustaining village, commonly with people sharing the same ideals.Say there existed plans on founding a Brony Village somewhere. Only persons calling themselves bronies (or pegasisters) would be allowed to live there - along with any offspring of the inhabitants, of course.Would you want to move there?Where in the world would be the best location? How would you want this village to be structured?Would the fact that most bronies identify themselves at men be a problem, for you or in the community?Do you think the inhabitants' talents (cutie marks) could cooperate for common good, like in Equestria?
Vulcan 3,254 July 18, 2016 Share July 18, 2016 (edited) Would you want to move there? Nah, I like the diversity. Don't get me wrong though. I love the Forums, and the folks here are really great! But I think I'd miss my other friends too much. Where in the world would be the best location? Somewhere in the US. I think the large majority of the fan base are from the US and it would just be a bit more convenient for them. How would you want this village to be structured? I don't really know, can't really think of any preference at the moment. Would the fact that most bronies identify themselves at men be a problem, for you or in the community? Initially, I think there would be a much higher proportion of men to women, as such, It'd probably be a pretty big problem o_o Do you think the inhabitants' talents (cutie marks) could cooperate for common good, like in Equestria? I can't really say...but I do know that our fandom includes quite a lot of scholars and talented folks so in my opinion, I think it would be likely. Black Sabbath 2,486 July 18, 2016 Share July 18, 2016 Would you want to move there? Absolutely not. A village just for fans of a certain cartoon sounds way too silly. Do you think the inhabitants' talents (cutie marks) could cooperate for common good, like in Equestria? No, considering that the inhabitants would have nothing more in common than the fact that they like the same cartoon.
Mingan Muon 16 July 23, 2016 Share July 23, 2016 In my opinion, it would end up being more of a roleplay than anything. You could form a mock Equestria, cosplay everything, and do some real life roleplays, kind of like LARP. A real village wouldn't work, for practical reasons. Grepper 3,192 July 25, 2016 Share July 25, 2016 Living in a secluded village with like-minded people sounds kind of cult-like. It is good to be around people who have similar interests, but not if taken to the extreme. To an extent, it is also healthy to be around people who don't share the same opinions or interests. How could you ever know if you are wrong about something if you keep away from anyone who disagrees with you?
idunnomaybe 344 July 25, 2016 Share July 25, 2016 Eco villages ultimately fail... e.g near where i am some leftist billionaire bought A LOT of farmland and founded an Eco city the construction is on going but it looks kind of like this. http://www.e-architect.co.uk/images/jpgs/hamburg/eco_city_hamburg_s210809_2.jpghttp://www.tianjineco-city.com/UploadFile/2011-10-31/201110311732533627.jpgits very sleek and modern i loved rolling green hills with solar plants dotted around with post modern petrol stations and supermarkets made of wood and glass endless fields of bountiful food a sea with fish farms which i love so i tried to buy property there... Apartments were around $500,000, land plots are around $800,000+, (rises the closer you get to the beach front) House and land packages range from $950,000 to $1,500,000. If you buy land to build a house you have to choose VERY, specific designs to fit into the aesthetics of the city and to accommodate water tanks and solar panel roofs. You can't have a car above a certain engine, or emission size, you cant have cats, only dogs, the list goes on... They also are trying to push Vegan only, since the restaurants and Cafes opening up around there are mostly Vegan. and to give you an idea on how big this "city" was supposed to be it was meant to house 500,000 people by 2015 (got nowhere near that) and 1,000,000 by 2030 Needless to say this city which was super hyped up, is failing due to Elitism. Some major fastfood, supermarket, and clothing chains, pulled out of it.... a Brony only village would be the same.

Do you know how many people in Australia are killed each year by venomous spiders... being spotted in peoples cars causing them to swerve and cause accidents? (deaths via venomous spiders directly are actually pretty low, like less then one a year.) It's also hot. Way too hot. Monsoon 1,662 July 25, 2016 Share July 25, 2016 I wouldn't for multiple reasons such as me being separated from my friends and family which would also make me feel slightly home sick to the point where I wouldn't want to be there anymore secondly there would most likely be a population problem where the amount of men would most likely outnumber the women however that could change overtime which presents many variables such as the amount of people leaving and joining the community and how much space there is at the time also it would be too much effort to move to the location of the village which just wouldn't be as productive No
Daring_Do 552 July 25, 2016 Share July 25, 2016 (edited) This goes to show how some bronies are too much in love with their own myth - It's vaguely similar to some religious types. People like the OP present ideas like this because they are honestly convinced that bronies are somehow "better" than the average person, that this fandom somehow has some special moral superiority instead of just being a bunch of people (some nice, some truly awful) who like a gosh dang cartoon. Need I remind you, despite Faust's many merits, it was Hasbro - a corporation - that wanted the theme of the show to be friendship. There *ARE* no shared ideals in this fandom. We've got folks from all walks of life, from all over the political spectrum. No one here even *follows* the generic corporate-mandated kids' show morals MLP espouses. While I disagree with your violent attitude, I echo the idea here. While I wouldn't say that love in a myth is wrong (people spend hours and hours in LOTR lore), I do agree that some bronies seem to purvey their fiction as morally and universally good. Good on a level above other ideas. MLP:FiM is just like any other fictional universe like LOTR or Elder Scrolls. The difference is that MLP has an overtly-friendship-based morality. That, I think, gives rise to the type of people you mention. I do not, however, agree with your last three sentences.
Ziggy + Angel + Rain 11,302 July 25, 2016 Share July 25, 2016 Would you want to move there? No. Where in the world would be the best location? Anywhere I don't live. How would you want this village to be structured? One-room apartment; two bath (I'm not a monster). Would the fact that most bronies identify themselves at men be a problem, for you or in the community? The fact that they identify as Bronies is problem enough. Do you think the inhabitants' talents (cutie marks) could cooperate for common good, like in Equestria? Not if their talents are all fanfic writing and episode analysis. woodgazer 71 August 1, 2016 Author Share August 1, 2016 (edited) This goes to show how some bronies are too much in love with their own myth - It's vaguely similar to some religious types. We've got folks from all walks of life, from all over the political spectrum. No one here even *follows* the generic corporate-mandated kids' show morals MLP espouses. I like your reply, blunt as it may be! Let's break down your theory in smaller bits and think about it? "They are honestly convinced that bronies are somehow 'better'". Also, you included me in this statement. I do admire your ability to know what's in my heart and mind, having read one post that I wrote. I wish you'd explained it better, though. What is "better" than "average people"? Since you know me, you do of course realize I value all human life and have been a supporter of equal rights ever since I was able to grasp what it meant. As you well know, I'm not above thinking some people are douchebags sometimes. That doesn't reduce their intrinsic value as a living person. So by "better", I'm sure you know I don't mean "more merited to be alive". When I think about it (and now I am), I guess I mean (by your words) that "better" means someone who is more caring and less douchey than the average person (whoever that is). In fact, I think having friendship as a guiding principle or beacon WOULD give bronyism, or any fandom for that matter, a level of moral superiority, compared to, for instance, fandoms idolizing emotionless superheroes who overcome obstacles with violence. A careful nibble at breaking up sexism also, to me, seems to be going on, both in the show and in the fandom. And as you say, for yourself and not what you surmise I think, no one follows the "kids' show morals". I'd like to add to that: ... to the letter. You seem worried about people blindly believing in whatever a cartoon tells us. But we're all thinking people here, and we're here for a reason. We all (almost) have a set of morals that obviously emanates from somewhere. I don't believe in Hasbro. But I do feel inspired by the show and the people creating art, music and fiction based on it. Would you say it's wrong to learn stuff and maybe even become a little bit more caring and compassionate person, if the source is a cartoon? Or do you really think that no one changes after watching a show that clearly is loved by so many people? As for a brony village, I don't believe it will ever happen, and I'm not sure whether it would even be a good idea. But it's still fun to read what people think about it. Personally, I'm probably a bit idealistic, but I did so love the atmosphere at Bronycon, and if there was a way to make the outside world seem less cold, angry and violent by surrounding oneself with bronies (you know, the kind of bronies who are "better" than "average people" ), I would like to know it. Prospekt 11,018 August 1, 2016 Share August 1, 2016 Would you want to move there? I like the idea, but I don't think I'd move immediately. I'd wait to see if it turns into a Lord Of The Flies kind of situation, or if it's a community that will actually last without dividing over trivial things. Where in the world would be the best location? Somewhere in the United States that's remote, but still habitable at all times of the year. So no building the village in the Alaskan bush. How would you want this village to be structured? Wouldn't it be cool to use the architecture of Ponyville? I would totally want to live in a Golden Oak Library replica that isn't built out of an existing tree. Would the fact that most bronies identify themselves at men be a problem, for you or in the community? That's one area where the village concept might falter. I'd like more gender diversity so it doesn't feel like one gender is an overwhelming majority. Do you think the inhabitants' talents (cutie marks) could cooperate for common good, like in Equestria? I think so. Don't turn the village into an Our Town replica that suppresses the expression of individual talents. One thing I would like to make clear about the village, is that it cannot be organized like a cult. Too many cult "utopias" have ended in disaster; look up Jonestown and you'll see what I mean. Allow free access from the rest of the citizens of the country. Don't have an overly charismatic leader with a lot of power. In fact, don't have a single leader at all. Use a democratically elected community council of some sort. Now, is any of this practical? No. But it's fun to imagine what it would be like. 1 Signature by Kyoshi

Like a normal town.Would the fact that most bronies identify themselves at men be a problem Well, it would be a problem when the time came to create the next generation. Do you think the inhabitants' talents (cutie marks) could cooperate for common good, like in Equestria? We can't cooperate for common good online, so I would doubt that we could do it in real life. No polar bears and little to no actual residence. We would have to use hydroponics and maybe operate a ship for food, the Falkland islands would be closest. But whatever, it's idea of living away from a big city, not the location that bothered me, n while yes I do prefer colder temps because I'm hot-blooded (meaning I can last in colder temps in shorts n a tshirt, but if it is 27 C, I start getting flushed and flusted and tingy due to the heat) but I personally love the Aussie Outback, it holds many mysteries to it Signature made by Skull Kid OCG Vera - Outcast Gamers Twitch Livestreams https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuzDghzyVjk - •_•
