gaming Nvidia develops their own mod for Fallout 4

So on top of the recently released Nuka World DLC for Bethesda's Fallout 4, it would seem that GPU manufacturer Nvidia have decided to release their own custom mod for the game titled "Vault 1080", and are basically using it to showcase some new volumetric lighting effects that could be utilized by their '1000' series of graphics cards and implemented into future Fallout games or similar titles (Elder Scrolls with that lighting, anyone?).

Now I know this is something that will probably only interest players with top of the line PC systems right now, I know for sure mine couldn't run this without a significant frame rate loss, but my real question here is; What do you think of these companies using mods like this to test new graphical capabilities? Do you think it could be more than just a glorified tech demo? Does it show that you could potentially go back and get much more out of games like this, even after they have started to age in a few years? I personally think it's a nifty feature to take advantage of, to let players themselves experience the effects in a properly finished title rather than just pre-generated imagery or a 'built for display' game that will never actually be released.

Here's a couple of more images from the mod itself. I must say that it definitely lends itself to making the environment much more atmospheric:

This seems interesting. I still need to catch up on previous Fallout 4 DLCs. My PC probably wouldn't be able to handle this though. I'm barley able to run Fallout 4 on it's own. The lighting does look lovely though.

That looks insane! I can run Fallout 4 just fine on high settings, but I think the performance hit with that mod would be just enough for it to not be worth it for me.

I got new vegas, and fallout 4, and dragon age origins almost for the mods alone. I didn't even beat fo4 yet and spent 106 hours mostly due to mod use, I have 80 hours in new vegas and when I beat that I was pseudo-speed running it. There are plenty of mods that are amazing, new vegas has an anthro pony mod (an ugly version and a not ugly version lol, you can even be anthro nightmare moon!) Then theres alternate perk mods, alternate mechanics, better graphics, less size but higher detail graphics, you can have greenery in fallout 4! You can have alot of weather effects! Transparent water! Custom skins for everything, and sounds! I love it, and bought FO4 instantly for the mod use alone. There are mlp themed pipboys and animations for quest starts and for loading screens and stuff, there are mlp themed versions of common items like nuka cola or abraxo. You can have the baseball grenades be pokeballs. Same goes for skyrim! You can have dragon fluttershys! You can have armor to look like ponies! You can have new spells added to the game etc! Just at Nexusmods.com, gotta look up in the forum sections how to do it though, but its worth it. I didn't beat Skyrim either and prolly have like 68 or 88 hours in that.

And those are the times before I even got dlc also XD just saying.

I bet there will be a huge monster inside called Titan XTM, then a treasure stash, then an even bigger monster named QuadroTM, with an even bigger stash after it. But you have to fight the GeforceTM bandits before even getting to Titan XTM.
