PoisonClaw 8,174 September 27, 2016 Share September 27, 2016 Tirek, a name that invoked fear in the hearts of ponies from the very first episode of My Little Pony. Wishing to bring about nighttime eternal, he used the Rainbow of Darkness to corrupt and conquer, turning everything from ponies to princes' into hellish monsters. Ultimately though, he was defeated and presumed dead. ...Until 30 years later, when Lord Tirek arose once again, having escaped eternal imprisonment in Tartarus although stripped of his power. Without the Rainbow of Darkness, the only way to sate his hunger and regain his power was to drain the magic from ponies, essentially stealing their souls considering his victims lost their cutie marks, their eyes became colorless and blank and many of them lost the energy to even move without great effort. Again, he was defeated and returned to rot in Tartarus. Which one was scarier though? I remember back before Twilight's Kingdom, Tirek was depicted more than once by fans as a horrific monster from the deepest, darkest depths of hell, the kind of thing that makes Nightmare Moon look like a stuffed animal in comparison so obviously he left somekind of lasting impression. Kyoshi Frost Wolf 42,202 September 27, 2016 Share September 27, 2016 I think G4 is the scarier of the two. Rather than making monsters and having them do his bidding. Tirek, once he started gaining power, became a nearly godlike force that almost couldn't be stopped by anything. He was really weak and feeble at the start but to see him gain so much power is intimidating. Redeem me into childhood. Show me myself without a shell. VengefulStrudel 1,495 September 27, 2016 Share September 27, 2016 I'd say G1 Tirek is the scariest one. He threatened to decapitate Spike and transformed the ponies into his monstrous slaves. G4 Tirek just drained ponies' magic and blew everything up. While the G4 one feels more destructive and powerful, the G1 Tirek feels scarier and has a imposing presence. 1 Check out my art thread for some cute ponies, cookies and boops. heavens-champion 1,907 September 27, 2016 Share September 27, 2016 I dunno. Give G4 Tirek the Rainbow of Darkness, and they'd be tied.
cider float 2,539 September 27, 2016 Share September 27, 2016 (edited) G1 Tirek seems to be somewhat of a mastermind and even if evil seemed to have the mind of a ruler as how he holds command over other monsters and had his own court as it appears. G4 Tirek was surprisingly very cunning putting Discord around his finger and very bold to utilize the spirit of chaos and displayed greater combat proficiency as well as the power to absorb magic. But G4 Tirek didn't seem like a leader but just a destructive force. Edited September 27, 2016 by cider float
Fhaolan 4,494 September 27, 2016 Share September 27, 2016 There's arguments on both sides with this one. Though to be honest, I found G1's artstyle made Tirek *look* scarier. G4's art is cleaner and more defined, which lost a lot of the craggy, snarling look that G1's hand-drawn style caused.
cider float 2,539 September 27, 2016 Share September 27, 2016 Think of it this way. G1 Tirek is like Darth Vader. Has a commanding and menacing presence. G4 Tirek is like Broly from Dragon Ball Z.
cmarston1 5,964 September 27, 2016 Share September 27, 2016 I haven't seen G1, so I can't really judge that interpretation. But for G4 Tirek, due to the nature of the show, I don't really see him as being very scary. Intimidating maybe, but like all the other villains in the show, I don't see anything super frightening about him.
KatonRyu 1,036 September 28, 2016 Share September 28, 2016 If we're purely talking scarier, then G1 Tirek wins for me. He was far more menacing. G4 Tirek was more powerful by the end, I think, but he never really felt as dangerous as the old one did.
Steve Piranha 29,497 September 28, 2016 Share September 28, 2016 I haven't seen any G1 shows, but on term of pure scariness, I think G1 Tirek is far more scary most of the time. G4 Tirek might not be as scary presence alone, but I'd be more scary in fighting him than G1, so I dunno Sig by Discords
Tao 8,893 September 28, 2016 Share September 28, 2016 Ima having to hit up G1 is a bit more edged than G4, Gi Tirek kidnapped/changed/torture the ponies and made them into his hell servants while G4 just took their magic and left them alone. He just got bigger and shooter out dbz like blast in the end and got his but handed to him.
Leave a Whisper 703 September 28, 2016 Share September 28, 2016 (edited) Neither. I never saw the love for Tirac, I think he's generic and boring as a villain. G1 Tirac had the better voice though. G4 Tirek was more powerful by the end, I think, but he never really felt as dangerous as the old one did. That's because he didn't all but imply that he would cut off anyone's head, or had the power to turn ponies (and possibly other living beings) into monsters like his G1 incarnation. Zachary 5,522 September 28, 2016 Share September 28, 2016 I would say G1 Tirek is Scarier (But Zachary, You never watch G1) Thanks Kyoshi for the Signature
