general media Simpsons eerie prediction of Trump's win

16 years ago, an episode with adult Lisa Simpson as president after President Trump bankrupted the country aired. These predictions are nothing new, but none the less eerie. (They foretold the destruction of the twin towers before it happened, also)

how does everyone feel about these eerie predictions in media, sometimes years in advance?

The Simpsons can predict the future and are trying to warn us but because it's a comedy, we don't take it seriously.  This is a scary revelation :P

The Illuminati always tell you what they are going to do before they do it. But they make it cryptic.

oh I know full well that that's what they do. Put signs right in front of people and they are none the wiser. I don't like, nor have I ever liked the Illuminati feel it's even penetrated some aspect's of MLP (Sunbutt's eye looking like eye of Horus, and her "all seeing" abilities). Nope. Just- nope

But other's opinions on this are important

I remember seeing that episode--I don't recall much of it now as it was long ago--and it's disturbing how The Simpsons ended up being accurate with the idea of Trump becoming president. Maybe the other half of that scenario will come true where he bankrupts the country and someone else is elected to fix the mess.

It really does creep me out that Matt Groening predicted that. Nostradamus also says something about the twin towers, Hitler and even Trump though I think Nostradamus words could be taken out of context because why would a Frenchman put U.S. and its concerns as if it was the center of the world?

By the way, it's false

The episode was made last year after Trump had declared that he was running for president, and it wasn't even talking about Trump winning the election, but rather doing a speech for his campaign.

Furthermore, the "Electoral College" scene was from a completely different episode made back in 2012, covering that year's election instead. This whole idea that the Simpsons somehow predicted the result is made up entirely by social media.

The images of Trump in The Simpsons are indeed from a recent interstitial.  However, as is detailed in the Snopes link, the future-set episode in which Lisa is President Elect and mentions inheriting a "budget crunch from President Trump" is "Bart to the Future", which first aired in March of 2000.  Trump doesn't appear on-screen at all during that episode, he's just mentioned.

And, as I recall, the premise of the episode is a Native Mystic showing Bart who he will be "in 30 years".  So since The Simpsons always takes place in whatever year it is, that means they the episode put Trump being elected president in 2026 (or 2022 and got re-elected).  So they did predict his presidency, they were just off by 10 years.

But it's not as eerie or shocking as the OP says it is. Trump had played around the idea of running for president ever since the late 90s, so it won't be too surprising for the show to joke about the whole idea. If there was even a prediction in the show, there were many inaccuracies to say it is reliable or beyond coincidence.
