leonbrony17 1,216 December 1, 2016 Share December 1, 2016 A unicorn who lost it's horn (maybe because of an accident) and who couldn't perform magic anymore. It would be very sad because it start to think a unicorn with no magic is useless. Anypony try to help her/him to bring abillity to perform magic back.
Hypn0ticD 1,213 December 1, 2016 Share December 1, 2016 Well no, not really, as I really don't see much point for that, as first and foremost, this is a show aimed at little girls... Perhaps there could be an episode where a Unicorn needs help with channelling their magic, but again - broken horn? Yeah. Nah. Hypn0's Art Dump! Check it out sometime! cmarston1 5,959 December 1, 2016 Share December 1, 2016 (edited) While it would be interesting to see what something like this would entail, and how it would probably be an episode focusing on disabilities, I don't think this will occur. Because of how little we have gotten with Scootaloo's inability to fly, and we still haven't gotten an answer whether or not she will be able to do so. Ganondorf8 11,335 December 1, 2016 Share December 1, 2016 I can see such a unicorn growing very bitter because they no longer had access to their magic, but this most likely would only be seen in the comics or in someone's fanfiction. Something like a broken horn would be the human equivalent of losing a limb and that would go against the age demographic the show is known for.
Everfree Whisky 10 December 1, 2016 Share December 1, 2016 I wan't mane six to break Sombra's horn and smoke some weed with it, like in Tenacious D movie xD 2 It's showtime, folks!
Luminance 2,186 December 2, 2016 Share December 2, 2016 Something close like that had happened already. In "Bridle Gossip", it was Twilight who gotten "horn ailment" from the poison joke plant. Her horn wasn't necessary broken but it didn't allow her to use magic.
Raven Drakeaurd 292 December 2, 2016 Share December 2, 2016 (edited) For like a fanfic It could be used as some really good character devolvement, You know the unicorn loses their horn and they need help from another pony, That could be a good base for fic if someone wants to borrow that. GrimGrimoire 4,973 December 2, 2016 Share December 2, 2016 I am not against it, but it is not anything I necessarily want nor need to see. That being said, I can see a good episode centering around disabilities and such forming around such a concept though, same if they introduced a pegasi with a missing wing or some such. I don't think it would be out of line either since there are plenty of children who struggle with some form of disability who deserve to hear they can do anything and be anyone they want to be. Done properly I could see it being a pretty powerful episode. 1 ~No profound statement needed~

So what about Sombra's horn beeing blown up into the space? Or Rainbows bitten ear, scar and metal wing(By probably losing her real wing? I think a broken horn is way far less brutal Legends never die. Ponies neither. Rainbow Dash is best pony! Ava made by Pandora^^

silvadel 1,393 December 2, 2016 Share December 2, 2016 I'd be happier seeing a hurt unicorn getting their horn repaired -- good as new. I would hope the ponies are able to fix injuries to a horn. 1 Silvadel, the Pegasus of Insight.

Female characters are less likely to appear in an unattractive position like that. Especially in a show for little girls. Weetile 19 December 3, 2016 Share December 3, 2016 (edited) A pony with a broken horn would basically be an earth pony without super strength (or would be a pegasus, if an alicorn). I suspect it would look something like this bad MS Paint sketch I made: http://i.imgur.com/SPTNyt9.png Edited December 3, 2016 by Weetile Hey, my name is Weetile! Widdershins 9,960 December 3, 2016 Share December 3, 2016 It's not that I am unsympathetic but...never have liked the broken horn concept. Losing a horn does not really cripple a unicorn all that much. I sort of equate it to getting a few of your fingers on one hand being blown off, sure it makes life harder but it isn't something you can't learn to live with. I can't really imagine some earth pony being all that sincere when their unicorn friend comes crying to them that they've lost their capacity to levitate things with their mind. Magic isn't exactly something that was necessary for your life to begin with. After all, a unicorn without a horn isn't much different then an earth pony right? Now if you still have a horn, but lost your capacity to do magic all of a sudden like Twiddles did from the poison joke episode where she went all Noodlecorn, then yeah, I can see that counting as a disability. Does it mark you as less desirable? Well yeah, but wouldn't that just be the same scorn a high class unicorn would show some farmpony earth horse? Not to mention that its a horn, that is fairly hard to break without some serious trauma like a car accident or somesuch. You can't just throw a dish at it or punch their horn to snap it off. That's bone there (likely, anyhow) and stubby bone at that. You have to try to break something like that & it strikes me as more of an ineffective ploy for sympathy. Now wings, I can see. They're a much bigger part of the anatomy and while a pony doesn't really need to depend on flying as much as Rainbow Dash clearly does, since we frequently see her choosing to fly rather than walk, losing those restrict a motion they're dependent on. That I can see weighing heavily on one's psyche. To answer your question: No, I don't want to see a broken horn. Ever. In any method. Frankly, I'm with Everfree Whisky on this. Maaaybe not a bong, but If I lost my horn, I'd bronze that sucker & mount it over my fireplace mantle! Ooh, or maybe make a drinking stein out of it! Cool. Beatings & Salivations Everybeing! Creativity is something blatantly important to me as is no doubt evidenced by the 28 OCs I have posted here of the some forty plus I have, they're linked altogether at the bottom of my About Me page in my Profile & I would deeply cherish anything you wish to say about them! Among which of those I am proudest most of is my Draconequusona, His/My Ask Thread and my Hydra, Gallimaufry or "Mauf" and their own Ask Thread! Either way, sufficed to say, I am quite confident I have more OCs than you! Crazier to! Do You have a tatzelpony?! No, I rather think you don't! Hew-Hew-hew! silvadel 1,393 December 3, 2016 Share December 3, 2016 An earth pony, and a unicorn without a horn are not at all the same thing. The unicorn expresses their magic, and often their talent through their horn. The earth pony expresses their magic through their inherent strength, closeness to the earth, etc. A unicorn isn't going to kick a tree and have all the apples fall in buckets. I doubt an earth pony would be "well I lived my whole life without a horn so your loss is a trivial concern" but more very sympathetic and treating it like they lost one of their hind legs. silvadel 1,393 December 3, 2016 Share December 3, 2016 Good Catch. Note said pony is in the hospital and undergoing treatment, plus they trimmed a lot of his mane. I went into the actual episode and that was only on for a few frames. Note it was also done by an author who was new for this season. I doubt they really thought about it. 1 Silvadel, the Pegasus of Insight.
