What if all female characters in the show would be male?

But if it meant that we didn't get the EQG series, I probably would have burnt out on FIM at some point.

When I am not all that interested in FIM, EQG is able to help keep me motivated and give some of that similar charm, and keep my interest in G4 alive.

Definitely. One of the charming things about the show's cast is that, although it's predominantly female, you don't care about their gender so much as the adventures they go on. Although it would cost the existence of episodes like Look Before You Sleep and Simple Things, or at least change them a lot.

I reckon AJ would be kind of a handsome, muscly cutie who doesn't really speak much, like Big Mac. But considering she appears to have the same body shape as everypony else I wouldn't give her her brother's body shape, I'd give them all the same body shape. It wouldn't be bad surely, but to be honest it would probably have less appeal to me, because almost everything else has a main character roster dominated by males. Plus, female characters just seem to be more relatable.

Hard to say. I like that the gender of the characters is more or less inconsequential but I've grown attached to the characters the way they are, gender and all. Plus seeing some rule 63 fanart once triggered a rule 63 dream for me that I would call a nightmare. Things just got a little too real there, mostly because I myself was rule 63ed, though curiously enough I think near the end I reached the point where just enough of me knew it was a dream while still enough of me bought it as I remember refusing to watch FiM with my gender-swapped friend in spite of enjoying hours of rule 63 AVGN with Janine Rolfe.

I think all their personalities would be the same if it was a real equestrian world. Since its a show by hasbro yeah, they would be different. specially rarity and fluttershy.

 

but hasbro or real equestria, I do think some jokes and resolution of problems would be a lil different.
