Episodes that could have benefited from a re-write.

Well, it is an idea, but I'm still not convinced it would fully fit what the episodes were going for. We might not see Princess Celestia doing great feats that often, but she's still, y'know, Princess Celestia. 

The thing is the Season 6 finale was a Starlight story so as long as you keep the focus on Starlight then it really doesn't matter who's there. Heck having an authority figure actually makes Starlight's leadership fear thing play a much bigger role in the story instead of being an unrelated plot. First she would feel less pressure once Celestia arrived then have the weight of the world shouldered on her in a instant when Celestia gets captured instead of there just being "Starlight's afraid of leadership" plot which has very little connection to the overall plot.

Then again I very much dislike the finale and Celestia having a prominent role is to mitigate the dislike I have for it even though Discord's stuff was some of the few parts I did like.

The Crystal Empire-- Instead of the test, have Twilight and friends go to assist the Equestrian government/Royal guards and have Twilight, as usual, be more competent than the military. That would make Celestia look like less of a jerk and make Twilight more admirable.

 

Princess Twilight Sparkle--As beautiful as the Nightmare Moon flashback is, it has nothing to do with the rest of the story, ruins headcanons (Nightmare Moon was banished in less than an hour? Really?), and we already know what happens. Remove it, have the cliffhanger immediately after Twilight takes the potion, and spend more time on Discord's rule instead. 

 

Princess Spike--Make the problems that occur the result of Spike abusing his power, not him trying to follow instructions.

Well, there is the Mysterious Mare-Do-Well. In hindsight, it could have been better. And then there's 28 Pranks Later. I don't know why, but I want Discord to appear in this one.

As for To Where and Back Again... they could have at least shown Twilight get captured. And given her more lines.

Off the top of my head, I think both One Bad Apple and The Cutie Re-Mark could've done with a re-write. One Bad Apple had a muddled message and a "protagonist" who was forgiven with a slap on the wrist, despite turning on her own cousin and her friends in a selfish effort to save her own hide. As for The Cutie Re-Mark, I thought Starlight's backstory was terrible and I found the ending extremely disappointing. I'd have preferred it if Starlight had either remained a villain or if they'd handled her redemption more gradually instead of trying to accomplish it through a musical montage. As for her backstory, I'd have left it a mystery or saved it for a future episode instead of trying to cram it into the finale.

On Your Marks should have focused on all of the CMC instead of switching to just Apple Bloom in the second act.

Despite that I LOVE Magical Mystery Cure, I think it could use a rewrite to fix the pacing, and further develop the problem and ascension

-Games Ponies Play had a terrible resolution

-PTS: Part 2 dragged to a halt towards the end

-Bats! Had an illogical resolution

-The Wonderbolts were uncharactistically disloyal in Rainbow Falls

-AJ was ooc as fuck in Somepony to Watch Over Me

-Maud Pie had a weak resolution

-Appleoosa's Most Wanted was horribly written. Easily one of the worst in the show's history

-Princess Spike is another abortion of bad writing

-On Your Marks was a terrible follow up to Lost Mark

-Applejack's Day Off is easily the biggest pile of garbage, maybe in TV history.

-Dash was too tone deaf and mean spirited in 28 Pranks Later

 

 

That's all I've got, besides a few nitpicks that aren't worth mentioning.

Gauntlet of fire. Redundant checkpoints to the testament of "friendship" make the whole concept cringeworthy.

Twilight's Kingdom: Remove Discord and have the Mane 6 save the day while you-know-who is still weak.

 

Power Ponies: Don't let the PP get fodderized.

 

The Cutie Remark: Scrap it entirely.

 

The Cutie Map: After Twilight blocks Starlight's beam and tries to talk her down, a bounty hunter comes out of nowhere, shoots Starlight with a tranquilizer dart, and wipes her mind, thus getting rid of all subsequent Starlight episodes.

Boba Fett would like to join the mane cast after saving them from 10 more episodes of poor writing.

 

Applejack's day off: Actually make episodes like this eventful enough for 22 minutes.

 

To Where And Back Again: Don't capture the Mane 6 offscreen.

 

The Crystalling: Scrap entirely.

 

Slice Of Life: Have multiple background pony episodes instead of just one.

COTLM or On Your Marks should've ended with the CMC either disbanding or going their own Separate ways and also, The Fault in Our Cutie Marks should've ended with the CMC giving up on their Cutie Marks in favour of becoming Blank Flanks once again

Cutie Remark. Everything about this finale is fine, except the backstory, it wasnt terrible or anything but it need to be elaborated more, they should include more scenes about her life after that day, how she form her twisted ideals.

 

Dungeon and Discord. Spend more time for gameplay more than just Discord trying to messing around, what a waste of Discord omnipotents.

 

To Where and Back Again. Include Spike and Sunburst in the finale, even they are not reformed one.

While I think many episodes could have benefited from a re-write, only a select few were bad enough to warrant one. That being said FREAKING PUTTING YOUR HOOF DOWN SHOULD BE EITHER RE-DRAFTED OR DESTROYED!
