It's because there are a large number of bigoted straight people who feel nothing but absolute hate towards gays, and millions more who are outright disgusted with the concept of being with another man/woman and are therefore not okay with being near gay people, even if they don't specifically hate them. Not to mention the varying levels of bigotry among regular ignorant people who believe that homosexuality is wrong for whatever arbitrary reason.

 

Saying that one is straight but likes gays isn't necessarily "apologizing for being straight", it's saying that they belong to the group of straight people who see nothing wrong with homosexuality and have absolutely no problem with someone being gay, as opposed to the much more vocal groups who do, to various extents.

Somepony said that being a lesbian is bad and that gays are better than lesbians, not sure if that's true but based on true stories I've seen it seems to be correct.

 

Gay couples look like gentlemen when lesbians are just so messed up.

I think that the comment wasn't meant as an actual question so much as a rhetorical one that is commenting on the broken state of social affairs that necessitates that people clarify that just because they belong to the majority doesn't mean they have a problem with the minority. It sounds like people apologizing for being straight when really it's even more unfortunate because it amounts to compassionate people who are part of the majority clarifying that they have no problem with the minority in a kind of acknowledgement of/apology for the bullshit that people in the minority have to put up with. One of those jokes you make because if you don't laugh you'll cry.

Yes, I agree, as I been in many places in the furry fandom its pretty common to see homosexual activity in the fandom as a accepted part of it. As well as a major negative stereotype that is placed on the furry fandom.

 

As far as this topic goes.

 

I am heterosexual and its staying that way if I remain a male and that's seems to be the case for the rest of my life. I don't hate homosexuals as long they don't hit on me.

Because you're a guy? No, it's because you're straight. They aren't. They can't help it. Nor do they have some magical way of knowing that you're straight before hitting on you. If one does know you're straight and keeps on bothering you, that's an completely different case. However, you can't hate somebody who innocently hits on you not knowing either way. You aren't above them.

 

I apologize if you specifically meant those who continuing hitting on you after they know you're straight, however the way you worded it has not come off quite that way. Plus, I've seen this attitude a lot lately, and it comes off as not only insecure, but demeaning to anybody that is homosexual. "I'm not a homophobe (I promise!) But don't you dare hit on me." Well its up to that person to hate me for my actions, If a lesbian doesn't like when a guy hits on them then I can't really place that against them. Its really what they do in reaction that I would most likely dislike or like.

Anyways, I'm an unsure stallion, I mean if anything I'd consider myself ponysexual mostly (Herpaderp clopper here), real people just don't do it for me... But right now I'm talking with a pegasister who has feelings for me and vice versa, the only way I'm going to seal the deal is if she's willing to take part in my sexual kinks. She doesn't knock them, but she's not willing to try them out yet... Which is making me very hesitant about going forward...
