Juggling? Crap. How prominent is that in the gameplay itself? I just don't think I'd be able to handle another fighting game with broken juggling physics.

It's the challenge man! it's why I keep going at MVC3 though I suck at it. I just don't have it in me to back down from a game.

Messing around with Pinkie. I noticed her super is crazily powerful. It requires your bar to be at level 3, but doing a little over half of your opponents health by just grabbing your them is a little whack.

Also, she is sooo adorable!

@Motion Spark: sorry but if you look at your video posted above again, that combo breaks right after Rarity lands, and then 4 more times after. Remember that blue flash means that the opponent can tech out of it.

 

So basically what you posted isn't a true combo, so yeah. Still nice to be getting ideas though.

 

btw any Rarity mainers and such, try playing around with this: I've noticed that c.A->c.B->c.C->launch->j.L (2 hits)->j.M (3 hits) xx land xx jump ->j.L for some odd reason works. And by work I mean there's no techable frames when I executed that. Takes a bit of timing though and it's not really practical as it is now, but it's just an idea.

 

I'm not a genius with combos at all even in my main fighting game (UMvC3), so I just archive stuff that I find, weird or flashy or w/e

Speaking of which, anyone in the South East Asia or near? I really, REALLY need someone to play with at the trot spot's MTSP server orz

 

I've had like only one person that I was able to play with decently so far, it was an Australian. Almost everyone is in the US and thus the lag is just horrible when I play with them.

 

If anyone's interested then I can probably put the instructions how to setup MTSP to work with FiM and connect to trot spot

thanks for the input, now I see that everything I learned with Rarity is completely useless (I hope they take that out in the final build )....my main fighting game is also marvel vs capcom 3

Lol nope, I'm pretty sure it's staying. The same mechanic exists in the arcsys games and it's pretty good.

 

However, it's not to say that your combo should be dismissed; even in top play, it's still pretty hard to tech on reaction even though it's just holding one direction. Remember your options here because that's still good damage. Very good damage.

 

You can play online by using MTSP. Currently, thetrotspot.tk hosts a server just for the game. (server's down right now though orz)

 

 

 

Oh and as a fellow MvC3 player, I am actually frustrated that Level3s in this game scale normally hahahaha

Well weirdly enough I couldn't connect to the server if I don't check the DNS box, but w/e

 

Also at least one of you needs to be a Host if you wanna play each other

 

Oh and btw

 

7) Before you start beating up technicolor ponies, go to Options -> Settings. From here, go to the General tab and set the Game Executable Path. Click "..." and select the FightingIsMagic.exe wherever you have it saved. Optionally, if you want to store replays, create a subfolder in the Fighting Is Magic folder labeled Replays and select it in the "Saved Replays Folder". The Autosave Replays checkbox should be self-explanitory. Replays can be viewed through File -> Replay file playback.

 

8) Go to the Game tab in Settings and change Netplay Settings as follows:

Max. Stage #: 4

Random Stage: 0

# of Rounds: 2

Game Timer: 99

 

9) Under Title Bar, check the Nicknames, Number of Games Played and FPS boxes.

 

10) Under Startup, check the Launch at 640 x 480 Box. Click OK.

 

11) A clarification about Host/Client: If you are a client [name in black], then you can only challenge those who are hosts [name in blue] or server admins [name in green]. Clients can NOT challenge other clients because neither of you has port forwarding. If you are a host, you can challenge anyone on the server if they are available. Again, only choose host if you are certain that your ports are forwarded. If you are a server admin, you probably knew all this info already, so stop reading.

 

12) To challenge a specific person in the server, highlight them, right click and select Challenge. If you cannot highlight them in blue, they cannot be challenged. If you want a quick match and do not care about who your opponent is, use the /vs command and a match with someone who is available should begin. An explanation of the background colors on the userlist:

Red: Currently in a match.

Yellow: Away or doesn't want to be challenged. [This can be turned on/off with the /rest command.]

Green: Spectating a match.ctating a match.

Drake, you're not mentioning me at all XD, yeah you're right but this game feel kind of limited to me, if this flashing thing stays, it will be much more limited, I don't want infinite combos, I want extended combos ... in UMVC3 there are ways to evade the HS and extend combos, this game should have something similar

I am so excited for the release of this wonderful game. I have a suggestion for him if both of the same characters are fighting the alternate skin for the other character should be either the grayed out Discored version of the pony, or the outfit that the ponies wear to the Galla. I'm very curious about Fluttershy's Fighting style maybe it has a lot to do with New Fluttershy.

I've been playing the game with some friends, and im trying to get better with pinkie. I SUCK at fighting games, but at least I know the moveset for pinkie. thats a start. I know like one combo though, and her foam finger is annoying because I got to get used to ground tech timing

I know another method but never tried, have you heard about "lunaport"?
