What do you think of the results? I actually agree with the top three picks, though 48% of the vote for Starlight is insanely high.

I didn't realize the voting that I missed ONLY has the Mane 7 has canidates. When I saw the Title "Best Character of Season 7", I thought it meant NEW characters introduced this season, like The Apple Parents, Feather Bangs, Pharynx, StarSwirl and the Pillars! What a cupout to NOT include any of the new characters!

I love Starlight, but I wished the voting was for the new characters!

You can suggest poll options to EQD, I think that would be one to make it during the hiatus.

Not surprised to see SG win, and, yes, I voted for her. That said, I don't fully agree with the overall concluded order. What I have is this:

1. Starlight: The most consistent and best written last season.
    
2. Twilight: Only bad appearance was A Royal Problem. Her humor and character were one-note, and she had a major hero worship for Celestia, completing ignoring Luna. In Luna Eclipse, she was the first to approach her, befriend her, and treat her like an equal.
    
3. Fluttershy: She was really great. Unfortunately, FLI put her in the right, when she deserved a large share of the blame for being a really crappy client. OTOH, she had two of her best appearances in the show in Discordant Harmony and A Health of Information.
    
4. Rainbow Dash: She got her character back this season, but is still rather inconsistent. Of the three older "sisters" in Campfire Tales, she was the weakest for being flanderized. And chucking Pinkie's pie down Tank's chute twice was really out of character of her.
    
5. Spike: No bad roles this season, but became mostly forgotten as S7 progressed.
    
6. Rarity: Despite a mediocre appearance from Forever Filly and a really bad one in Honest Apple, she got better in the second half, particularly in Campfire Tales, SP, and especially Mane Thing.
    
7. Applejack: Honest Apple is her worst appearance in the series, but is balanced by Pear, Campfire Tales, Mane Thing About You, and Shadow Play.
    
8. Pinkie Pie: She had two really bad roles this season: Rock Solid Friendship (acting very clingy and annoying) and Secrets and Pies (a colossal idiot; how can you be fooled by Dash's "hey-look!" trick time and time again and then actually have to SEE it to be convinced that Dash wouldn't eat her pies?). Pinning her to literal corners crossed into really creepily unfunny territory. The only one of the M8 that I disliked last season on the whole.

public opinion has shifted, while there are still die hard haters out there, starlight is now widely regarded as a fan favorite.

This, Starlight has been soaring in popularity simply because she is very well written.

Twilight is my favorite character, yet I think Starlight was the best this season followed by Fluttershy followed by Twilight.

You know, I can almost sympathize with her ‘critics’. They’ve always been in the minority, no matter how much noise they made. The fandom is getting tired of them. The show staff doesn’t care what they think. Hasbro is tired of their BS to the point that (if Larson was telling the truth) they had an entire episode written about how toxic elements of fandom effect the people working on the show, regardless of any potential backlash. They have to constantly see just how much more popular she’s becoming, as well as all the hype and excitement surrounding her character. And having to constantly see love for something you don’t like, I can understand feeling frustrated.

But so many of them take their hate way too far, to the point they try and ruin other people’s enjoyment of her. It’s petty, it mean-spirited, and it’s why I can’t work up any real sympathy for them. Instead, I’m choosing to ignore them, content in the knowledge Starlight’s not going anywhere, and that’s all I really care about in the end. Season seven proved they can make her an amazing character if given the chance, and it’s one I’m more than happy to give them.

Starlight had a great season, but that huge difference surprised me.

I was between Fluttershy and Rarity because of their appearances on Health of Information and Mane Thing, chose Rarity at the end.

I’m sure a lot of the votes were based on just how much better Starlight was than in season six.

If I would have thought on voting for "most great appearances" rather than "best outstanding appearance" I think I would have also voted Starlight, she was great in many episodes.

I didnt even vote for her and she still won  (i haven't visited EQG for weeks so i didnt know). This poll already spoke for itself, Starlight is getting more praises (she earned them), and some people will think this is vote spam or majority people are just dumb to not understand what they are understand.

Poor Twilight and Fluttershy, they are great this season, they deserved more votes.

Hope Starlight will make me love her more next season, she is loved by the staff themself, there is no way they could screw it up, right right right, everyone, kihihihihihi....

How long it takes to get there, i wonder? 6 months? A year? Over a year? It really frustrating to get there but she got there anyway, cheer!

I also voted for Starlight in the poll but didn't expect that result at all. I thought a Mane 6 character would win but she was unexpectedly dominant. And I feel it's a deserved win, as I loved most of her episodes this season (even my least favorite of them, "Uncommon Bond", was still good).

I opted for Twilight. She was absolutely amazing in Celestial Advice, A Flurry Of Emotions, Fame and Misfortune and especially A Health Of Information and Once Upon A Zeppelin. Sure, she felt a little weird about the friendship retreat in All Bottled Up and a little stalker-ish in A Royal Problem but she takes the cake because despite Starlight's consistent performance throughout various standout and secondary roles in the likes of the aforementioned A Royal Problem and Shadow Play, she was a little bogged down by the actual quality of All Bottled Up and To Change A Changeling and as incredibly sweet as Uncommon Bond was, it felt reminiscent of The New Adventures of Winnie The Pooh for some reason so she's on par with Fluttershy this season for me.

I think I missed this poll. My vote would have been for Twilight, because I thought this was easily her best season since becoming an alicorn, to the extent that I don't think she had a single bad appearance. The rest didn't entertain me nearly as consistently, and Starlight winning by a landslide just makes me feel bad, because it just sort of makes me feel distant from this fandom. It's changed, and I haven't changed with it.

I'm not a Starlight fan, but I would agree that she had the most representation in season 7. Especially with the finale being the punctuation it was for her.

Season 7 certainly did a great deal on Starlight's character that she so needed! But the only problem I had with that, is that the writers didn't need have to make Spike absent for half the season just to do that. I mean unless season 8 is HIS season! :3 Uncommon Bond was especially needed for her character, and her supporting roles were really helpful for her character as well!

Starlight definitely is a new favorite, and ahe deserves it too. I like how they write her, especially since she had only been introduced in Season 5.
