Subscriber Denim&Venöm 20,472 December 27, 2017 Subscriber Share December 27, 2017 MLP has had a lot of episodes. Many remembered for being good. Many remembered for being bad. But there are also some that don't really get talked about. Some that sorta just happened and then the fans just moved on from. Nothing good or bad to make them really stand out. So what are some MLP episodes that don't get talked enough about and why do you think they've been mostly forgotten? For example, I feel like Top Bolt gets overlooked. Despite a decent story, stand out character designs, and the break out role for VA Lexi Hule, no one really discusses this episode. No one quotes any lines and no one mentioned the characters. Another one is S5 Hearthsbreakers. Yeah, it caused a brief stir in gossip w/ the debut of the pie family, especially Marble. But within a month, all that died down too and no one really references it.
Dark Qiviut 22,603 December 27, 2017 Share December 27, 2017 (edited) Apple Family Reunion. One of S3's best episodes and probably the most underrated of the series. Not as memorable as the three before them and has a pretty simple story, but still well done. My favorite part is when A.J. overhears how the whole family will be coming and she looks up at the night sky with 2 shooting stars. Without a single word, it's clear she's thinking, "I'm going to make this family reunion the best in honor of our parents." Sure, her efforts led to a disaster, but in the end, she learns that it doesn't really matter how much they do at a family reunion. As long as the family is together, that's the more important thing 1 A Dragon as big as his love for Disney and has his head in the clouds literally and figuratively Ask Will Guide | Signature by Wife of Hawks | WiiGuy2014’s OCs
cmarston1 5,964 December 27, 2017 Share December 27, 2017 (edited) Family Appreciation Day is an episode that I don't really see a lot of people talking about, despite it being a hidden gem from the second season. Which is a shame given how it is one of the very few Apple Bloom centered episodes that I consider to be legitimately good and worth watching. As the shooting stars shot by, Granny Smith tells AB that she's lucky she got some of her same-aged and more distant relatives to come and believes many of them won't be there next time. More stakes are added, because her relatives are getting no younger and might pass away before the next one is set. 2 "Talent is a pursued interest." — Bob Ross Pro-Brony articles: 1/2/3/
Megas 28,135 December 27, 2017 Share December 27, 2017 Add another one here for Apple Family Reunion, I remember most of the fandom being pretty lukewarm to it but I thought it was one of AJ's best episodes Both Castle Sweet Castle and Castle-mania were fantastic debuts for their respective writers but most of the fandom more or less forgot about them I think Buckball Season almost became one of these, most people seem to remember it fondly, but I feel it might have gone unnoticed had AJ and RD not had such an atrocious S6

I don't think that episode gets nearly the recognition that it deserves. It stood out to me as one of the best episodes in Season 5. That being said however, I can actually agree with the fanbase on "Castle-Mania", which was an extremely mediocre episode in my opinion. I don't believe that the Season 6 finale is given enough attention. I actually probably prefer it to the one in Season 7 as a matter of fact, which I know is not a very popular opinion. Thrond 3,271 December 28, 2017 Share December 28, 2017 +1 for "Family Appreciation Day" and "Castle Mane-ia." "Leap of Faith" is one of the most nuanced conflicts the show has ever offered, and yet people only seem to bring it up to complain about the Flim-Flam Brothers. "Equestria Games," while not as good, deserves a lot more credit for its genuinely sympathetic portrayal of Spike. Similarly, "Inspiration Manifestation" is fairly creative, and features a major step in Spike's maturation. I maintain that "Bloom and Gloom" is one of the most intelligent and creative episodes of the whole show. "Party Pooped" is delightful, and features the mane six struggling for the first time with the task of diplomacy. And there's plenty of hilarious, memorable scenes. I could just say "all of season 6," but more specifically, the intelligent and grounded "The Crystalling," the incredibly funny "The Gift of Maud Pie," the overwhelmingly powerful "A Hearth's Warming Tail," the funny and exciting "Stranger Than Fan Fiction," the energetic "Dungeons & Discords," and of course "Top Bolt," which I consider the best Cutie Map episode by a country mile. "To Where and Back Again" also deserves more credit, but people pay attention to that one. "A Flurry of Emotions" was my favourite episode of season 7 for its relentless charm and for giving Twilight something to do other than be a mentor and princess.
Singe 2,111 January 3, 2018 Share January 3, 2018 Power Ponies: This is the one time each of the Mane 6 have a special power way better than the Season 4 finale and the main villain is an Earth Pony. Here No Longer 5,286 January 3, 2018 Share January 3, 2018 I will maintain that "Somepony to Watch over Me" is the best AJ-centric episode of the entire series. I have seen so mcuh hate for the episode, especially around the time it aired. It's literally never discussed anymore, and I don't understand that at all. IMO, it's the most insightful episode of the entire series, and was a very good episode for Apple Bloom's development as a character. I agree with "Castle-Mania." Even in what became my favorite season, I'd say this episode was at least in the top seven or eight easily. The premise was interesting and it really delivered on it. I plus one "To Where and Back Again." I've heard so much hate for the episode literally focused on the fact that Starlight, Trixie, and Discord were the main protagonists. ultrairongorilla 2,064 January 4, 2018 Share January 4, 2018 (edited) Season 1- Green Isn't Your Color Season 2 - Family Apprection Day, Secret of My Excess, and Hearth's Warming Eve. Season 3 - Games Ponies Play. (I find this one really underrated. I thought it was enjoyable and cute. Ms. Peachbottom is actually one of my favorite minor characters and I would love to see her back at some point.) Season 4 - Twilight Time, For Whom the Sweetie Belle Toils, Leap of Faith, and Testing Testing 1, 2 ,3 Season 5 - Party Pooped, and The Hooffields and Mcolts. Season 6 - The Crystalling, Applejack's Day Off, Buckball Season Season 7 - Fluttershy Leans In, Forever Filly, and Not Asking for Trouble. Forever Filly is actually one of my favorite episodes of the entire series, at least in my top 10. I thought it had an incredibly powerful message about growing older. I never really hear much about it though. Edited January 4, 2018 by ultrairongorilla 1 Thanks to @Kyoshi for this totally awesome signature! bluseymoe 258 January 4, 2018 Share January 4, 2018 (edited) Bird in the Hoof. That episode may as well not exist with how little people talk about it. Hell I barely remember it aside from Rainbow Dash making the faces. I don't even know what the overall opinion of it is with fans. I guess it was just a big fat "meh"? Prospekt 11,036 January 4, 2018 Share January 4, 2018 (edited) No one ever talks about Brotherhooves Social. Very underrated Big Mac episode. No one talks about Castle Sweet Castle, Secret of My Excess, Party Pooped, Green Isn't Your Color, or Trade Ya! either. And without a doubt, Princess Twilight Sparkle is the least talked-about of the season premieres and finales. Dark Qiviut 22,603 January 4, 2018 Share January 4, 2018 All three CMC dream episodes are excellent, but Bloom & Gloom (AB's best episode) is criminally overlooked and gets an unfair rap from some people in the fandom. This is the very first episode to have a CMC legitimately question what her CM will be, and it stressed her out. Her anxiety was real and relatable. Each dream sequence tests her will, patience, and worry, but she came out of it for the better from it. Not to mention, AJ's lullaby is one of her most tender moments of the show. 3 "Talent is a pursued interest." — Bob Ross Pro-Brony articles: 1/2/3/
Mortar 143 January 4, 2018 Share January 4, 2018 There will always be episodes in any show that don't get the buzz that someone who really liked that episode thought it should have. Why is pretty simple: people's taste are different.
