I can easily see 'opening the faucet'  resulting in the fatality-nullification safeguard turning off due to hardware limitations, though, so if a true fight materialised and Duality upped the percentage of power Dru could access then the 'training wheels' would dematerialise. It's basically a realism-lipservice safety mechanism that I don't foresee ever being invoked IC unless the storyline takes a rather abruptly violent twist, hence why I mentioned it so flippantly in my post. My sincerest apologies for all the kerfuffle it caused.

It's just that I'm running a very powerful character. You have to be very careful not to go overboard with this kind of thing or else other players could get discouraged from playing. I know I can handle it because I understand the importance of limitations and weaknesses. I saw (and still kinda do) your addon as tipping the scales from her just being strong to being untouchable in combat, and that's no fun for anyone.

She's still at 1%, though, and from what I've seen of comparative power levels most player characters currently extant could defeat her quite decisively if they brought their powers fully to bear on her for any sustained length of time. After all, she is currently at less than one-hundredth of the power level that notoriously failed to give the school janitor much more than bruises and a broken arm.

That is pretty reductive and demeaning of what actually happened. She didn't just give him some bruises and break his arm. The fight put the entire campus into lockdown. Her plants were taking on a bunch of teachers simultaneously. She summoned something on accident that people didnt think was possible. The school is still recovering from what went down and everyone both npc and player alike has been affected by it.

To reduce it down to "lol she just bruised the janitor" makes me feel like that whole event was a waste of my time and effort.

No, no, it was an extremely impressive display of power, don't take me wrong, but that particular event was the culmination of a direct point-blank face-to-face duel with Ghalan, and Ghalan survived. She wasn't 'untouchable in combat' even at that power level; something like three people were actively sinking shots into that bane before it dematerialised and only one of them suffered any serious injuries from it. Her magic, while ludicrously powerful, has been shown to have something of an issue with focussing on matters of direct priority (due to the ongoing lack of conscious control ability on her part), which is a limitation significant enough that her magic's instinctual ability to protect her from direct full-power murder-attacks would seem somewhat unreliable at a mere hundredth of her full power.

Right, several teachers. Teachers, correct me if I'm wrong here, are quite powerful yes? Hell your Janitor is wielding some insanely powerful gravity magic. 

What I'm trying to make sure we are on the same page on is that Dru is now on more of a level playing field with the STUDENTS now. While she isnt going to be able to brute force a teacher, a student would still have a rough time with her at 1%. What I feel like you are doing is trying to retroactively nerf her even more than I've already done. I am telling you, as the person running the character, that she is on par with students now. Please do not god mod my character to be weaker than What I am saying.

Nerfing Dru below typical student level was not my intention. I said 'most player characters' could defeat her quite readily in her current state, and since most player characters are in fact teachers this is mutually accepted fact. I interpreted your 'untouchable in combat' comment to mean that you thought of her with death-magic nullification on her bracelets to be capable of going up against advanced students or teachers. Apologies for the misunderstanding.

Yeah but she's heading to classes right now. Do you not think it'd be strange to NOT go to a class and instead follow the Janitor somewhere? It just doesn't really work. Maybe if they had some kind of Hagrid and Harry dynamic and it was not during class hours it could work but in this context is just doesn't work at all, both in character or out.

I had the idea that the reason the school board puts up with her so much is that she runs several classes. 

Magic wise she has enchantment and animism: How physical items and places can be imbued with magic, and how such magic can develop sentience. Ties into the explanation the spirituality of animal, nature and ancestor worship in many cultures being related to magic artifacts and places, as well as the presence of 'ghosts' and other super natural phenomena. Her audiomancy has also slated her into advanced magic casting and manipulation if I recall. She may also teach a joint self defense course with Mindy.

Though at her insistence, she is also teaching Critical thinking/ independent living. Bit of an odd course in that it isn't magic or necessarily academic. More of a course in practicality that teaches things like situational awareness, common sense, reasoning & logic, basic philosophy, problem solving, time and resource management, and both positives and negatives of how their powers can be applied to the world at large. She's teaching them the basics of being a functioning, intelligent adult, something that she feels modern academia is forsaking in favor of maths, sciences and language arts. 

In short, too many kids are book smart, street stupid, and she going to fix that. Doesn't matter if you have your magical powers mastered if you suck at thinking things through on a day to day basis.

I mean I can see that, but I'd prefer to teach the latter at this juncture as A. that's the one I've got the most planned out and II. I think the class has potential to tie into future classes with the lessons it'll try to teach, especially in regards to handling one's powers, something I think Dru can also relate too.
