movies/tv Star Wars Prequels: How would you have done them?

I would never bother making it. Because everything we need to know are already in episode 4,5,6. I'm not a fan of any kind of prequels. Even a flashback inside a story isn't what I would use unless it's absolutely necessary. I don't like a certain character's background prequels, lore, continuity. Those are the poison that kills most franchises.

Story comes first. And if the ending is already destined, it's not the best choice of telling a story. I'm not a fan of '10 years later' kind of fallow-up stories either. If the premise and the idea of the story is completely driven by the urge of just telling a complete story, then there is no need to borrow characters from other stories.

It's fine. We wouldn't get all those dank memes with sand, Obi-Wan, and Darth Jar-Jar if it wasn't for the prequels. Backstroke of the West Chinese bootleg and Clone Wars animated show makes it all worth it.

Disney sequels, on the other appendage, should get retconned from existence. Long live the Fandom Menace!

I think I'd have made the first two a little less political and omit Jar Jar. Aside from that, nothing. I find the 3rd prequel movie actually really good. The first two not so much, but Episode III is quite underrated in my opinion.

I actually...really like the prequels. Even The Phantom Menace.

I don't understand why so many object to the political intrigue; it injected a dose of maturity into the franchise.

The Brony Code:

Humans are a lie, there are only ponies. Through ponies, I gain friendship.

Through friendship, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory.

Through victory, my chains are broken. Ponies shall set me free.

I would have started with Anakin being in his late teens, mid 20s (like Luke was). No need for dumb dialogue from a kid. Him being older now makes his relationship with Padme less creepy. Have them keep their relaionship a secret like they did throughout the clone wars. No talking about sand.

The last movie should have had a prototype Death Star that targeted Naboo. The planet wouldn’t be destroyed but slowly falling apart. Anakin would rush to find Padme but Obi-Wan wouldn’t let him. They fight. Padme goes into hiding with Leia while Luke lives on Tatooine.

The end.

I remember hearing this funny theory about Jar Jar being secretly a sith. I know it's dumb, but for some reason that just sounds so cool to me. Everyone thought he was just some idiot, but he was actually more intelligent and capable than he let on.

I would not have done much differently with the Prequels. George Lucas wasn’t setting out to make them like the original trilogy. He had a back story to tell and did so with a lot of style. A lot of people were disappointed because they were different from the Star Wars we'd already seen, but this doesn’t mean they were bad. Most of the things I would want are elements that were omitted from the final cut. I’d have liked to have seen Anakin returning to Tatooine to free the slaves as he saw in his dreams as a child. And there was some really good material that didn’t make the final cut. But most of all I would want to re-cast a lot of it. I didn’t like the cast very much; they weren’t auditioned as a group and lacked the chemistry of the original trilogy actors and had a lot less maturity. They seemed like they didn’t truly care about each other and were quicker to judge and condemn than honor and support. Padme would be more fitting as Leia’s daughter than the other way around, and was far more irritating than the overblown hatred of Jar Jar, who I like quite a lot.

I liked a lot of the ideas and concepts from the prequels, so I wouldn't do away with a lot of those. I'd make Anakin 13 or 14 in the first film, closer to Padme's age. I'd keep Jar Jar, but remove the comic relief aspect.

Second film would start with Anakin and Padme already secretly married and the film would explore Anakin and Obi-Wan's relationship more. Similar stuff happens - Ani ends up rushing off to Tatooine on impulse and Obi-Wan goes after him. His mum dies in his arms, so he slaughters the Tusken Raiders and goes off at Obi-Wan directly. Owen tells Ani to stay with his family, but Obi-Wan convinces him to come with him to stop the war (Would tie into Owen's distaste for the Jedi and Obi-Wan in A New Hope). Rest of the film plays out the same. Sub-plot could involve Mace Windu protecting Padme while she tries to stop the unrest in the senate and Palpatine's growing influence.

I wouldn't touch Episode III that much other than the dialogue, because I thought that one was actually really good. I'd just make Darth Maul the villain of the trilogy. It would give him a lot to do from killing Qui-Gon to Anakin beheading him at the start of the third film. Christopher Lee could play a leading member of the Jedi Council or something. :p

At first I rejected the zero, but that was because I simply didn't understand it. Now I do.
