Goths and MLP

Is there anyone here in the MLP community that consider themselves to be goth? Whether you choose to be goth physically and aesthetically (dress, grooming, music, etc) or mentally, not really showing your gothiness to the world, If you are a Goth or  happen to know of one, how do you (or the person you may know) feel about liking those cute pastel ponies that aren't what one may consider to be in the "norm" or what Goths might sterotypically like to those outside the goth community? How do you feel about what little goth representation there had been through background ponies in MLP (Moonlight Raven, Inky Rose, FlutterGoth)?

I’m I guess sort of goth or punkish myself. And I explain it as this: the stereotypes that goths only are a certain way are simply untrue. We can like colorful stuff.

well aware of that, being one myself. As i said- it's a stereotype by those outside the subgenre, but I just wanted to discuss it.

I will say it’s nice to see alternative people being represented as more than just bullies or crappy people. I hope to see more of it.

Everyone loves a goth person. Or is that just me? I think the style/look is appealing

We have two ears and one mouth, so we should listen more than we say.

As much as I would love to actually dress goth, I'm simply too broke to do so, I would love to have winklepickers or pikes though!!!  They're so beautiful.  Anyways, it's nice to see more representation on screen, I kinda wish that Monster High was a show when I was a kid though.  You can still be goth and like pastel ponies, it isn't the end of the world or anything(like having to revoke your goth card).

have you tried thrift shops? Name brands wind up in there, and even then, you don't  really need to go overboard in expensive clothing to don the aesthetic.

I know that goths can like sci-fi, comedy, even pastel ponies- whatever they damn well please. As you said, there's no rule on what we can and can't like- especially since "goth" is expansive AF

I must be unlucky because I never really find any clothing that I actually like at the thrift store besides clothes for work.  It's also hard to find my size anywhere, which is why I want to learn how to make my own clothing!  I've got a few patterns that I'm interested in just need to get a table for my sewing machine(I'm not sewing on the floor), some fabric and I'm good to do some test runs.  The expensive stuff is just oh so pretty though, isn't it?

My whole family are goths to some extent or another. And being a goth is basically just being a type of nerd in it's own right. So it fits in right along side MLP rather than contrasting against it.

I'm not into this "goth" style but the way I portrayed myself, people wouldn't guess I'd like something like mlp with cute ponies.

I definitely used to be. The girl I liked in middle school was, so I tried to be goth to get her to like me. It didn't work.

Before I became a metal fan, I considered myself more as a goth than a metalhead. I had a few gothic accessories and weared almost only black clothes. But my musical interest was always more metal (but mostly symphonic metal and gothic metal) than gothic music. Nowaydays, I am neither a member of the gothic or metal subculture. I listen to both music genres from time to time, but that is all.

I like it, especially Moonlight Raven, who is one of my favorite backgroundponies. It is a nice idea to bring this into the show.
