movies/tv Favorite action/drama TV show?

My favorite action/drama TV show so far is Chicago PD. The show proved to be unique on its own, always having great stories and action along the way rather than those lame cop shows where they only throw handcuffs on some dude at the end of the episode and that's the end.

Numb3rs was fun. Wasn't perpetually grim like Criminal Minds nor was it cringey attempts at comedy like NCIS. It struck a balance with it's likable characters and delved into more types of crime like bank heists and domestic terrorism, rather than just one murder after another. The show demonstrating the science behind it all didn't hurt either.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer basically set the standard for action/dramas on TV. It's witty, the characters are great, the action is enthralling, and the show is layered with subtext and nuances that you might miss upon your initial viewing. Same for Angel.

I'm personally not sure. I really like Criminal Minds, with my fascination with human psychology. But it's been having issues with getting too serialized, and it's always been a bit grim.

I would be more tempted to say SVU, but they have a problem with getting too political and half of the defense attorneys are aggrivatingly stupid. Even in real life they aren't THIS bad. 

 

Though considering how broad this seems to be, I think Star Trek: the Next Generation may even be an appropriate answer...
