gaming Classic WoW dropping soon

Classic WoW will be released in a little less than two weeks. Is anyone else hyped? Slower leveling and a greater feeling of progression with the talent trees. No cross realms so if someone ganks you it’s entirely possible to find them later and get revenge, as well as the return of personal reputations on your server. Dat Barrens chat, boi.

If you’re playing, what class/race combo? What server?

We’re finally going home frens.

Vanilla WoW was so much fun, even though I really don't like grinding though.  I also didn't like having to resurrect around the same spot because of camping.  I'm not very good at pvp and I'm a bit slower than other people when playing games so you can guess that I had a lot of problems with camping.  I don't think WoW is really a game I enjoy anymore because of it.  Hope you enjoy the game though!!!  Also, Barrens chat was literal pus pile on my old server(don't remember the name of it thankfully).

So, I don't think Vanilla Wow is going to be as fun as people are anticipating, for several reasons. The first being the mates you used to play with got jobs, married, kids, and moved on. That's what really made it fun. Second, if they don't resurrect the game with the same bugs, which I'm not sure if they are or not, but if they don't, not the same. I believe they don't have the same files, and let's be honest, even if they did, a lot of them wouldn't run on the much faster computers. Ports aren't as simple as people make them out to be, and with Activision gutting Blizzard, as is purportedly happening, I'm fairly certain a lot of the game is new models on a new game, made to look like an old one. I'm talking being able to get really high up standing in one place because of the ornate spyglass. I'm talking dragging Kazzak into Stormwind, then getting chewed out by a GM. I'm talking Lucifron not dropping any loot because he got hit with a damage shield and didn't know whether to drop Horde or Alliance gear. The plague (which if you played Vanilla, you know this as a much more unkind name) that wiped all major cities that came out with Zul'Gurub.

I also remember Vanilla Wow being kind of awful. Casinos, ganking, the grind, guild infighting, DKP, attendance, getting somewhere hours early to summon enough water and food, gold spammers, scams, spawn camping, it just wasn't that much fun. How I played so long is truly a mystery to me.

And the big one, Blizzard is a much uglier company now. "You guys all have phones, don't you?" Yikes. I have a lot of other things to do with my time and money. This is one game I can definitely skip.

This is probably also the biggest in terms of gameplay change as well. Moderation will be a lot different than it was back in the day. I expect a lot more bans for banter in the current year for things that were allowed in vanilla.

A part of me agrees with you, but my hopes for playing the game again currently outweighs my distain for activision. I’m willing to give them a chance on this, but if they fuck it up then that’s it.

Fairbanks alliance here

Be cool if there was a MLPforums guild of some sort, though I don't know if I'd actually end up joining it.

All part of the classic wow experience! You're just making me more excited for it :P

I've been playing since about launch day and I've enjoyed it far more than BFA. Levelling is slower, grindier, and harder. But it's an RPG and it definitely feels like one. There's something about grouping up with people to do a hard quest, too. Progression feels rewarding, you get small increments with talents but they add up and feel like your character is growing. I've never been so ecstatic to be in full green armor, too. Dungeons are far more fun, too. The world just feels big and dangerous. I have a 30 mage and I've gotten a warrior to 10 as well.

While I have been playing WoW since I can remember, my experience with Vanilla has been... surprisingly lacking. I started playing in TBC, and didn't get seriously into it until WotlK, so Vanilla was always to me that mysterious part I never got to see myself.

That said, I have been playing Classic since release, and I find it quite fun myself :P I grew up playing grindy stuff, so the Vanilla playstyle is right up my alley, even more so as I'm leveling a warrior, currently at lvl 44. Pretty tedious at the start, more so than other classes aparently, but it snowballs out of control if you get it properly geared, and playing the AH really allowed me to have a "comfortable" experience, with a mount, good gear, and more of that :P
