Sorry, I forgot all about that.

Let's say she's from southern Equestria, on the border with the mild west, in a universe that did not have the Trojan Empire as an emigration option. She was separated from her family when the Tar-Spawn started attacking, which affected the southern towns first, so by the time she got back to where her town was, everything had fallen, and she was picked up by the Project the cycle before Maud and Spiral got on.

I don't have a preference as to what job she presently has on the Project, given her abilities I think she'd do well as a pilot or a scout, or perhaps a chronicler, but I'll leave that up to you.

Let me know how you want to introduce her to the story and we can get started.

That sounds like a plan to me. Southern Equestria, and has been on the Project before Maud and Spiral. Good, good. I like that. As for her job on the project - what is a chronicler? Will need to know more on the jobs and available positions to make a decision. As for her cutie mark, you mentioned a possible idea up above, would you mind expanding on that? Since I do not have any other ideas for that currently. For Equestria I use this map, obviously not considering some areas, such as the human area, to be apart of it. I would like you to look at this map, and pick out any area you think is fitting for her character, for her to be from.

A chronicler is one who prepares a written account of events, either by detailing their own experiences or by gathering the experiences of others. A first-hoof account would be very desirable for the present expedition, so if she were a chronicler she'd be a shew in to join in. I'm not terribly concerned as to what they are doing, pretty much any job that could be useful in the Project is available. Might be better to tell me what sort of jobs she would want to do, then I can select from that or propose something similar to that?

I mentioned a cloud encircled by red lighting, which indicates her talents with lightning, but also can indicate how she desires to protect others, or that she walls herself off from others. Cutie marks are typically up to the interpretation of whoever has them, as they typically represent a form of self-actualization, a symbol that encapsulates who you are.

I like it a lot, however I am not one for references to real world locations although I suppose that can't be avoided entirely as it's in the canon with things such as Deltrot and the like. The cutie mark idea you propose is also good with me, so we'll go with that. Since it's not an astronomical thing, I think her name can just be Merlot Cloud. 

As for the jobs, I like the idea of the Chronicler job. I feel like she would be good at reading and understanding the level of unrest, and the factions involved onboard the ship. I am not sure what faction she would be apart of. I also feel like she would also be involved with the guard, likely some niche thing related to the guard. Maybe guarding the flight deck or something like that, on the side.

Light's gonna interact with anyone he sees though.... I think this version is a bit chatty and mischievous.... And he has a mission to find a candidate to replace The grumpy griffon which it's name I keep forgetting.... 🤔

Light needs to find a replacement for Apollo and if he notices that, he'd assist you as much as he can.... As long as Light dosn't see spiral as evil 🤔

Very nice, ser can either have them enter the story now, and have them going about the Project working to catalog the damage in the various areas due to the stop, or we can hold off and have them start once our adventuring crew finishes their work in the palace. Up to you.

As she is like me in personality, she would have an odd gimick. I imagine she would enjoy doing menial tasks around the project too. She is a chronicler, yes, but she fills up her time with other things. She can be a low level guard of of sorts, going about her tasks, and that is where we would start. She'd enjoy having a guard position to where she doesn't have to actually do much. 

I do not know what other ponies would think of her. In such a divided or ideological environment as it is, she would likely seem rather jaded, sometimes anti-social. We'll see where we go there, but she likely wouldn't have those she really sticks around with, I imagine she'd have a unique way of speaking too, just like her cutie mark. 

I imagine she would be some kind of smoker though, likely of some magical type. Like imagine if they have a magical manner of smoking that doesn't destroy the lungs, and 'wakes you up' like a cup of coffee, she'd have some sort of pipe she smokes from, with magical pods within she can light up and smoke with, with no ill effects. I also imagine in casual attire, she would wear a black vest of sorts.

Am curious what her guard attire, would be though.

Military (The Hanger, Armory, Training Grounds, Gun emplacements)

Leisure / Social (The theaters, Shops, Backstage areas etc.)

Education (Schools, the Library)

Research (The Archives under the library, the Research labs)

Maintenance (The Foundry, the Pipeworks)

Residential

Agricultural (The Vertical farm, the livestock area, the kitchens, the cafeterias, the orchard)

Medical (The hospital and other healthcare providers)

Administration (Records, and offices)

Navigation

 

Everywhere but Navigation has been seen by at least one person in this RP.

Perhaps she could be a guard for the Navigation area, if not one of the ones that...fly the project, if a character could do that? You mentioned the idea of her being a pilot, maybe she is the pilot of the Project itself, if not one of them?

Guard for Navigation could work, but that doesn't give her much mobility in her position as Navigation is fairly well isolated form the rest of the Project, so unless you want her to not be doing anything until such a point happens where someone would try and attack Navigation I'd recommend choosing a different location.

When I mentioned being I pilot I was referring to the smaller craft like they use to get down to the surface. The Project is flown by a team of does mostly as they use their guiding magic to ensure that each cycle is well and truly random in order to keep Discord from finding the Project. While there are a number of pegasai and griffons involved in the flight crew, they, like the guards, are fairly isolated from the rest of the project, so while being one of them might be interesting for a short while they wouldn't have much interaction with the rest of the story until such a point where Navigation is attacked.

If that's the case we could say that Merlot was involved with flying the project itself in the past and was recently transferred to a different position on the ship itself due to like say, a crew change. I imagine that they would do crew changes and change roles. That way, we can say that Merlot does have experience in flying the project, but it won't be involved until when Navigation is involved in the story, so that way we can have both.

So in essence, when Navigation becomes important, she will be there, but for now we can say she is a pilot of the smaller craft to get down on the surface.

Technically her area is considered part of Residential, despite being surrounded by Maintenance.

That can work, sure, though until the next group goes down to the surface, or she's needed to retrieve the others when they're done in the palace, there won't be much for her to do at the moment. If you're alright with that just remind me when the time comes.

What do you mean by this? An object's weight does not directly correlate with it's strength. How are you making it lighter such that you can more easily break it?

Perfect! Although I'd like to start with something involving her right away, we can have her doing stuff on the Project, and say that when it's time for her to go pick them up, she'll do so. Anything else we should discuss? Perhaps you can think of something for her to do or we could just have a casual interactions with other crew members, etc, up until that point.
