Honestly, I hate every one of these bastards with a passion.

Don;t take me wrong, I find greek religion interesting, but the Gods themselves, if they were real I would go on a vendetta to kill them.

 

Why do I hate them so much? They only go about to mess with mortals like toys, mess with each other, act like internet trolls, and just generally amuse themselves for their eternal life.

 

They kind of remind me of this guy.

 

but anyway, otherwise, they are interesting, basically like humans with eternal life and immortal influence on things. I mean, compare them to the internet, see any similarities?

Poseidon- absolute badass

Hades- He is also rather awesome. I mean he is the ruler of the Underworld.

Zues- I love how he basically married every single goddess, I also love his backstory where he killed his father after he ate all of his brothers and sisters.

I would have to say Athena. For good or ill, she was always unfailingly loyal to Zeus. Yet was also the most active in aiding heroes on their quests.

 

-Giving Perseus the tools he needed to slay Medusa

-Advising Jason on his quest.

-Not to mention doing everything in her power to help Odyesseus; including watching over his son.

I love Hermes. He just shows up in like the last quarter of the Illiad when all the other gods are fighting and pulls a Screw This, I'm Outta Here. And it is glorious. 

 

Hephaestus is also pretty rockin' for forging awesome stuff all the time and not letting the prejudice of the other gods get him down.

As for godesses I like Artemis. Athena is also pretty cool.

Hades always gets the short end of the straw. (Literally, it's why he lives beneath the dirt.)

 

He was actually pretty decent, if a bit cantankerous. He truly loved Persephone and was willing to let Orpheus reclaim his dead wife. Yet medieval and modern readers always label the god of the dead as synonomous with evil.

It's that Disney movie's fault. It's about as historically correct as Day of All the Blood.

I mean, everyone now thinks Hades is an evil monster and that Zeus is some sort of great guy.

They also think Heracles was trained by a satyr and that he had a Pegasus. Seriously, WTB Disney?

Well in their defense, they were trying to condense the entire epic into an 2 hour movie so they just went with the path of least resistance. They still show loyalty to the source myths in ways like you can pretty much tell which god is who by looking at them even when they are not explicitly named.

 

They also probably knew the romantic pronunciation was more popular.

Poseidon, as I'd rather be on the sea than anywhere else. Alone on a boat surrounded by water. Can't think of anything more peaceful for me. And Artemis, I suppose, because of my love of weapons and nature.

I really like Artemis because I absolutely LOVE the moon and archery is pretty cool. Had I not gone into horse back riding, I would have gone into archery.

Artemis is just really cool, being the hunter goddess and all. I found her personality interesting in the PJATO series, and Athena is badass.

I liked Apollo and Poseidon for the same reasons, also I like the sea, and being the god of the sun is just cool.

I prefer Demeter and Hera~

Demeter is a motherly figure, very kind but cruel when needed or if forced to. She's closer to one of the most kind of goddesses and she's very fun to hear when in Latin class. (Well, read) She's cold hearted if forced to and can be the cruelest if needed. Hell, she made one goddess (Gluttony or something like that) make a person insane.

 

Heard of Evil Food Eater Conchita? It was kind of sick like that. What a bad way to end, eating yourself. Shows you shouldn't piss off Demeter...!

 

Hera's similar suit, but she's not very kind. She's a jealous goddess and very rightfully so. If someone's to blame, its ALWAYS her. ALWAYS. She's like the villain of the goddesses. Its really interesting to read about her.

To get final judgment, they went to this prince named Paris, who was the handsomest dude in the land. Each goddess tried to bribe him into saying they were the fairest, but eventually, Paris chose Aphrodite, who had promised him Helen of Troy. So the Athena and Hera sided against Aphrodite with the Greeks. Aphrodite, however, sided with the Trojans.

 

The problem with promising Paris Helen of Troy was that Helen was already married. So Paris stole her. This turned the Trojans against the Greeks. Gods and goddesses sided against each other, and so the Trojan War began. All because Eris threw a golden apple into a crowd. How brilliant was she?! She certainly got her revenge!

One of my FAVORITE stories~ I love that story, really I do. It amazed me how easily it could be to tick off all the gods/goddesses. It reminds me how humanistic these deities are. It would be scary to have them..as actual lords over us.

It makes me curious to see if Eris started it all in the first place knowingly that Aphrodite would be chosen and Helen would be his.

 

Eris is my third favorite. Paris was very dumb though as well, which helped her I mean, I would have chosen Athena or Hera. More likely Hera I guess. Athena would be amazing too, I mean, rule over and have all the battle plans?
