WOAH. I'm sure by "sort of a 2D supporting series", they mean that there will be a series of 2D shorts on Youtube like the FiM shorts, but still, this is my first time hearing of something getting both a 2D show and a 3D show airing at the same time. I'm sure it's happened before or is happening with something else now, but I can't think of any other shows that have gotten this treatment off the top of my head. Even Hello Pinkie Pie, that 3D short series, didn't come out until FiM was almost over. No matter how big or small the 2D series ends up being, just the fact that we're getting this news on the same day we got the news officially announcing the upcoming G5 comic series is showing that they must be really confident in this generation.

Yikes. I don't know if this speaks about confidence, or doubt on their part. Especially with the supporting series. Why does the main series need a crutch? Is it crippled or something? Maybe a safety net for those not entirely convinced with the cgi? Either way, it seems like a curious decision. If not entirely suspiscious or alarming. Nope. Not alarming at all. Pay no attention to the fire and the occasional screams in the back.

Hasbro having two shows run simultaneously is nothing new. Faust originally wanted a CMC-focused preschool show to run cocurrent with FiM, and heck Transformers had Rescue Bots run cocurrent with Prime, and not only did that show outlast 3 different TF shows but it's often considered one of the best shows by fans despite being aimed at a significantly younger audience

I'm admittedly not a fan of that style, but the important thing is execution. It will be interesting to see how it all comes together once the series commences. ^^

G5 special called Make Your Mark is coming to Netflix May 26th, G5 series is coming September 26th, and G6 holiday special titled, "Winter Wishday" is coming November 21st!

I’m not a CalArts hater, but I hope the style in the 2D series will look better than it looks in the promotional clip and pictures. 

As for Kimiko Glenn, it was expected. And it’s very likely that she’s not the only VA who won’t be reprising their role. So get ready for Pipp being voiced by Steve Buscemi.

Interesting. It is a shame to hear about the recasts, but I think we more or less expected that to happen; celebrities aren't cheap. I am looking forward to Make Your Mark much moreso than Tell Your Tale, either way. It seems that it will have substantially higher production value, not to mention that Tell Your Tale has the beanmouth artstyle that I have ever-decreasing patience with. That stopped being appealing the split send after Regular show aired. I am also a bit worried that this might stretch them too thin; both series seem to have different goals, but it can nevertheless be troublesome to have several series airing at once for one franchise. MLP has pulled it off before with EQG, but there is always an opportunity to fail.

Regardless, I am eager to consume more Pony content. Hopefully these prove to be high quality.

It was good to hear about the release dates, however I think the 2D show looks... pretty bad. I can't say I like the visuals, but it will also depend on the writing and if the art style complements the writing, but so far it doesn't look promising. I will give it a shot though. Anyway, not too long before the special in 3D.

I’m hopeful that the art style will either improve or be animated well enough to where it isn’t as bad to look at. As long as the series is enjoyable, though, that’s all that matters. It can’t be worse than Pony Life.

I hope what I'm about to say makes sense.

I'm glad that the movie VA's aren't going to provide the voices for the characters because that will make it easier for us to get used to

the new voice actors. 

 

Plus, I think that would be very inconsistent and "Disney direct-to-video"-like if they swapped back and forth and had movie VA's 

specifically for the G5 specials and TV VA's specifically voicing the ponies in the Netflix series and Youtube shorts.

Berrow is apparently writing the G5 special, and will either be a writer for the series, or the showrunner.

Not really sure how I feel about this. She wasn't one of FiM's better writers, if I'm being honest.
