It all really depends on what stage of our relationship were in. If we've only been dating for a few months, I would probably get creeped out. If she was my wife or something like that, I would probably stay with her, although I would probably no longer be attracted to her physically

 

Love is love, as long as it's between two sentient beings of appropriate age. Real love transcends the Physical IMHO

So, you said that ponies lived together with humans in this world. And let's assume they have the same traits as they do in the show. Therefore, they're sentient, sapient, and fully capable of communication with humans.

 

Sounds pretty much like a human to me. I think the only issues would be getting over any social awkwardness. But, depending on how long they'd been in this world, it might be more socially acceptable.

 

Therefore, I'd be perfectly fine if my significant other turned out to be a pony. If anybody said you were a freak or whatever, just show them your talking pony friend and they might reconsider. And going back to the sexual aspect - I'd be fine with that too. (After marriage, of course. For me, anyway.) After all, it's a living, breathing being with a mentality just like us. The only thing different is the form.

I wouldn't mind, as said in the poll, they're sentient, so there's no problem in my book.

 

However, if they inhabited the same universe as us (with the same traits as in the show), it would be interesting to see how many answers changed based on social stigma. If humans and ponies had a harmonious relationship, it might even be considered racist (species-ist?) to leave someone just because of their species!

Ya, I draw the line at sex, I'd never want to do a pony, because ewww, and I doubt she'd want to do it with me since I'm a human, so I assume it'd be mutual. Kissing her would be weird enough.......ugg.

Well like, if we were already deeply in love and serious, and then I find out she's a pony, I would stay, only, ONLY because I don't think I could stop loving her if we were that close, if we were like only dating for a few days I'd end it because the creepy factor would be way too strong and me not having much emotional attachment to her at that point I wouldn't be able to tolerate it.

 

Oh, another way for him or her to fool you for so long is that he or she is a unicorn and he or she used his or her magic to transform into a human whenever you were together.

While I was reading the View's On Clopping thread today, I began mulling this over in my head. What if you were dating someone online, and found out they were a pony? Like, let's say humans and equestrian ponies live among one another. You begin dating someone on online, who claims to be a human like yourself. You really like eachother a lot, you have the same interests, hobbies, etc. One day, you decided to meet eachother in person, and you find out when you meet him or her that he or she is a pony. What would your reaction be? Would you still date this person, despite the fact that they're a pony? Bear in mind, this relationship would be purely romantic, nothing sexual.

 

I can't really comment, but I don't think I would, it'd feel too.....weird, to me, I don't look at ponies in a romantic or sexual manner, so I doubt that even a purely romantic relationship would work for me. On the one hand, it's so close to being with a normal animal that it creeps me out, on the other hand, they're fully intelligent, act like humans, and are capable of consent. I just don't know. It wouldn't be wrong, but it'd just be too weird for me I think.

 

I'd still date them, if they're into everything I am and the only thing different about them is that they're a pony then why not? to me that's like killing a relationship because of someone's skin color or because they aren't rich or something. then again, I'm wierd that way......I pride myself on trying not to judge anyone for anything Edited June 29, 2012 by Red

It's difficult for me to speculate. My first reaction would be DEAR CELESTIA NO but I really have to think about a world with sentient, intellectual ponies capable of speech.

 

I think it would just go back to the trust aspect. If someone told me online something and it turned out to be radically different, it would hurt my trust. I can't found a relationship on lies.

 

And if I really decided to be in a relationship with one, it would only be if there was a possibility that I could get changed into a pony (as creepy as that sounds.) There would be too many biological differences for the relationship to work (and I'm not to keen on interspecies relationships, no offense to anyone who is.)
