Post deleted? Now you know who, when, and why!

Why haven't I've seen you around here before?

Especially when you're an Alicorn/Admin.

I don't know. I blame Nico.

More to the point of the thread, I was honestly a bit irritated when this feature was removed - for one thing, it makes linking to specific posts in threads that have a large number of deleted posts (see: post your picture) a pain when the post in question doesn't appear on the same page for members and moderators.

Goddammit, Nico. How dare you make Zoop invisible?!

Anyway, I am SO happy to see the return of this. I've always written my deletions as if members could read them, and have been eagerly awaiting it for quite some time. I've never liked PMing people to tell them I've deleted things as it often invites them to contest me rather viciously and rudely. Even though I'm a mod, I have feelings too. :(

And I also know that people get mad when you don't send them a PM. They think you deleted their post for no reason. The loss of this feature was lose-lose. Hopefully now, people can not only be more civil, but maybe calm down a little when they see the exact note on their deleted posts and learn from their mistakes.

I think about what I post before I do so and asides from the occasional called for short, witty ones that have a relevant meme picture attached, all of mine are at least a full sentence, or at least, that's what I try to do for any of the serious threads that don't call for a single picture, or random fun. A Draconequus is never caught looking stupid, after all.

In short, nice job, hopefully this will have the positive effect it's desired to have. If nothing else, people who crave reasons for why their stuff got deleted should be more happy. Though now they'll just whine about it being public </3

But then again, why would anypony ever need to delete someones posts? we are all kind, courteous people, and would never argue with eachother ^_^

But , a friend of the community and an active IPS modder, managed to recreate this option after slaving away at his computer for several sweaty afternoons. He deserves a mega brohoof for his efforts.

I am extremely pleased! Huzzah!

Great. Now I have to stop writing insulting deletion notes. :(

No, please do continue. ^_^

I'm not entirely sure it's a good idea to leave any signs of entire deleted topics behind.

No, it is not a good idea. A topic that was bad enough to require deletion was done so for a reason, thus shouldn't be visible to the standard user, IMO.

The amount times I had to go back and change the code after sending it to Feld0 because I thought it was finished was way too many.

It literally caused me to make an egg throw a pig at a tree.

Or at least, a big red placeholder where the post used to be, along with the reason it was removed!

IP.Board used to let admins choose whether non-moderator users could see anything of a post after it is removed. This option was, however, removed in IP.Board 3.3.x, and there was no way to let non-moderators see any sign at all that a post was removed.

Guests and Blank Flanks are exempt from the ability to see hidden posts. Everyone else, when a post of yours is removed, you'll be able to check which moderator did it and why. This lets you dispute the removal of a post directly with the relevant moderator. If they aren't being helpful, you are encouraged to contact an administrator as usual and appropriate action will be taken. Ideally, though, you should be making good posts that don't need removal in the first place. ;)

Sweet! I can't tell you how many times I've posted something that got removed and I honestly have no idea why (5 times) and then have to ask the mods

Why haven't I've seen you around here before?

Um DUH! Zoop's a frikin' Alicorn! They cheat physics, logic, reality, time.......EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!

Cool, its a communication boost and an increase in transparency which should hopefully reduce the questions/uncertainties of why posts were removed. I never had a problem but it's good for other users.

Because I'm The Doctor and all my posts are solid gold. King Midas ain't got shit on me.

Total Carnage!

I LOVE IT! [/smashtv]

I've already run into this feature. It's only a minor annoyance when someone quotes a post you've made and their post ends up deleted. You're left with the question of what they said. <.<

It's a good idea, though.

Sorry. Couldn't resist. :D

Long ago, deleted posts lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the sea of red attacked.

Thanks PixiGlow for my PINKTASTIC SIG!!! Cute Avatar made by Dragonshy!

Though you are shy and sweet, and I bake every treat, everyone has differences,

even best friends, but I can't see the differences in you and me, my friend (formerly Pinkie Pie Rocks)

Well now I cannot post my non-caringness of certain topics on certain threads.

Good rule of thumb: if you do not care about a thread, don't bother posting in it. If your post contributes nothing, don't post it.
