movies/tv Scariest horror film you have ever seen

I agree with Jokuc, I am terrified of horror movies, yet I didn't find Paranormal Activity creepy at all.

Well, maybe the ending scene where she lunged at the camera was a bit scary, but I saw it coming.

Anyways, as I said, I hate horrors. I usually can't sleep that night at all :I

I'd rather watch a comedy or thriller or action or... yeah, pretty much anything except horrors.

wow, watch one! Start with one that isn't that extreme. I'd recommend a movie called "Hide and Seek" from 2005. It's a good one to start with.

what do you mean by 'isnt that extreme'? isnt the idea of it is that it is extreme or something?

do you have more movies that are good to start with? maybe i have one in my house (the only horror movie i remember from my house is 'it')

I AM (PROBABLY) OFFLINE

Most horror I honestly find ways to laugh at. There's cliches and inconsistencies in most of them. I especially enjoy occasionally watching the 'direct to DVD' horror movies that aren't always heard of that are so badly done, they're hilarious. One movie called Chill had a death scene involving fire. The fire was so badly done in flash, that it looked like a three year old did it. I lol'd off my chair so hard.

Recently I watched a movie called 'Don't be Afraid of the Dark' that was better than I thought it was going to be. The highly-intelligent, gnomish little creatures in it were creepy, to say the least.

Hmmmm I've seen a fair few horror movies but on a personal scale it would be The Descent (cause I'm kinda claustrophobic + I was pretty young when I watched it)

Pretty much all other horror movies I've seen didnt really bother me as much as this one did. ;)

:/ I don't really consider movies like that to be horror, as much as a whole "let's creep people out with blood and gore! :D", ya know? I must admit, some of the psychological horror in the first Saw is pretty good, but when you get to like, 7 movies of a similar concept, it loses the original scare that the first one had.

Just my opinion, though. Not really a horror fan. But when I was younger, I was stupid and decided to watch Halloween (original) ON Halloween. That was like, one of the creepiest nights of my life. Especially when I'd have to do something in the night, and it'd be like that scene where the boy is in the kitchen, and Myers randomly gets him.

Though now, the movie seems pretty tame to my desensitized mind xD

I HAD TO FALL TO LOSE IT ALL BUT IN THE END IT DOESN'T EVEN MATTER /WRISTS

I agree with how the movies did lose their charm . I still am a pretty big fan of the traps though.

I don't usually watch horror movies for cheap scares, I'd rather watch them for atmosphere and their gore factor. The Evil Dead series is great for this, Dead Alive and Re-Animator get special mention here as well. Anything with Brian Yuzna's name on it is guaranteed to satisfy. Another one of my favorite horror movie series has to be the Return of the Living Dead series.

Hmmm... I must say that I LOVE Silent Hill! XD But yeah... the scariest, Woman in Black (made me jump quite a lot XD haha) and when I was younger, it had to be Ju-On (The Grudge). I had a nightmare once, that I was lying in my bed and all I heard was that crackling throat noise she does, then I turned over and opened my eyes and she was there...staring...and thats when I woke up O_O I was scared to open my eyes from sleeping for a while after that! XD

Ooooh, and I'd have to say that I'm quite scared of the Japanese Horror movies T^T Just the Girl with the jet black over her face tends to scare me a lot more when its the japanese form :(

Hmm... Probably Paranormal Activity 3 and Saw: the Final Chapter. (That was the only Saw movie I ever Saw. Get it? Saw? Huh?

Hah two shit films :D

Paranormal Activity 3 is ridiculous and the last Saw movie just sucks. Saw 1 and 2 is very good saw 3 is good and the rest of the saw movies are bullcrap.

I'm interested to hear in you guys' films of choice for being the scariest you've ever seen. I myself love horror films - great atmosphere and rush, especially when you've got enough intricacy in the back story or plot to make things extra creepy.

So, tell us - what's the scariest film you've ever seen?

Mine would be...

El Orfanato (The Orphanage) by J.A. Bayona. It's easy to tell that this film wanted the polar opposite of cheap scares - and they succeeded. This film is so atmospheric, suspenseful and unpredictable with its scares that I loved it. The film's about a lady called Laura and her adoptive son Simón moving into a house where she grew up as a child (it used to be an orphanage). She plans to turn the house into a home for disabled children, but a problem arises when she realises that Simón believes he has a masked friend named Tomás with whom he will run away. Then after an argument with Laura, Simón is found to be missing.

I can't really say much more without spoiling it, but the sequence of events during Laura searching for Simón are so absolutely horrifying, so tense and so unsettling, that the progression of the timeline in the film corresponds with the progression of fear for what Simón's fate actually is/was. The story related to Simón, his friend Tomás, the history of the orphanage and Laura's own childhood, is amazingly intricate - and more importantly, heartfelt.

This is the film that sticks with you for a long time, not just for its spectacular scares and shots but for an equally haunting plot. Absolute must-watch (make sure you get English subtitles, the film is in Spanish), but make sure you have a competent attention span!

I probably wouldn't be as scared of it now, but: The Descent.

I saw that movie when I was in 5th grade, and it scared the living shit out of me. It was the first horror movie I'd seen, and probably wasn't the best to start with. I was gonna sleep outside in a tent the night I saw it, and of course that didn't happen. I had just gotten over my fear of the dark, and that movie just brought it right back. O_O

I have not seen a scary movie before, you might consider them scary, they're just cheap attempts to make it scary, so there is no such thing as a scary movie. :3

Oh, believe me, once you see El Orfanato you'll be withdrawing that comment. It's probably the only film out there that has no cheap scares in it. It's not a film like Paranormal Activity, or Insidious, where all the scares are predictable - El Orfanato is truly frightening.

The scariest movie I've even seen is..

I don't know. I'm not sure if all the scary movies I've seen are just cheap scares or I'm just being really confused about what's cheap and what isn't.

But I'd probably go with the new Halloween movies.. That shit is scary. o-o (To me, at least. :U)

I don't really get "scared." No matter how horrific something gets, it doesn't phase me. In fact, I find those kinds of things to be funny; hilarious even. I'm weird like that. I am a horror buff, but I honestly can't think of a single film that was actually scary.

I don't know how the english title is^^ Probably something with "Chucky" and maybe "the murder puppet" ? :D

I guess you know what I mean with chucky^^

It's probably not the scariest I've ever seen, but I saw it when I was like 8 or 10? And my cousin was a douche, he used ketchup and a scarie voice and always scared the shit out of me, I had nightmares till I was 14,  I still see chucky in some of my dreams (I dream rarely) but now I'm not THAT scared anymore, I just wake up cause I say "NO" or I even was able to get away from chucky once^^ It's just not that I wake up all sweaty anymore^^

Paranormal Activity is probably scarier for me, but I don't watch films like that often^^
