Sunny Fox 5,952 July 26, 2012 Share July 26, 2012 (edited) I'll hold my piece (or is that peace? I never can remember) with respect to a lot of the pure wishful thinking and character reinvention that this thread has, but I really would like one of Trixie's fans to make a case that she is expecting to make any money at all from her performance. It's routinely assumed, yet no one has ever provided solid evidence or even a compelling logical deduction to prove it. PS: No, Trixie is not evil, and she is not a villain. Nor is she an entirely blameless victim. She is merely an antagonist. Edited July 26, 2012 by Full Spectrum Happy minion of The Fabulous One! ---------------------- 1,645 July 26, 2012 Share July 26, 2012 I never thought of Trixie of being evil in the slightest, she just shoboats and is very ignorant. One thing though is that I have been withholding my overall opinion of her, as I would really like to see some backstory, I am willing to bet my attorney badge that it involves Trixie being inferior is some way when she was a filly....something like that anyway... FalconnHoof 30 July 26, 2012 Share July 26, 2012 I like Trixie, needs more episodes /: Maybe one where the Mane is in another town an they see Trixie performing. they confront her and she explains she isn't really a bad pony. Maybe then Twilight could give her some spell books Eventually she could become more powerful with magic. Then, in a later episode, perform in Ponyville for everyone. Everyone, even the Mane 6, will enjoy it.
Taurie 1 July 26, 2012 Share July 26, 2012 I can't believe somepony put Discord as 'neutral' and Trixie as 'evil'. She's NOT evil. She is an antagonist, but it's just her being arrogant. Also, I heard she's coming back in season 3. Can't wait!

MallaJong1 202 July 26, 2012 Author Share July 26, 2012 You're welcome, sirseansy, means' alot to hear that said of me I don't believe the word "Just" belongs there. And Rarity? She's all about fashion, it's the one thing in the world she's proud of, and where she gets her feeling of worth and accomplishment. She's probably going to have nightmares about that moment for a long time, and if it wasn't for the fact that this was one of the less-realistic episodes, she probably would've had some emotional issues for awhile as a result. And personally, I find what some comedians often do is in fact, immoral. Just because people are getting a laugh doesn't justify it. It's actually an interesting moral question: benefiting large numbers of people for the pain of a few. It's a lot like implementing slavery for a small demographic; same morality applies, just on a larger level. All in all, trying to understand the morality of all of this is wonderfully realistically complex. And people call this a children's show lol. In all truth, the basis of these questions truly comes down upon the definition of morality and human standards of humility and trauma. Numerous societies across the globe have very different standards and levels for measuring these factors. It's really a matter of allowing something to affect you or not. Therefore, while I can come up with arguments to defend Trixie further, I will just leave it to the question of: When does a particular action become immoral? Because in the eyes of many, there will be many differing answers, and coming down to a pristine consensus is improbable. But that is what a thread is for, right? ~Chaos~ 3,967 July 29, 2012 Share July 29, 2012 She isn't pure evil, she just has that I am better than you attitude, I like Trixie, she adds that selfish love for herself personality, therefore expanding the sea of personalities that there are on this show, sure she could realize what she is doing and change, but that would change a personality that makes all the ponies unique. That's my point of view.
spaghettinoodles 298 July 29, 2012 Share July 29, 2012 (edited) I love Trixie. I see her as a misunderstood soul. My theory is that she's very poor and couldn't afford an education or spellbooks on real magic, so she has to act as a travelling stage magician. That must be her secret that the CMC wrote about in Ponyville Confidential! If she didn't act that arrogant, no one would pay attention to her show. She's a bully and treated the other ponies badly, but she truly regarded Rainbow Dash as a friend, and she seemed to feel bad about letting her down... for a moment, anyway. I find it quite amusing (but sad) that some fans will go to the ends of the earth to justify Trixie's bad behaviour, but don't extend the same consideration to Gilda. Edit: The post below just serves to prove my pet theory... if Trixie had been mean to Fluttershy, she would have far fewer fans. Demiurge 108 July 30, 2012 Share July 30, 2012 People fail to realize that while Trixie (and Gilda) are antagonists in the show, they are not necessarily villains. Sure they may be mean but that's just they're personality. They're just misunderstood, not evil. Actually scratch that. I just remembered Gilda making Fluttershy cry. She IS evil and she can go get banished to the moon for all I care. Gilda is a hell of a lot more evil. Trixie seems more neautral to me. :/ Okay, I'm not even sure WHY Gilda is being mentioned here. Gilda is not evil. She more or less had a want to be with Dash and didn't want any interference at all. That interference being a direct result of Pinkie in the picture. So she was forceful and even bullied the pony, even others to try and optimize her time with Rainbow Dash. Does that make it better? No, it does not. Still, she's no evil. A more easily identifiable evil would be the Flim Flam Brothers. They tried to ruin business from other towns, in the episode Equestria was their next stop, and make their cider the stuff only they could sell effectively monopolizing their product. While not the evil that could hurt others physically, this would have devastating results on the Applejack family and anyone pertaining to close ties with them (Filthy Rich being an example here). If anyone has any doubts on their evil being an issue, just look up the effects of what Monopolization of anything can actually do to people. An example you say? Okay. The Bell company here in the states had full monopolization of the phone companies until the 80's. Did you know we had technology for cell phones dating around the 1940's? Wanna know why we didn't have them then? Bell didn't want to have a product that could damage their sales figures and kept the cell phone behind doors. It wasn't until the 80's that they were effectively closed from their system and forced to sell their company in bits - you may know those bits to being AT&T and Verizon primarily. So no. Trixie is not evil. Gilda is not evil. Lightning Flicker 101 July 31, 2012 Share July 31, 2012 Finally I know that I'm not alone in believing Trixie isn't evil. Well, it's true.. Anyways, on to my point, she's show offy, she boasts, and does cause problems in the show. But she's a performer! It's her job to over do things and over sell. It's true she could have been a bit nicer off stage, but honestly, that's no reason for people to hate on her and call her evil. Trixie is an innocent victim of persecution by the Mane Six. Samurshy 708 July 31, 2012 Share July 31, 2012 Lies beget lies, and coming from equestria where most every pony tells the truth, it means she is a bad pony. Not necessarily evil just bad. She treated every one of her members of her audience like they were all nothing more than dirt. She claimed to be the best unicorn but all she did was catch ponies off guard with cheap parlor spells that was harming or demeaning to the ponies who were up on the stage with her. She is a mean condescending jerk. And I would not be to broken up if I never saw her character again. [CLICK THE SIG FOR OC] (Signature created by Azura) Shinobu is best girl. Filly Pinkie Pie 208 July 31, 2012 Share July 31, 2012 Trixie is not evil, which is otherwise agreement. Trixie is just a show-off. Compare her to the differences of Gilda: Trixie:showed off, bragged, lied Gilda:was mean to the ponies, made Fluttershy cry I personally think anyone who makes Fluttershy cry is way worse than Trixie. Thanks PixiGlow for my PINKTASTIC SIG!!! Cute Avatar made by Dragonshy! Though you are shy and sweet, and I bake every treat, everyone has differences, even best friends, but I can't see the differences in you and me, my friend (formerly Pinkie Pie Rocks) You're only one good thing, and dreams are never worth a thing, my Fluttershy. ~Pinkie Pie
ponyvangelist 732 July 31, 2012 Share July 31, 2012 I personally think anyone who makes Fluttershy cry is way worse than Trixie. Indeed. In a place where friendship is magic and love and tolerance are the law of the land, making Fluttershy cry (at least on purpose -- she's kind of sensitive) is the one unpardonable sin. Trixie has her issues, but Gilda deserves a date with Colonel Sanders.

I like to think there's always a chance for redemption among friends, even if one has done something really bad. Bullies usually have a hidden side to them--an insecure side. They are afraid of something, and they feel inadequate. All they really need is a true friend! Granted, it's their choice whether to accept friendship or not, but I like to think it's never too late for someone to change their mind. I hope we get a "Trixie's Redemption" episode.
