I everypony!

 

I can see that this section of the forum is dominated by visual arts, but I'm going to try my luck anyway I've created this account/alias (whatever you want to call it) because I have been wanting to take my music in a new direction. And what better direction to take than one you're so passionate about and in love with?

 

Before I start anything, I would really love to hear some of your opinions on the whole pony-music world, what you like about it, and what you hate...

 

I exclusively create electronic music. I'd like to know what your initial reaction to this is! It seems today that just about EVERYONE with access to the internet is making electronic music, and obviously because of that, electronic artists generally get a bad wrap for it.

 

Anyway, I'm not sure where to start, or what sort of music to create. I'd like to create something unique, but still have an appeal. What are some of your favourite pony-related songs and why? Post them below! Just curious to know since I don't want to make something that has been done many times before

I beg to differ, not "everyone with access to the internet" is making elestronic, techno, music. Hell, I can not even make a bleep or a bloop. I think my favorite fan music from Bronies has to be the dubstep remix's that some bronies create. Personally I love Alex S. and own every pony related remix he has made.

Well, youknowwhatimean, people who download torrents for GarageBand and play loops for 30 seconds call themselves producers. Doesn't have a pretty effect on those of us who take making digital music a little more seriously

I only find some electronica untalented garbage. There are a lot of autotuned looped songs that a monkey could put together (I must be dumber than a monkey), but I can also respect good electronica when I hear it. I do firmly believe that it takes WAY more talent to learn an instrument and have a decent singing voice, however I also realize that (at least with the electronica I listen to) the way they orient certain synth, and sounds, creates a harmonic balance that takes a true artist to put together.

I listen to a fair amount of pony step and some people are very good at making it and other electronic music and dubstep. I think it's like everything, you get loads of people who think they can and then a few who actually can

 

Btw I like music that has a lot going on if that helps you with what to make

I like electronic like anypony else, maybe more so (seems as how I'm one of the ones with internet access xD ). It looks to me like there aren't THAT many people coming up with a line in garageband and calling it a song, but there are a few. I may sound like one, but it's because I love house. Well, I've been dabbling in dubstep recently, but nothing major.

 

For the pony music world? I think it's partially corrupt, and partially amazing. The corruption stemming form the publicity. I've seen artists (not myself, I still have a lot to learn) that are just as good or better than some of the top artists today, yet they get no recognition because EQD doesn't deem them worthy (which is just the "pre-listeners" judging). The Pre-listeners are a group of people with such a skewed way of judging the music, that only a couple actual electronic songs get through. Most of what they post is vocal, or instrumental.

 

The awesome portion, on the other hand is AWESOME. I've been seeing artists pop up recently that are SO AMAZING! All due to this show giving them a creative outlet. I've seen people's lives change for the better because of the music created by this community.

 

I believe electronic music is a fickle thing. So many people can make it, yes, but only a few can make it well. It takes time a practice to make a good track. Thing is, I don't have the patience nor the know-how to make such good stuff, but I do what I can with the materials I'm given. So far it's only FL Studio with Sytrus and Morphine as plugins.

Massive is close now... I can feel it. xD

 

Anyhoo, I can't wait to hear some of your stuff!

Its not bad to want to make music, even if you think everyone and their grandmother are doing it.

 

 

Pony related Electronic music isn't horrible, but doesn't feel as good as normal either. For some reason, thanks to the Balloon Party pack, most pony Dubstep producers seem to like Drumstep a whole lot, or from what I've seen.

 

As for what to to make, try not to think too much on whether its been done before. Just because it's been done before doesn't mean you shouldn't take a shot at it as well. You'll have to experiment and find whatever you like best. I like to dabble around with Dubstep, but I seem to feel like House/Techno and DNB are easier and a lot of fun as well.

Oh and you don't have to make Electronic music just cause its an electronic program. I've heard a few decent rock/metal songs coming from this thing as well.

I want to hear some of you're music. I create my own with my band. We have only done a few electronic songs. I'm the vocalist and i prefer doing them because singing is so much easier that way =D

 

I am obsessed with Glaze's music (He's that green pony dotted all over my account. See him? xD) He does amazing electronic music.

Thanks for your reply FL Studios is as good as any other DAW there is out there. It's how you use it that determines the quality of your music! Sytrus and Morphine are really power VSTs, awesome to hear that you use them! Massive is pretty good too, my personal favourite (as well as 90% of edm makers).

 

Would you mind sending me some of your tracks? I would really love to hear what you make! _{nice name too ;D}

Thanks for your input, it's given me some great starting ideas! I wish I could make something more like Alternative rock, but I just don't have appropriate samples. Not to mention lack of a vocalist, authentic sounding instruments and any sort of musical talent

 

What DAW are you running? Maybe we could get a few artists on this site together and organise a big collaboration!!!

Im running Fruity Loops Studio 10. Haven't tried Ableton Live or Cubase, though, I plan to sometime when Im not lazy lol

Also, Im still very very new to it. I've only had it and messed around in it for maybe bout a year.
