I have to roll things way back to mention two of my all time favorite movies.

"The Maltese Falcon" and "The African Queen"

Two movies as different as night and day, starring the wonderful Humphrey Bogart!

Jurassic Park- Jeff Goldblum as Ian Malcolm, need I say more? If I do, then DINOSAURS.

This

Everything in Jurassic Park is just flawless in my opinion.

While I like the sequels they don't hold a candle to the first.

I still have fond memories of watching Alucarda for the first time. Full frontal nuditiy, satanism and some of the cheesiest gore scenes just keep the memories alive.

Pan's Labyrinth

The Fifth Element

Alucarda

Metropolis (1927)

ByeBye Brasil

Nice to know there's another fan of Requiem For A Dream on here. I was so depressed at the end of that movie though, jesus christ.

Some of my favorites:

1: A Clockwork Orange- completely unforgettable and undeniably rewatchable. Malcolm Mcdowell is absolutely brilliant as Alex, even though he one of the most sadistic characters I've ever seen in a film he is also one of my all time favorites.

2: Barfly- Mickey Rourke plays Henry Chinaski, an alcoholic lowlife and aspiring writer. Brilliant performances all around and its based off Charles Bukowski's work (one of my favorite authors).

3: Sympathy For Mr Vengeance- god-tier Korean revenge flick. Pure hatred infusion. So good I can't describe it. Just watch it.

4: Hesher- one of the best movies to come out in the past 5 years IMO. I wanna live like Hesher when I'm older.

5: Witchfinder General- released in 1968. Classic horror film about Matthew Hopkins ( portrayed beautifully by Vincent Price) who condoned the murder of hundreds of women accused of practicing witchcraft. I've watched it every Halloween since I was 11.

Eh? Nandatte?

The Dark knight trilogy hands down. It's rare to find a trilogy nowadays where all three of the movies are good, the only other flawless trilogy I can think of is the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Hot Fuzz

From the same guys who made Shawn of The Dead, this movie spends the first half humorously subverting just about every famous action movie clique...before playing tribute to every single one of them in quick succession throughout the second half. Also, having watched the film with the dvd Hot Fuzz facts option, the sheer amount of subtle foreshadowing involved is mindblowing.

Avengers

What can I say that hasn't be repeated a hundred times over? If this movie is the bar on how to make a superhero movie, than that bar's pretty high.

Clue

Marked as being one of the first movies to be based on a game and arguably one of the best. A little slow getting in, but it picks up really quickly thanks to the efforts of Tim Curry, who quickly steals the show.

I'll have to split these up into a number of categories (apologies if I break the five movie limit):

Favorite Animated Movie: The Lion King - in my opinion, hands down the apex of the Disney Renaissance, and the greatest animated film of all time. Fantastic animation, fantastic songs, fantastic soundtrack, fantastic sound editing, fantastic ensemble cast, fantastic story... what else can you say but, FANTASTIC!!!!!!! B)

Favorite Superhero Movie: I'm gonna cheat a little here and say Christopher Nolan's "Batman Trilogy," and not just one of the movies within it. Why? Because frankly, I like to see the entire trilogy as one large, over-arcing story encompassing all three movies within the trilogy; to fully appreciate and understand each movie alone, you have to understand the role they play within the entire trilogy, and only then, once you understand them within that context, can one fully appreciate each movie on its own.

Favorite Fantasy Movie: Again, cheating a little here, but I gotta say that the Lord of the Rings Trilogy is hands down the greatest set of fantasy movies I've ever seen. I'm not gonna explain myself this time, since I think everypony will more easily understand why I went with the entire trilogy, and not just one movie within it, but I will say what I love about the trilogy as a whole. It's epic, riveting, adventurous, has jaw-dropping, beautiful visuals even by today's standards, a fantastic musical-score, and timeless themes that can touch anypony deeply. If you haven't read the books, do so as soon as you can!

Favorite Sci-Fi Movie: Gosh dang it, what is my problem with putting trilogies on this list!!! OK, OK, I won't cheat again and say the entire original Star Wars trilogy; I can safely say in this instance that my favorite movie out of the original Star Wars trilogy is easily "The Empire Strikes Back." While "A New Hope" is a blast of fun, and about as perfect a way to start any movie trilogy as one possibly can, "The Empire Strikes Back" expanded on everything that "A New Hope" established, expanding both the Star Wars universe, the concept of the Force, and the scale of the conflict between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance. On top of that, the movie had a whole lot of in depth character development, and one of the greatest twists in cinema history! What more could you ask for? NB: I apologize to anypony who, if you're like my summer job manager, disagree that Star Wars is a sci-fi movie in the first place, and is rather a fantasy movie. I myself actually lean towards this opinion as well, but I simply listed it as a sci-fi movie simply so I could both place LOTR's and Star Wars on my list. B)

Favorite Drama Movie: The Godfather, Part 1 - I love both Part 1 and Part 2 of The Godfather, but I gotta go with the first one largely because of Marlon Brando's phenomenal performance as Vito Corleone. Brando stole the show in Part 1 and made the conflicts in The Godfather seem both real and larger than life, giving them a sense of largeness and magnanimity. And no, I will never, ever watch Part III. EVER!!!!!

Favorite Comedy Movie: The Big Lebowski - Hands down, this is easily the best written comedy I've ever seen. From the minds of the Coen Brothers, The Big Lebowski is one of the most bizarre and random comedies out there. In fact, it's hard to say just exactly what makes it so good, but I think it comes down to the fact that as bizarre as the characters in the movie are, they are oddly enough all believable as characters. With phenomenal performances from Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, and many, many more, The Big Lebowski is one of the strangest, most random, and funniest movies you will ever see!

Favorite Romantic Comedy: Love Actually - Before you all ask, yes, I am a straight guy and I regularly watch rom-coms. I grew up for half my life with just my mom and my sister, what do ya'll expect! ^_^ Besides, to all the single guys out there, let me tell ya, the ladies love it when a guy can talk rom-coms with them!!! B) And in my experience, there is no other rom-com that the ladies universally love more than Love Actually, and you know something, I can see why. It has hilarious British humor, a fantastic ensemble cast of some of Britain's best actors and actresses, awesome stories, and some really sweet and touching messages. It is, in my opinion, the perfect rom-com, and I'd highly recommend it to anypony, girl or guy. Be warned though, it is rated R, for good reason, as it has some nudity and quite foul language. But, it is also a fantastic movie!

Genres I left out:

War Movies: Now don't get me wrong, when a war movie is good, I mean really, really good, I freakin' love it!!! But as a student of history, I felt that it would be wrong to list any one war movie as my favorite, since conflicts throughout history all have valuable lessons to teach us and are fascinating in their own ways. However, if I could pick one war movie that is probably my favorite, I'd probably go with Gettysburg. It's not as well known as other titles, but the movie impressively depicts the entire 3-day battle rather accurately while at the same time capturing the passion and human spirit on both sides of the conflict that drove the Civil War and made it such a landmark conflict in human history in the first place.

Musical Movies: I didn't list any musical movie mostly because I don't really watch musical movies that much. Now don't get me wrong, I love musicals, and when a musical movie is done right, I really like it, but frankly, I kinda prefer the theater experience for a musical as opposed to the movie theater experience.

Well, that about does it everypony! Hope ya'll like my list!!! And remember everypony, always, ALWAYS, watch good, quality entertainment!!! B)

Forrest Gump.

It's hard to desribe why, I think Tom Hanks was absolutely perfect for the role of Forrest. I love it so much since it is like a comedy movie mixed with drama. I laughed so hard during the entire thing then nearly cried at the end.
