Wait, so THIS is what made the xtremists go apeshit? The thumbnail looks like something a 6th grader made . And now they're attacking embassies everywhere, even ones that aren't ours (America)!

This is so bad, that I cannot even begin to collect all of my negative thoughts on it and put them into understandable sentences.

I don't see how anyone can NOT take this as a joke. I don't even. I hate. What. Let me just. Go kill myself now. idontevenknow

Let's not forget that there are significant cultural differences at work here, especially along the lines of differences in how religious tolerance works. In almost every single country with an Islamic majority, insulting the Prophet Muhammed is a criminal offense, often quite a severe one at that. Their cultures are far more authoritarian, which makes religious tolerance fairly difficult. You'll notice that Turkey is not experiencing the same kind of riots--that's because the Turks tend to be more religiously tolerant than other Muslim nations, owing to their historical inheritance from the religious tolerance of the Ottoman Empire.

So, yes, the movie is ridiculous and pathetic in our cultural eyes. But it is a great insult to them, and that is why there is so much anger. Most of the anger is peaceful at that, with only a small minority actively using violence.

Oh wow. The video lacks so much polish that it's practically comedy, yet it has a number of stories that are strangely familiar (esp the part about the women being split apart by two camels). The makers of this movie has probably done their research.

i laughed at that scene, its just, the way it was shot and the ugly green screen effects, my reaction was just kind of "lol what?" XD

The PRE-PLANNED attacks that started on the anniversary of the 9-11 DECLARATION OF WAR are being blamed on this dopey video as some feeble way to justify their sheer hatred of Americans. Edited by cuteycindyhoney

(Oh great, I'm the one Muslim here. This is going to be complicated)

I'm going to avoid watching that film for as long as possible. But, I know eventually my damn curiosity is going to get to me.

Kyronea made a great point. The cultures at involved here are fundamentally different. Islam and the Arab world was pretty blocked off from the rest of the world until the last century. It's a Culture that is having a hard time trying to keep up with the world, so much so that all these (stupid) groups come up and promise to keep things the same.

The PRE-PLANNED attacks that started on the anniversary of the 9-11 DECLARATION OF WAR ....

:/ (oh god, why must my fingers force me to keep typing....) There are some, uh, parts that you said that are kinda wrong.

When you say "they", please, please, please don't tell me that you meant "Muslims." Sorry, I just felt bad when I read that :(

First off, 9/11 wasn't a declaration of war, it was a TERRORIST attack. (<---- Read carefully. TERRORIST ATTACK). It was done by a bunch of people that thought western nations made a laughing stock of the Arab world (which is sorta true). Terrorism is sort of a horrible attention getter. Well, the radicals got it <..< (I could go on and on in a rant on how I hate terrorism, but not now)

.... justify their sheer hatred of Americans.

(warning, sarcasm <...<)

oh great, the "Sheer Hatred of Americans" card again (I get this a lot a school). Yes, Because all the former oppressed and tortured people in Arab countries are angry will all the US support and aid we've given <..< All the Afghan woman must be so angry with the fact that the US got rid of the Taliban and are re-giving women their deserved rights (I say RE-giving for a reason, since Afghan women had rights before most western women did... until the Taliban came). Pakistan, one of our biggest allies I might add, must be so angry with all the aid we give them.

Ah, you say, "what about the Libyans? They must really hate our guts." Yeah, they must, after we aided them in their revolution. And you think all the Libyians killed the ambassador? I'm sorry, but I take it you didn't see the giant crowds of ponies Holding up signs signs saying that they are sorry, and He was a friend of Libya (among other, very nice things)

This list goes on :/

Despite the fact that the US has messed with the Middle East many times and made many situations worse, The majority (yes, the MAJORITY) of them still support us. And when a video that completely insults them comes out, some of the bad people are going use that to get under their skin and get people angry at the US. It works on some of them, and bad things happen. It's sad, yes. Can we blame all of them? no, that's not fair.

Well, Sorry for that. I ranted a bit there just over some Politcal incorrectness <..< Sorry for that. I wasn't trying to insult ANYPONY, i just needed to get that out there.

great, wall of pointless text :/

i dont get whats worng with it to me it just looks like a really bad movie with bad actors i dont know why the muslims are so mad about it.

Well... With that, I reference you to @@AnonyPoni's post. Saying "the muslims" is stereotyping a people as a whole. The only people who do that kind of stuff are the extremist terrorists.

I truly did not mean to be upsetting to you. By "They" I meant the radical extremists of the Taliban that think nothing of mass murder to further their cause. The rest I stand by. I see the Taliban as an enemy army. Just because they have no set country or uniform doesn't make them less dangerous of an opponent. That horrifying attack was this splinter group's declaration of war.

Not only is merely PICTURING Muhammad an insult to radical Muslims, but this movie also mocks his existence and makes him out to be a child rapist, gambler, and an overall douchebag. I'd be mad too if I was a dedicated Muslim.

That hasn't been confirmed. The US Government "claims" that it was "too professional and layed-out" for it to be a response to the video, but that doesn't mean it was. al-Qaeda and other Islamic Terror groups note that the video was the straw that broke the camel's back.

So the terror groups then built a time machine and went back eleven years to September 11th? The argument that these terror groups wouldn't have done anything if it wasn't for this movie is completely illogical.

.......What?

I think you misread my post. I only meant that it hasn't been confirmed that the 9/11 anniversary had anything to do with the recent embassy attacks and that various terror groups said that it was the movie that prompted the attacks. Plus, it was mostly students, not terrorists.

Students can't be terrorists? That's a new one. Isn't roaming around killing any people you find that don't share your beliefs a terror act? It is certainly a mind boggling coincidence that the killing spree started on the anniversary of the initial cowardly attack. It's such a coincidence that I feel that believing that it really was would make me a naive idiot.

They were protestors. Most of them were not affiliated with any terror group. When you have an escalated situation with a lot of raging people, you get an angry mob. And what does an angry mob generally do? They grab their pitchforks and torches and start beating the hell out of others.

How is that any different from say the Los Angeles Riots of 1992? A lot of people were killed because of beliefs but they were not terrorists. They were mad and took it out on each other. That's just straight up violence.

But that wasn't the point I was trying make. I was just wondering what your first response meant. The whole "time machine" thing. It doesn't make any sense to me.

It really wasn't worth it. It was just a video depicting the prophet Muhammad to be some sort of pedophliac and a religious criminal.

I realize that it's blatant just meant to shock, but Muslims do hold Mohammed in very high regard. Now, calling someone a murderer, child molester, extortionist and rapist is huge no matter who it is. Accusing a revered part of a culture of those things... is just asking for backlash.

By time machine, I meant that it's stupid of the terrorists to claim they wouldn't have done anything if it wasn't for this movie. The movie didn't exist eleven years ago, What was their excuse for the killing of thousands of people on that day? Did someone drop a piece of bacon near a Qur'an? (Yes, that was bitter sarcasm) This is my last response in this thread. This forum is supposed to be fun. Discussing and trying to justify murderous cowards is not fun.

So you're calling me a terrorist sympathizer? All I'm saying is that not every Muslim protestor is a terrorist. Maybe al-Qaeda had something evil planned for the 11th anniversary. Maybe they didn't. WE DON'T KNOW. The US Government assumed it and al-Qaeda has denied it, so there's no factual evidence. I'm just saying never assume stuff unless it's claimed to be the truth.

To be honest, these guys aren't "murderous cowards". We have imperialized their lands for far too long and it's coming back to bite us in the ass tremendously. Not every protestor there on the incident were involved with 9/11, they just have anti-American feelings. I would too if I had a different country patrolling our streets and telling us how to live our life. You have to put yourself in their shoes.
