Riverleaf Breeze 47 January 7, 2012 Share January 7, 2012 How could one pony live so long? I remember thinking it was not the same pony, when they mentioned a pony named Celestia who was around a 1000 years ago. But now,I'm not so sure.

TomokoKuroki 1,707 January 7, 2012 Share January 7, 2012 Well she did banish her sister 1000 years ago from the time episode 1 season 1 was at. So I assume she does, or has an extremely prolonged life due to alicorn magic.
Doctor XFizzle 8,669 January 7, 2012 Share January 7, 2012 She's immortal as long as she wants to be immortal. orrrrr she's like a timelord in Doctor Who. She regenerates into a new alicorn and this is her latest appearance. orrrrr the power of the princess is transferred to a new, worthy pony and the power turns them into Princess Celestia (white, long flowing pink/green/blue mane, etc) so we could be on Princess Celestia number 12 right now or something 1 MLP Forums' resident timelord, sports dilettante, and purveyor of wit and humor~*Traveling Timelord Nonpareil*~

Blank Flank 69 January 7, 2012 Share January 7, 2012 Maybe she has a storeroom of clones that whenever she is about to die she magically transfers her memories into a new copy and then the clone resumes power, making it seem like she is immortal.

Fizz. 1,078 January 7, 2012 Share January 7, 2012 I think it's just really long lifespans. Have you noticed there are no other alicorns? http://alt="img-3411728-1-kQpW0ME.png">
Arylett Charnoa 4,919 January 7, 2012 Share January 7, 2012 I think just a really long lifespan since Equestria could survive without her/Luna. Before she even came into play, the unicorns raised the sun and the moon. So this kind of gives credence that she's not really so much a natural force of nature as just a long-living species of pony. I figure she was just a normal pony like any other in her childhood, growing up, until she discovered her special talent was raising the sun. Luna as well. And then the unicorns (and the other ponies), figuring that it would be much easier if they had one pony to do it for them (who also seemed more powerful), allowed them to be the rulers since they combined all the traits of all ponies. That's just a theory though. Aether Velvet is the name of the OC in my avatar. Drawn by me. Deviantart

Fizz. 1,078 January 7, 2012 Share January 7, 2012 Oh right Hayze! That still doesn't disprove my theory, in fact in only supports it. Alicorns might have very few children in very long spans. http://alt="img-3411728-1-kQpW0ME.png">
Tom The Diamond 1,830 January 7, 2012 Share January 7, 2012 (edited) Actually, there is! Look at the filly closest to Twilight on the right. Enough said. http-~~-//www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TwDtb0D_Ig That was confirmed to be an animation error though. So can it really be called canon? Anyway, I'll just go on with my theory that Celestia, Luna, and Discord are pretty much Gods/Goddesses(Heck, they even call Discord the Spirit of Chaos). After all, they all have uber power, all have lived for an incredibly long time, presumably forever, and haven't showed any real signs of aging, as confirmed in the latest episode. And yeah, the Unicorns raised the sun before, but if I remember correctly, they said Unicorns, implying ALL the Unicorns. So raising the sun and moon must have been incredibly draining, and I'm doubt they'd want to lower it soon after raising it, and might have even kept the sun up for a few days. So when Celestia came in, she could raise the sun easily, allowing the Unicorns to go off and do other things, like fashion, and books, and Trixie. Thats just my little theory though. Skar 324 January 7, 2012 Share January 7, 2012 (edited) It's not a vision, it's a memory. Acutally, it's a thought really, a "picture in her head" cause she says "She'll send me back to grade school!" and then the screen transitions into it. If it was a memory she would've been a filly, right? So I really do believe it's just something she was picturing. (The other filly's are laughing at her because she's too old for the class) If you're curious it's from Lesson Zero in season 2. (You probably knew that but you never know) Good point, but she is most likely thinking up the image based on previous experiences, so therefore it is a memory but then also a new thought as well.I have no idea what I'm talking about I just want to be right. Lady Rarity Pony 4,892 January 8, 2012 Share January 8, 2012 Sure looks like it, she has been around for 1,000 years and still looks the same age. I wouldn't necessarily say she is immortal but it looks like she can live forever without a natural death. LRP's opinions are subject to change without notice. Fees and penalties still apply. Goodra 531 January 8, 2012 Share January 8, 2012 Possibly, she could have used a youth spell on herself and her sister or something. Plus, she kinda needs to be immortal cuz she controls the sun and all.
