Oh please. Today's television and music glorify sex and violence so much that it's simply routine now, and not as taboo as it used to be, so I don't see why video games should be exempted from that. The only people today that I can recall even caring for the opposition of sex and violence in these mediums are Conservatives and Common Sense Media. In fact, I remember when Eminem was being investigated by the FBI because he made a violent statement in one of his raps towards former president George W. Bush. Nowadays, you can listen to any hip hop/pop/rap song and the singer can swear like a sailor, talk about getting drunk, hardcore partying, and getting tons of sex, and glorify gang violence or bar fights and the FCC/Government won't simply give a shit, because as we all know when the FCC went against NWA, the rap group proclaimed the FCC's lawsuit was a violation of free speech and therefore won their case by a landslide. There's really nothing any federal organization can do besides regulate content related to the show's supposed demographics.

I'm perfectly fine with sex and violence in video games simply because I really don't care. As long as the gameplay is solid, the storyline is interesting, and the overall environment is interesting and appealing, that's all that matters in the end.

I'm okay with games like that with sex and violence. Hell look at Saints Row 3 and I don't think there had ever been a more beautiful piece of art than that game... Although it doesn't need to be everywhere. The occasional game is fine.

I am pretty level headed about the whole thing. Violence is pretty much present in every video game in some way or another. I am slightly disgusted by games with excessive meaningless violence, but it's the people's choice to buy them. I won't buy it because I don't like that kind of stuff, but just because I don't like something doesn't mean that I want it banned! That's just silly!

Please note, I mean excessive MEANINGLESS violence. In horror games, I actually appreciate gory scenes in this genre as it adds genuine threat to the villain or antagonist. They usually cause a jump scare shortly after the scene too.

Violence is meh, many of the greatest video games or the really fun ones are violent, but sex, heck no, don't we have enough of that in television nowadays?

I don't really care, so long as it's not meant to be meaningless or just there because the people weren't creative enough to think of anything to do.

For example, the Witcher games are very graphic, and there's a lot of swearing as well, but that's how it was meant to be. I think it's an amazing game. Obviously I don't think that little kids should be playing it, and even I'm not yet old enough to buy M rated games, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate the beauty of the artwork and the storyline. It's still fabulous. And the time it's set in was like that.

And Assasin's Creed, too. While not quite as bad as the Witcher, it still has its moments, but the game is amazing all the same because you know they're not TRYING to make it that way.

I'm bad at explaining my feelings, sorry ;_;

Games like Duke Nukem and stuff just do it because there's some weird race of who can out-brutalize the other.

In my opinion I don't think sex should be in games. As for violence, I dislike mindless violence like in GTA. As long as their is a good reason to do so. For example in Halo, the main reason your fighting is because your trying to save the human race from extinction. Not were your killing just to kill or killing over gang wars, drugs, money, etc.

Have you tried playing God of War? God of War 2 and 3? Those games are really really violent and bloody (especially the third) and you basically play as the bad guy as you are trying to kill the gods of the world. Hack 'n' slash games are what you need :)

Well those are fictional characters that aren't even popular these days. There are lots of games where you play as americans killing nazis, north koreans, russians but there aren't any where you play pas as a nazi or KKK and killing from their racist perspective.I think that they probably slap any game that is not politically correct with the AO.

There isn't even any game where it portrays the racists in a positive light despite the millions of nationalists and supremacists so something must be up.

videos that promotes racialism on youtube are taken down with DMCA despite not infringing on any copyright.

Its nearly impossible to find a non-violent video game, the closest I can think of is the sims.

But violence I reckon is quite welcome in games, to be honest they would be pretty boring without it. It only bugs me when I'm playing a Ma15+ game (say gears of war) when I hear a little kid no older then 10-12 screaming the mic threatening to tear my dick off and feed it to his dog, there is a reason why they are rated Ma parents, don't let your 10 year old kid play them.

As for sex, most of the time its kinda tacked on and kinda awkward(especially when parents walks past the instant it starts playing)

I don't really have a problem with it, since if it's in bad taste in a video game, I simply won't get the game. I like my video games with good gameplay, intelligent, riveting storylines, great characters, and/or fun multiplayer.

As for other consumers, I think that, up to a certain age, it's up to parents to ensure that, if they don't want their children to play games with too much sex and violence, they don't do so; the companies that make the games themselves are in no way obligated to censure or monitor what content ends up in their games. Children and the entertainment and media they are exposed to are parents' responsibility, not game companies, or any other media distributor. Now, that's not to say that I don't think parents shouldn't demand high quality content for children as well, and that's why I appreciate a show like MLP: FiM, because too few childrens shows these days are both high quality and age appropriate. But what media we expose ourselves to (save for young children) is our own personal responsibility, and so I say, let these game companies produce the content that they want to. I simply choose not to get it if it's in bad taste.

The problem is that even when these games have an M rating, parents will still blindly buy it for their 13 year old kid. That's why we have so many kids playing Grand Theft Auto when they're 12 years old, which is just ridiculous.Violence is fine, but like I said it should still be restricted to older people, there should be a rule that you can't have your parents buy you an M rated game when you're under 17 until you're at least 14.

Now hold on here, I got no problem with Sex and Violence, just make sure you put some age limits on those things and enforce them as well. Writing 'M' in black and white wont do anything. Like when I was 3, I played GTA and without knowing, walked into the uh....you know.

I think violence and sex in games are fine. America as a culture will fight anything they can/ Violence and sex in games are mostly looked at as bad by parent to protect their kids. While I believe there should be a limit on how much violence and sex are in games kids play, it should be the parents job to watch what their kids play. Violence and sex in the games themselves should't change.

Also if you look at Japan they have a lot more sex and violence in their games. Also much less crimes in their country. I'm not saying that they are related, it could be the difference in culture. However, there are studies out there that show that violence in game lessen a person's desire to commit crimes. The studies show that the players relieve their desire to commit crimes through playing the games.

Violence: I haven't really had a huge problem with violence in video games, as someone said previously, it is almost totally in escapable. However i will have a query with some games if i look at something and i think the game is being violent for the sake of it, not for the realism of the game, its hard to explain.

Sex: I think needs to be taken with a pinch of salt and treated as such. A bit makes the plot or concept of a game more realstic (in some cases) or makes some characters more in depth. While some games Eg: Red alert 3, Some aspects of the batman arkham series (i love them but seriously look at the gals :o) Are almost practically nothing but soft porn and really should be crtised for it.

It's creative freedom.

Back then, game designers could not use much to produce games like they can today, as well as back in a day where the consumers morality was different then it is today would explain a bit. (Even SNES Ad's at the end give a warning that all kids should have their parents help set up the console, what kind of gaming ads do that today?) There was also a big change in regulation. For example, Conkers Bad Fur Day was given a M rating for its references to alcohol, sex, violence, blood, etc. But today, they would have given it a T rating.

IMO, I have no problem with violence or sex in video games. I don't play many games like that but it's not in my power to force people not to play them, neither the governments.

For me, violence in Video Games isn't much of an issue, as stated before, most games have it to a degree. Though overly violent games I do tend to try and stay away from. Sex however, should try to be avoided in games for the most part. I for one have played DA: Origins and granted I am trying to get all the hook-ups they at least did it with taste. However, even then probably could of skipped the whole bed scene in the first place.

Also do get a bit tired of all the sex appeal in the women. Especially ones who almost fall out of their clothing (what little there is to begin with). That is my issue with sex is that women sometimes tend to be very little dressed with over the top breast sizes.

I don't care what's in the game as long as there isn't a 12 year old insulting my mother on the other side which rarely happens since most violent games I play are cartoony like Lego star wars.

but I think people should be informed about the content of the game they are buying for them or others.
