Hey guys, i have recently been getting into the "retro" gaming scene, and need some good recommendations for some games! (Or even consoles too!) I currently have a SNES/NES combo, and these games:

SNES-

Simcity

Super Mario RPG

Top Gear

Wario's Woods

DK Country

Starfox

Super SF II

UN Squadron

F-Zero

Zelda: Link to the Past

I also have Dig Dug II, SMB, and Zelda for the NES

Can you guys give me some good games, any kind will do, as long as they are affordable. (so no 100$ earthbound please.)

Super Metroid, Super Mario World, Secret of Mana, and Chrono Trigger are some of the best games you dont have listed I can think of at the moment. There's also Donkey Kong Country 2+3 and Illusion of Gaia (which I haven't beaten but is a very fun game also)

I see no Super Mario World... you need that, trust me.

Other than that you should try to get Super Metroid, Chrono Trigger, and any classic Final Fantasy. I don't have any to give you sorry, but those are my reccomendations. ;)

EarthBound! Holy crap it's soooo goooood!

Also, Final Fantasy 6 is pretty good, so is Chrono Trigger.

Super Mario World is to be implied.

Illusion of Gaia is pretty underrated in my opinion.

Those are the only ones I can think of at the moment.

Objection! Hold it! Take that! Gotcha! Eureka!

I like video games and anime.

Earthbound, oh how I'd love to play that, even if its battle system looks a little too much like Dragon Quest which I'm not too big on, and it's rather hard to find and hundreds of dollars if you can, and I'm not a fan of emulating/pirating... oh well, maybe some day. :(

Do you guys know any good NES games?

I really want to expand my library as much as i can, and so far you have only recommended SNES games.

I wish i could help in that regard, I actually just got myself a NES, and am also trying to find games that are good. But really, I only know of the bad games from watching the Angry video game nerd. You said you already had the zelda games and mario's so... I don't know what to tell you as of yet... if I do find one I shall let you know.

Oh yeah Super Ghosts and Goblins, Zombies Ate my Neighbors, and Castlevania IV for SNES also

For NES I would reccomend Castlevania 1 and 3, Zelda 1 and 2 (it's not as bad as people say it is), Kirby, and Mario Bros 2 and 3 were great as well. Also Megaman of course ^ 1-3 were very good

Super Mario Bros 3 is pretty much perfection. Grab yourself a copy of Super Mario All-Stars, cause it has the best version of SMB3.

Rad Racer is a must.

Prisoners of War for the NES is pretty good. I actually enjoyed it a fair bit better than any NES Double Dragon game. Blasphemy, I know.

Startropics and Startropics 2 are fantastic games.

For SNES, Battletoads & Double Dragon's a hard-as-nails but fun beat-'em-up.

Contra III's fantastic as well. Even better with a friend.

And Chrono Trigger's pretty much my favorite SNES game of all time. Even by today's standards it's pretty amazing.

Some of the games that the Game Grumps were playing.

SNES

Kirby Super Star

Goof Troop

Aladdin (CAPCOM)

Animaniacs (It's a good one as well)

SMW2 Yoshi's Island

Super Mario World

Zombies Ate My Neighbors

Link to the Past (It is Zelda BTW)

Mega Man 7

NES

Mario 3 (Best game ever BTW)

Ninja Gaiden (If you enjoy challenge)

Tetris

DuckTales (Woo-ooh!)

Mega Man 1 to 6

Batman

Bucky O'Hare

Legend of Zelda (Classic video game!)

Zelda II: Adventure of Link (The only GOOD zelda sidescroller, NOT counting the awful CDi games)

There are too many other good ones to name... so good luck searching for more choices!

Oh yeah, everyone needs Super Mario World, Arguably the best Mario game ever created, in my opinion.

For NES, one NEEDS Super Mario Brothers, Centipede, Zelda, and Duck Hunt. Duck Hunt is a CLASSIC.

You are right! But it would be nice if I had a working gun... :(

I don't know why, but even though I still have a CRT TV, the gun STILL does not work. :( :(

You've got to get Super Mario World (the one with Yoshi, best Mario ever imo)

Star Fox (SNES, self explanatory)

Super Metroid (this one's a must-have)

Metroid (NES, fing awesome game)

Legend of Zelda (NES, duh)

Super Mario Brothers (NES, duh)

Mario 2 (NES, so underrated)

Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES)

or if you want all those Mario's you could get the All-Star Collection, but I hear cartridges for that are pretty rare these days.

Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time (NES)

Metal Gear (NES, kickass but a watered down version of the MSX one)

I heard Chrono-Trigger was good but I never played it.

Duck Tales (NES), the epitome of 80's-ness.

DuckTales (Woo-ooh!)

You are officially cool. Edited by Scootaghost

For NES... I say Zelda II and Bionic Commando, I like those two but they're mega tough, good luck with them... Also Super Mario Bros. 2, which is highly underrated imo but I liked it 'cuz it was different. ;)

Super Mario games are must play, most would recommend SMW or SMB3 the most, but personally I think yoshis Island is by far the best

I highly recommend the other 2 DKC games, especially DKC2

Chrono Trigger is an absolute classic RPG

ZOmbies Ate my Neighbors is amazing multiplayer game

I can keep going, SNES games are amazing, Nes as well, but i suck at NES games.

ALso getting Mega man X for SNES and Megaman 2/3 for NES would be great

Yes, I'm probably beating a dead horse at this point, but the absolute best platform games of all time are:

Mario 3 (NES)

Super Mario World (SNES)

Donky Kong Country (SNES)

IMO the MegaMan series and Jurassic Park (Genesis version, not SNES) get honorable mentions

Best fighting games are:

Street Fighter II (SNES)

Mortal Kombat II (SNES)

Killer Instinct (SNES)

Double Dragon (NES)

Streets of Rage (Genesis)

Turtles in Time (SNES)

RPGs:

Sadly, I never got into console RPGs until the 5th generation when Oblivion, Fallout 3, etc arrived

I never really got into the whole SNES scene but, I do have a couple of suggestions. Sonic Blastman and Mario Kart, surprisingly no one mentioned that second one.

These are rare but who knows, right?

Demons Crest

The Ninja Warriors Again

Really? Rare you say? I have two copies of it for SNES, and I still play (one of them) semi-frequently. How much would you say one could sell that cartridge for?
