Really? Rare you say? I have two copies of it for SNES, and I still play (one of them) semi-frequently. How much would you say one could sell that cartridge for?

I'm not sure, but around where I live they're pretty scarce.

And how could I have forgotten Bionic Commando? That game had an epic soundtrack.

Earthbound was the game of my childhood. It's really a stunning game, and I highly recommend it.

There's loads of other good ones, of course, but I'm too lazy and they've pretty much been listed.

Okay guys, thanks for all the feedback. I am heading over to the local gaming store (vintage stock) and picking up a couple of games, hopefully they have SM all stars and SMW.

Good luck on finding some good games, you might even encounter some great rare gems going for less, so be sure to look out!

Be sure to play the heck out of them!

NES/SNES video game recommendations? Wish I'd seen this thread sooner, since the NES and SNES are up my alley!

For the NES, I'd suggest....

The obvious Zelda II, Dragon Warrior games, Mario games, Kirby, Castlevania, Mega man.... As a general rule, Nintendo's games, as well as the classics you always hear about.

Air Fortress is a fun game. First part of each stage is a side-scrolling shooter, but then you get in the bases and it becomes a platformer.

Duck Tales. Fun platformer based on the TV series of the same name. Holds up today.

Monster Party. This game is weird. It's gotten a few negative reviews of it, but it's not horrendously expensive, and even if you don't like the gameplay itself, the sheer bizarreness of the game makes up for it.

Now, on to SNES. I'll go more in-depth for these.

Super Castlevania IV: This game takes the previous games' mechanics, and improves upon them, giving you much more control. Better jumping, ability to whip in 8 directions, you really don't feel like you're losing because the game pulled a cheap one, like with previous games in the series. Looks great, sounds great, plays great.

Donkey Kong Country 2, and 3. I dunno if you have these yet, but get them. Now. These are some of the essential games for the console IMO. DKC2 improves upon DKC1, and DKC3 improves upon DKC2. They're all good games. Old-school Rare at their climb to the peak (which they reached in the N64 era IMO).

Megaman X 1-3. Great games, comparable to Super Castlevania IV in the sense that they're both sequels to NES-era games, with improved mechanics and controls. Still can't shoot upwards, but you can do such maneuvers as dash-jumping, wall scaling, and other things, and they all feel natural.

Zombies Ate My Neighbors. Amazing overhead shooter, where you run around a map rescuing people, and fighting zombies, werewolves, and other horror movie monsters. Fun single player, but better multiplayer. Tons of variety in level layouts, enemies, weapons, it definitely holds up today.

Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest. This game gets slammed by critics, sadly. But once you get past its flaws, it's really a great game. Its simplicity, which people complain about, actually gives it charm, and it's an RPG you can play without thinking too hard. It looks nice, and its music is excellent.

May think of more suggestions in the future. If so, I'll be sure to post 'em.
