I like to play team fortress 2! ^^ umm...I am not too good, but I would love to speak about it and I would not mind to play it with a few ponies ♥

How about we play sometime then? Just don't get too excited if we're up against each other, for you might get a piece of my sign!

I really like to play tf2. Well actually it is pf2 (pony fortress 2) on my computer. XD

I use many pony-mods and my favourite classes are Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Applejack and Twilight Sparkle aka. Scout, Medic, Engineer and Sniper. Pinkie Pyro is fun to play, too and whenever I play Rarity (Spy) I die nearly instantly what might have lead to me not liking Rarity very much.

There is only Celestia, and she is our shield and protector.

(Second Book of Chantings)

Everything I like is either illegal, immoral, fattening, addictive, expensive or impossible.

Spot on!

Scout, Pyro, Heavy, Medic, Sniper and Spy are my favorites. Who wants some of this?

That is the most beautiful image of Scout that I have ever seen. I think its the hair, it makes me want to be a better man.

Pyro+Scout=Best classes ever!

I officialy can say i quit TF2.

Makes me angry, don't ask me why.

I will give all my items to Rook except for El Jefe.

I edited, if you'd like to hear why i quit.

Oh pony, sad to hear you're quitting.Well, if it feels like it's the best option then go onwards, friend!

About the degreaser; it basically removes the weapon-heckle weakness and makes puff n' sting alot easier, but afterburn won't hurt as much. Possibly therefore the most popular flamethrower of choice as the weapon switch speed is simply too good to pass out on.

Mkay, with us having a TF2 server, I'm gonna be wayyyy more active now. Here's a link to the announcement of the server's existence in case anypony missed it.

Anyways, I'm thinking of holding some kind of hat giveway contest once TF2 picks up more around here. Good idea? Bad idea?

  • 2 weeks later...

I like the Spy and the Pyro, and im also the guy who goes to engi if we need one, but don't have any.

Random crits are crap IMO.. I just hate how your perfect plan fails because someone gets a random crit, killing you, and I also feel bad when I get a kill only because I got lucky. I gotta find more good NoCrit servers...

Remember; if they can random crit, so can you!

Exactly. That's pretty much whenever I see somebody cry about random crits being unfair. In most cases, you don't see them complaining when they're the ones firing a crocket into a crowd of five, do you?

To me, they help keep the game exciting; that little bit of unpredictableness that can change the winning team.

Anyway, here are some things I happen to be on the lookout for. I'm willing to trade something (Another weapon, possibly a scrap in some cases) for any of these things.

A Jag, Powerjack, Soda Popper and Southern Hospitality.

Crits aren't totally random: they're based on a certain percentage related to how much damage you've done over a period of time. I think the maximum percentage you can reach is a 20% chance of dealing a critical hit---at least with ranged weapons; melee has a slightly different dynamic. Otherwise, it's around 5% base, if I recall correctly.

My qualm about crits, however, is that they still introduce a fairly uncontrolled element of chance into a battle encounter. Tactical decision making effectively takes a backseat if some Heavy begins to fire unassisted crits (i.e., without the Kritzkrieg). Some of it does have to do with the skill of the player, but there remains a baseline percentage which allows even subpar players to benefit from just pressing the "fire" button without much credance. You don't need to do much other than click Mouse 1 since, unlike the Spy or Sniper, it isn't a contextual action.

But I can live with critical hits. They've been part of the game since its inception. The three biggest problems I have with the current gameplay are thus:

1) Valve got too item happy, causing TF2 to lose a good portion of its initial simplicity and elegance.

2) Some weapons have become pure buffs rather than alternatives dependent on the situation (e.g., Equalizer, Degreaser).

3) Based on problems one and two, TF2 has become increasingly inaccessible to new players.

You make good points about the crits. I didn't know there was more to it than just pure randomness, though.

1) "Valve got too item happy" I agree with this. Soldiers can now heal themselves and set others on fire, for example.

2) "Some weapons have become pure buffs rather than alternatives dependent on the situation" I agree with this as well. I add to your examples, though; The Amputator, for example. Exact same stats as bonesaw, but it's taunt heals surrounding allies. Is there any reason to use the default bonesaw over it? And the Liberty Launcher. It's rockets launch 40% faster, but it holds 1 less rocket per clip. That lets noobs spam fast-moving rockets down hallways with little penalty. I hate skill-crutches like this.

Ending my rant. Apparently a new promotional item got added this update. Anypony want to make a guess what it might be? My bet is some huge-corporation game that doesn't need the publicity that's coming out soon, since they've been doing that lately with Deus Ex and all.

The game scrap pack is associated with isn't main stream, I was actually really surprised valve did a deal with them o.O must actually be a pretty decent game.
