I'm reading Swan Song by Robert McCammon.

If you've read The Stand by Stephen King it's very similar. But that's a good thing. It's long and I'm only about 100 pages in but it's great so far!

Finished up Summer Knight at work, the last in a four audio book binge from the Dresden Files. Which is basically Harry Potter, if he became a hard boiled detective.

I know there are many more books after this, but I liked how this one ended. Felt like if The Chronicles of Narnia was also a murder mystery and political conspiracy film. Though out of the four I've read, I prefer the second, Fool Moon. Cause its about werewolves. Like, all the werewolves. Name a kind of werewolf, It's gonna be in there. And there all waging gang wars on one another.

And you can listen to them all here!

The next book in the series is done! You've probably got about a year to catch up before it comes out.

I've nearly finished going over the new material in the rivers and expanded edition of The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien. I've also been reading The Art of The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim by Daniel Falconer.

I've just ordered a copy of the novel LexCorp by Elliot S! Maggin (Last Son of Krypton; Superman: Miracle Monday). Maggin also wrote the prose novelization of the graphic novel Kingdom Come

Quote

I never set out to get rich and don't much care whether or not I stay that way. Really. Wealth is a tool, like a hammer or a patent. It was just that when I get an idea in my head – and I have a galaxy's worth of ideas – I generally figure out how to make it real.
"Abra Kadabra!" as they say in Aramaic.
"Lex, how much money do you have, really?" a girl I met once asked me.
"All of it," I told her. That was true.

As a matter of fact, I am buying my third (3rd) copy of The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran right as I post this. My third copy will be for reading often. My second copy will be so that I will never be without this book. My first copy will now be for giving away to some random person I meet. Millions upon Millions of people have read this book in multiple languages over many decades. Among many of us, giving away a free copy of this book as a spontaneous act is part of...whatever you'd call it.

Lexcorp was a fun read. I never expected to ever see a prose novel where Lex is protagonist and wins through at the end.

What I'm reading now:

image.jpeg.e9d1ec7df3ebd1cbc1fb4837ed66465d.jpeg

Description:

Quote

The warrior Red Sonja, the famous fiery She-Devil of Hyrkania, has never concerned herself with the consequences of her actions. She’s taken what she wanted, from treasure to drink to the companionship of bedfellows. She’s fought who deserved it (and sometimes those who didn’t). And she’s never looked back.

But when rumors start bubbling up from her homeland—rumors of unknown horrors emerging from the ground and pulling their unsuspecting victims to their deaths—and a strange voice begins whispering to her in her sleep, she realizes she may have to return to the country that abandoned her. And finally do the only thing that has ever scared her: confront her past.

I recently checked out a stack of books from the local library for self-improvement in general.

There are various areas where I would like to work on, such as further improving my discipline, building more trust and empathy, becoming a better listener, and much more through these various books.

The following two books are books that I read as a child, but I recently decided that I wanted to revisit them as an adult.

I realized that when you revisit stories that you read from the perspective as a child and then many decades later as an adult, it allows for a lot of introspection and growth.

The first two books I read as a child were: "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen Covey and "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie.

I would highly recommend those two books for anyone here looking for self-improvement ideas in general.

Stephen Covey has another two books regarding trust called "Trust & Inspire" and "The Speed of Trust" that were very interesting and part of the stack that I recently checked out.

To be concise, both books discuss the various nuances of trust in terms of dimensions and principles to how people value and perceive them. It's rather invaluable information in regards to wanting to connect with others in my opinion. Many great and famous CEOs across the world have praised Stephen Covey's books as he brings sound logic and personal experience into his teachings. There were a lot of great things in both books as I went through them, but it's going to take a while to absorb every little detail. Some of the practical information must be put into use every day, through different levels of accountability so that you are on top of your growth.

I'm learning that creating accountability, practicing openness, basically trust, requires constant effort. We learn through trial and error, but we will learn as we improve as people.

There are several more books in my stack, but I will wait to write on them once I get there!
