New here, Debating starting a Webcomic

I just posted a long-winded introduction over in the... well... introductions area... >.> I guess if you want to know more about me there's that! XD

ANYWAY! I joined this community partially to get input on a project I'm debating starting. It's a webcomic with an overarching plot that follows the tale of two humans who get unwittingly ponified and their struggles to adapt and find their way home. I don't want to give away too much of the plot, because there's a lot that plays into the how and why of these events that I want to be a surprise to my readers. The two will interact with canon ponies, probably live in Ponyville, and may also interact with fan-made ponies.

While having the main story somewhat outlined, I do want the community to be part of this project, so if I decide to go forward with it, your input will be invaluable! From art, to technique, story suggestions and maybe even some production assistance, all will be greatly appreciated!

Below are some samples. Take into consideration that these suck and that you will be staring at this crap, straining your eyes to try to get a convoluted, silly story that may not be worth the pixels they're published on.

So should this be pursued?

Thanks for your time!

Well, I have no Idea what is going on, but my mind is putting captions on it anyway and it's hilarious. ( Especially third and fourth frame. )

Well, what kind of assistance do you really seek? You say something like art ( even though you got that already nicely covered ), storyline etc... I wouldn't mind helping with the latter but I suppose you want input from more than just one random dude on a forum. My only concern would be when people disagree... ( especially there is no way to use rational arguments in an opinion so it might devolve into drama )

But whatever you choose to do, the style is nice ( so far ) and I think with a good ( as in, witty and concise ) writer this might get nice!

Well thank you! As for help I'd be thankful for any and all, but I'd hope to create a concise, open group that wants to assist with the overall flow of the comic. I've found that when working with creative groups, it's best to have a project lead that gets a final say on ideas. Basically, anyone who is selected to help needs to realize that not all of the ideas will make it into the final product, and if they do they may not be exactly the way they intended. What you need to remember is that you're part of this group because you're good at what you do and your input is valuable, and your ideas may be used eventually, or even affect the flow of another idea. All ideas are good ideas, but some may be better than others, and others yet may be made even better when ideas are combined!

I love working with people. Brainstorms are the best way to make lightning strike!

The art is top notch (colouring could use some work though). But as the creator of a (very much) failed webcomic, I implore you to make sure that you:

-can handle the work pensum

-think that the story is worth being told this way

Yeah, I have a lot of issue with coloring and inking, as by nature I'm a graphite sketch artist. I'm teaching myself a few techniques here and there, but in all honesty, this is somewhere I would look for help.

I think that I've got the time and the patience, and I think cartooning is my best medium for storytelling. I have a lot of experience with doing comic strips (well over 10 years) and very rarely is one I do poorly received. My biggest issue is dedicating myself to it, but two things that would bind me to it are A.) A strong creative group, and B.) A hungry fanbase.

Godspeed to you then.

What will your story be then?

Have you considered just having it in greyscale with minimal shading?

Btw, whats the story with the 40k-ish avatar?

Basically the story involves two humans getting unwittingly transferred to Equestria and Ponified. The story is of them coping and adapting to their new environment while trying to solve the mystery of their displacement and find a way back home. The girl is Kat, an Earth Pony with a knack for gadgetry and engineering and a love for animals as she relates to them better than social counterparts. The male is Drew, a unicorn with a love for art and creative thinking, but he's not so great with the magic he's just newly acquired. The two were just recently engaged before being displaced to Equestria, and their love is the rock through this struggle to find answers.

As for the avatar, Good eye! ;)
