If in the Apocalypse you had to choose between your brother or sister to save could you pick?(If you don't have one pretend you do)

Edited by Pr3datorTaco

As men judge generally more by the eye than by the hand, because it belongs to everybody to see you, to few to come in touch with you. Every one sees what you appear to be, few really know what you are, and those few dare not oppose themselves to the opinion of the many

Well considering the fact i don't have a sister i'd have to choose my brother, even if I did have a sister its hard to imagine feelings for her without having one, thats why i choose my brother.

However I don't have to go saving anybody because the Apocalypse isn't happening anytime soon :P. Probably not in my lifetime even.

My pet snake. I'd prefer him over two people I don't believe exist. Plus he's like my best friend. Which is both pathetic and awesome.

That awkward moment you realize you own two snakes. :(

I only have a sister so I'd save her no matter what but If I had a brother as well I'd sacrifice myself if it men't I could save the both of them. My life is insignificant compared to the trillions of lives here on Earth.

I really do not know if I could ever live with myself for having to sacrifice one of my siblings in order to save the other one, that would be a rather cruel twist of fate :(

I just don't know which one I would choose :(

It's horrible :(

  • 1 year later...

sounds wrong but.. I would let them both die..

I could not live with myself knowing I pick one over the other one, So I would let them both die.. this way they know I loved them both soo much. May sound very cold but Picking my Sister(Aimee) or My step brother(Scotty) is just to damn hard for me.

Neither. I am, technically, the eldest sibling of several brothers and sisters, though I only live with two of my younger siblings... conveniently a brother and a sister. By this point in my life, I've learned to be protective, and concerned heavily for their well-being. I would never, EVER choose between them, and until this becomes a reality, that's the fact I'm sticking with.

But, I will be fair and give you an answer.

I'd kill myself instead.

I'd choose to save my little brother. See, I grew up with him. My godsister knows how to save herself, also she'd probably try to save animals or something like that.

Well it depends.  Both my brothers have families of their own to take care of.  Does this hypothetical sister also have a family of her own?  If not, letting either of my brothers die has the extra burden of leaving my niece or nephew fatherless and one of my sisters in law as single mothers.

Everything else being equal, though, I'd just leave it to chance.  Flip a coin.  To actually, consciously make a choice... it would be too much for me to bear.

I would never ever leave the life or death of another human to a simple coin toss.

Also, I could never live with choosing which person is going to die, whether they're family or not.

I would ask them who they would rather die, or if it is an option, I would trade my life to free both.

If you asked them, both would just say to save the other one.  And what if sacrificing yourself wasn't an option?

Thats actually easy...

Brother. He's a mechanic for one, and capable for another.

My sister is just some fat slob thats a germiphobe and leaching off the government so she doesn't have to work..

She can cook.. but comp apocalypse time, I doubt that'd be very useful from someone who'd freak out at unwashed and unprocessed food stuff.

I don't have any siblings! I guess that means I get to save my pet dog? :P

Anyway, if I did have both a brother and a sister, I would probably choose the person who had the best chance of surviving the apocalypse. However, if that was the sibling who was really rude to me all the time, it would be a bit harder to make the decision...

I only have one brother. Asking someone to choose between a hypothetical person and a real person is pointless. Obviously you're going to go with the real person. I don't really like my brother very much, but I'd still pick him over someone who I can't even fathom existing. I think you'd really have to hate someone to the core to say you'd pick a hypothetical person over them.
