Bronies and Homosexuality

Thewookie Wooker

As others have said, it's because there aren't too many males to ship females with, and it would seem that females tend to want to hang around other females more than males.

I don't have a problem with homosexual ships. They're adorable for the most part, mare-on-mare or stallion-on-stallion. Things like Rule 34 and shipping have existed a loooong time before the Internet came along, though the Internet definitely made them widespread. So, "welcome to the Internet" isn't even the right phrase. "Welcome to humans being strange" is the right phrase :P And I'm a weirdo who likes AppleDash and PinkieShy

As for child-on-adult, that's just... People are messed up XD

r34, known as Rule 34... ha ha .. I site ripped that not to long ago.lol

Also Rule 34 is strictly a subset of Yiff work, usually ment for the furrie Sub-Culture

No it isn't. Rule 34 applies to literally everything. Name something, and Rule 34 applies. So it isn't "strictly" anything.

But part of that reason is, as others have said, is that there aren't many Male characters, and that the ones who are present may be M/M shipped by that person. Also because PinkieShy is best ship. Anyone and anything will be shipped, there just happens to be more female characters.

No explanation other then the lack of real heterosexual relationships available. But TBH, I dislike 99% of all shipping any fan of any fandom has done and I will never understand the joy people see, to gain from shipping

I don't get it either but as long as they avoid going into flame wars and don't shove it down my throat I am okay with it. We all have at least one hobby that some other would find a bit strange all of us on this forum share one such hobby about cartoon ponies.

Yeah, it's because of the lack of stallions.  Also it's pretty well accepted that all the ponies in Equestria are bi-sexual as Lyra and Bon Bon, and Appledash are some of the major shippings, but then you have the Fluttermac and Derpy Whooves shipping.  I think it's fairly more common because of the lack of stallions.

I actually will only read a shipping fan fiction if it is between two Original Characters.

I will also not read any same gender romance pairings... not saying that I am hating on it, I just don't...

I prefer reading stories with OC's more in general, due to many reasons.

As a brony, I have no issue with anything anyone has a "thing" for because it goes against my beliefs to attack someone over something so harmless, no matter how odd.

Another matter all together I ask is why do Adult-Child sex stories exist? And people read them. Pedophilia is very much frowned upon by all walks of life, hell they are hated by prisoners, yet we still have them pop up from time to time. Why is that?

Pedophilia seems to be naturally occurring and it's only frowned upon in countries where the government and media bash them all day long, It's the cultural norm where I live but I've never engaged in it.

Gay shipping and gay porn version of any show exist because there are people with fetishes who enjoy them.

Well I agree with the mane6 being the only characters with developed personalities and you wouldn't really be able to tell what the male characters in the show are like. Which it would only lead down to SpikexRarity and MacintoshxCheerliee shippings, but possibly more.

Though I really feel that bronies are writing mare to mare shippings, because of the possible concept of Lyra and Bon Bon in a romantic relationship. Plus that small thing between Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash where everypony is being all, "They kissed!" "No it was a nuzzle!"

But let's not forget that little scene with the whole "I'm game" thing.

And maybe because homosexuality is such an issue to a lot of people, some just want to write a beautiful romance story, just as good as Romeo and Juliet.

As for the adult-to-child shippings I have no idea. For all we know, some people are pedophiles or they believe in a adult-to-child relationship that most of us(including me) don't understand.

It's true with any fandom and shipping. Hetero is icky and wrong and not what Fanfic God wants for his children. I mean what kind of sick idea is a male AND female being in love? Yuck! I'm joking of course but while most shippers have no issue with hetero couples, there is a subgroup which is outright opposed to any "breeding couple."

Why is there clop: tere is clop as well as categories of mostly homer sexuality and a bit of peadophilia for 2 reasons.

One is that ther a very few stallions so a hetro sexual relation ship is very hard to do. The clop and wired clip is simply this: when you get (i think) 4 million fans going under one banner. Ther ware going to e at lest one or two people who are different... Nuff said

As everyone has noted previously, there's just not enough stallions. It's like this in every fandom with a disproportionate gender ratio(see Hetalia: the exact inverse).

People like shipping because they... well, they like it. I'm a shipper myself, and it's similar to just seeing a cute picture or something, and thinking it's adorable and precious, just with another romantically involved character.

And for the fans who prefer hetero, there's rule 63, otherwise known as genderbending. It's a very useful rule. Although, most of the genderbent ponies have different personalities or traits, so that isn't appealing to everyone, which leads them back to same sex.

And as for them just being friends... That's just... not as fun.  ;)

Every fan base goes through this. People always pair Kim Possible and Shego (Not that I mind in the least!) and do you know just how many times Captain Kirk as been paired off with Mister Spock? I don't think it's any real problem. Nobody is forcing anyone to read them!

There will always be some sort of shipping going on in any fandom, whether it be Homosexual or Trasnohomopanisexual. The anime fandom is a great example of that (Yaoi/Yuri). My speculation comes from many different perspectives. First, chances are MLP:FiM attracted many Homosexuals because of the feminine concepts expressed through the show (I mean c'mon, it's colorful ponies in a magical land). Although, some people who are Heterosexual or other may also enjoy Male/Male pairings as well as Female/Female because of the affectionate concepts and how the story is written.

Plus, seeing that a lot of males welcome the idea of Female/Female relationships because to them it's attractive (even in non-sexual ways), It's not a big surprise that many brony authors would write stories like that. But if we really look at things objectively, these fics are not really a issue. No one is forcing anyone to read them and are completely harmless to the individual.

The best way to understand and know the facts as to why people write these stories is very easy; ask the authors yourself.

Wow, I made a successful thread!

To few stallions is honestly the most concrete reasoning I can see. Teenage pigness probably goes more into Clop stories.

Like the first comment stated I would agree the multitude of homosexual relationships probably doesn't help depict bronies as not homosexual themselves.

The pedo fic I remember off the top of my head is ones with Cheerlie & her students. To say their age is a mute point if their mature enough, I honestly doubt they would be going to a playground having school if they were adults. Plus they are considered fillys versus mares and stallions.

I will pose two hypothetical questions now:

If MLP:FIM were to gain multiple new stallions to work with, do you think it would even out the prevalence of Homo v.s. Hetero shippings in the fanbase?

Why are there incest shipping stories as well?

Um... Homosexual pairings are common in ALL fandoms. Besides, as has been said MLP happens to have a cast of mostly female characters, and when that happens, pairings between the same-sex are naturally more common.

I don't see why it's such a big deal to you. But then again, knowing you, I do.

I'd say as long as we stay away from the graphic art, if you know what I mean, it's all good. It's especially a thousand times better than the violence stuff, which I think is far too prominent in this fandom. At least homosexual pairings are love. Sure they're out of character as far as we know, but no where near the amount of out of character that the violent stuff is.

So we meet again I see.... It only bothers me in the sense of reading a story which is good suddenly deciding to ship characters with the thought that it is just a given.

Is it the one where Ms Cheerilee has a hooves on sex ed lesson with the cutie mark crusaders? I read that one thinking it was just going to be comedy and for the first half of it it was as there have been several fics with a similar premise which though are somewhat suggestive aren't full blown clop. There is one I read the other day where they ask all the Mane 6 "where do babies come from"? And they all try to come up with all these excuses for why they don't want to tell them except for Rainbow Dash who tried to tell them by showing hard core porn and Twilight Sparkle who decided to teach them sex ed but was kind of sabotaged by Spike.

I am not entirely a saint though as one of the first fics I read was a clop fic called Flutterbox where Fluttershy's marehood started talking though most of it was more of an extremely over the top gross out comedy rather than porno its ending was definitely clop.

Absolutely, more stallions will help even things out a bit and you don't even need to add all that many. Big Macintosh for example is pairing with pretty much every mare you can think of, if fanfic shipping were cannon Big Mac's silence could partly be attributed to extreme sexual exhaustion. As for incest shippings I think the whole forbidden fruit angle you know that they are related and not supposed to be doing that appeals to some people though it dosen't really appeal to me.

Yea, definitely a welcome to the Internet moment.

Overall, what difference does it make if they're gay or straight? A good romance story hardly focuses on those kind of things, but it can use them as plot points. I've read plenty of gay and lesbian fics that have been heart warming and amazing. Most notably, "Green" on FIMFiction.

As for adult and child stuff, there are a lot of people in this world and every one of us is different. Some people are just attracted to stuff like that. Some people just like the idea that the relationship is taboo and therefore exciting. There are many weird attractions and fetishes like that, that you can find anywhere.

Grand scheme, none of those things define what bronies are. They define what people happen to be. Gay or straight, taboo or normal, brony or not. Bronies should be defined by the love and tolerance that we preach. But that's hard when things you've been taught in your normal life tell you that something is wrong and it shouldn't be happening. Think of it this way, as long as no one is being hurt, just be happy for them.

Because people have way too much time on their hands and spend way too much of that time on the internet subsequently causing them to gradually lose their focus of reality and any standards they might have previously held on to

I am not sure if I adamantly agree or are interested in what you just said, but I thought it was funny.

Well, yeah you are correct.

I think the 'shipping' is probably a big factor as to why Anti-Bronies call us gay.

I'm just saying. I have nothing against the shipping. But I'm not gay.

I think it has a lot more to do with how society has judged that it is a show for "little girls" and how men being into anything regarded as even slightly feminine are automatically gay. Yu Yu Hakusho had way way more gay shipping than most animes, I think it had even more gay shipping than MLP does yet I have never heard people accuse Yu Yu Hakusho fans of being gay.

Well, i think, The obvious appeal to the idea are cloppers, and i'm not singling them out from bronys, 'Cause that's wrong; A load of my friends fall under that category. My self, being Bi-sexual, Don't really read any of these sort of things, But it dosen't mean i don't support them. The idea of Dash and Spitfire i like, But only because of the awesomeness that would occur if that was so.

Precisely, we are far from the only fandom that has this strong of a tendency to ship same gender pairings. Another prime example is Death Note because the gender ratio is just as skewed as MLP, or perhaps even more if anything. People like to write shipping stories and when the 30 most developed characters in something are the same gender it's probably inevitable that slash pairings will dominate.

I tend to just ignore the shippings altogether.

In fact, when a lot of non-Bronies come up to me and say, "Why are you so obsessed with MLP? Do you know what half the community does?", I just say "I don't klopp", and they take a huge sigh of relief and call me a "true fan". While I don't think this necessarily makes me a "true" fan, I can see why many people would assume that homosexuality can be associated with the fanbase and why it turns so many people off.

I honestly die a little bit inside every time I see something like that posted on Fimfiction latest fan fictions updates. It sickens me to no end, and I feel like I want to kill the person who made it.

Anything else Clopping related I don't mind, just not that sickening stuff.

A dear friend of mine was raped when he was a child, so I get especially angry when I see something like that.
