Help.

There's not much you can do. Just push it to the back of your head. It will drift away after a while. Some things leave a lasting scar, but try this: Every time you think of it, change it into something downright ridiculous, or silly. Or you could just completely change the thought all together. Think of something else that's a little more positive and less freaky.

I remember when I read a certain fanfic. I haven't looked at cupcakes the same way ever again, and I couldn't stop thinking about the fic for a week, but I got over it eventually.

You can talk to me about it, if you want.

And there's really no way to forget something like that. At least not for awhile. What scared you about it? The fan-fic itself? Or something happened to one of your favorite characters.

I want to talk about it in a way,  but that will only make me feel worse when thinking about it. I am not scared for myself, but the awful feeling I got when reading that fic. It was so wrong. And stupid! Yeah, doesn't make much sense at all. Thats totally impossible and senseless. Hahah... ha? Three against one. The CMC are totally awesome and would have kicked him in the face a thousand times. Yeah.

When I'm scared, I talk about it. Then I hear it, and other people hear it, and I see how stupid it sounds and I don't have to be afraid of it. :P

Time. It will eventually heal it self. For now, go watch some comedies of something or brain wash yourself with some TV. Don't try to remember it, and try staying focused on something unless, like TV!

Don't let fanmade material faze you, it isn't cannon, so it shouldn't be taken seriously, this is the Internet. Always just keep in mind that it isn't real.

I would suggest steeling yourself for the future by cruising through Derpibooru, alot more screwed up stuff there. Eventually you'll become immune to any and all WTF content.

Fill a paper bag with paint thinner... Wait what am I typing!?

Watch something cheerful and happy to giggle the ghosties away.

One of the less creepy Pony episodes (No Lesson Zero) should work.

From what you said about the CMC and how they would kick 'him' in the face, I guess you read Sweet Apple Massacre? Yeah, that's nothing compared to Cheerilee's Garden and the Silent Ponyville trilogy. I wouldn't worry too much, just push it to the back of your mind and you'll forget about it soon enough.

Drink a shot of tequila and let it go

Just kidding in all honesty it helps to talk to someone about it. Find a friend, a family member, someone you trust with this fear.

If don't want to talk about it then try to get it out of your head.

What I do when I want to stop thinking about something I just do watch random videos that aren't remotely relate to what I'm afraid of.

See your favorite movie, show, cartoon (hint hint)

Distract yourself, but honestly talking to someone might be better then you expect.

I just read a scary MLP story and I need to know how to recover. Stupid decision to click link... oh well.. any tips on how to forgetit?

I don't know. I have been through the same. My friend sent me a clip clip reddit link. My curiosity got the best of me. There is a certain pic that has been scarred into my brain. I can't get it out, and I want it out. There is also another image that.... I will stop now

Well, the same thing happened to me. I decided to read "Cupcakes", needless to say I regret it. I regret even more my genius decision to read other grimdarks, especially "The Experiments of Twilight Sparkle" (Please don't read it. Just take my word for it.). The best thing to do is to watch some of the positive, happy videos created by the fandom (and if you are into reddit, /r/mylittledaww works nicely for getting disturbing images out of your mind). Good luck, and don't read anymore grimdarks.

I usually find Riclo here on MLPForums(he posted in this topic earlier) and stare at his profile picture for entire minute, or until I burst out laughing. Anyway, I myself recently read Cupcakes, and it took a week to get over it. Just push it to the back of your mind, and when it resurfaces, think about something else. I personally found humming Winter Wrap Up and thinking of my favorite moments of the show the most effective method. I don't read fanfics while trying to get over it, as that reminds me that I'm only reading to get a fanfic out of my head. It's been two weeks since I read Cupcakes, and I now talk about it freely. One general rule: NO MORE GRIMDARKS. PM me if you need some help. ;)

EDIT: This might also help cheer you up: Racist barn.

Well, I guess the best advice I could give would be to just think about other things? Or go do something  you enjoy, whatever will let you forget about it.

Rant about it in a blog if it makes you feel better. Or lie down and listen to Pinkie's "Smile" song for a while.

Remember, only the people who make the show can decide what it's about. Don't let any part of the fandom define it for you.

Just remember:

It's all bullshit.

Let your fears disintegrate!

Seriously, it's not canon so don't let it mess with ya, you'll be fine if you conquer your fears, it'll make you tougher and more strong willed. Some are more strong willed than others, but some just need that extra 'training'

G'luck on not pissin' your pants!
