I had a hard time deciding how to tell my family

So I started slow an told my sibilings.

I didn't tell them out loud. I put in mlpfim references whenever I could such as in my phones wallpaper. Sent pony pic emails to them. Basically I weirded them out long enough for them to ask me why. I told them and (surprisingly) they accepted it without question (though one of my younger brother is weirded out by this).

 

Haven't told my parents yet but I'm working on it.

I already know there's a decent amount of bronies at my school- know it from T-shirts and seeing people talk about it/watch it at school. Someone asked online a few days ago if I was a brony and I said yes, so everyone at the school practically knows. Plus with things like iMessage, gossip spreads faster than wildfire.

I don't really think it's necessary. You watch a show, blah blah blah, let's have a huge, meaningful talk and drag it out. You don't really have a big moral obligation to tell everyone you meet, or anyone, really.

I agree completely. All of these people who seriously think watching a cartoon is some big thing are nuts. Just watch it if you like it keep it to yourself.

You'd be surprised to find out how much ridicule some bronies take. Some are lucky and the people they tell don't care the least bit, but some aren't so lucky. That's the reason why many people are closet bronies (like me).

I feel terrible for those bronies who get persecuted. I've converted my sisters, my parents are a little weirded out but are overall OK with it, and everyone else who I've asked thought that the idea was strange, but shrugged and moved on with their lives. I guess part of it is that for females, watching stuff for younger audiences is seen as kinda cute and eccentric, but for boys it means that you are a sissy.

1) Wear no shoeshine

2) Have a monkey finger

3) Have toe-jam football

4) Shoot Coca-Cola

 

1) Get really, really ripped as hell

2) Become Prince Charming handsome

3) Get a ton of girls to have a crush on you

4) Be really really smart

5) Come to school wearing a coat over an MLP shirt of your choice

6) While everyone is admiring you and the girls are massaging your muscles, spontaneously scream, "YYYYEEEAAHHHHH" While tearing your coat in half, revealing your MLP shirt. No one will say a thing because they like you or they're afraid of you.

When I first became a brony, I told a friend on skype how I keep watching this pony show and it's suprisingly addicting. He was all like "lol" and laughy about that but didn't ask any questions, and probably forgot about it by now. 3 other friends of mine know that I watch MLP, but they don't know that I'm a brony simply because they're not familiar with the term. 

 

My brother knows I'm a brony, and he's neutral about it. I forgot how I told him, but he used to be a slight hater. I told him the positive aspects of the show, and he was fine with them. Took him a little while to get used to the idea that his brother(me) watches a pony show though. 

 

Now my next mission is to tell my dad, because I'm dying for MLP merch(my 2 only blindbags got stolen this summer, as the entire bag that it was in got stolen). He knows that I watch Adventure Time, which at first glance looks like a kiddie's cartoon. But like MLP, they both have a large adult audience. I could tell my dad that millions of grown men watch this show and collect the toys as well. Another possibility for me to get some merch would be a shirt from WeLoveFine on my birthday. Since my mom orders things online frequently, she would be the one to buy it for me (if my school grades satisfies her). I can just tell her that it's from a cartoon I watch, and chances are that she wouldn't ask any questions, and would be easier than telling my dad. If all goes well, I would be wearing "20% Cooler" on my chest   However, grades come first, as I'll have to somewhat deserve the shirt.

When my best friend and I found out we were both pegasisters it went a little like this: (friend) Soups on everypony! (Me) I don't know what's worse, the fact that you said that or the fact that I know what it's from. She then started telling me to embrace my bronyness, and then she tells me that when I leave my computer to get something to eat, she looks through my photoshop history and found me drawing ponies.

 

It's not that funny, but a few weeks later in my science class she calls the only guy sitting at our table a brony, he then asks us what's a brony. After we didn't tell him he asked the teacher what a brony is and she said I don't know but I know what bromine is. Very simple way to filter the bronies from the non-bronies. USE REFERENCES. Of course, you are already using references,but use REALLY obvious references, like 20% cooler or 10 seconds flat. It's kind of funny, actually. We have a private language that ONLY bronies can understand. It gives us an advantage when finding bronies. I managed to find 31 bronies at my school JUST using references. I plan to find more. Don't be afraid to use references EXCESSIVELY. In fact, use them excessively.
