Thunderstorm 120 December 24, 2012 Share December 24, 2012 I'm not thrilled with the stuff they make out there with gore and such, but I just avoid those things. At least they don't shove their fanfics/creations in our faces.
ReGen 1,466 December 24, 2012 Share December 24, 2012 Well... I can't say I agree with you mostly, but really, you shouldn't mind what they do. Don't kill me! Face it, most kids old enough to go on YouTube are usually the ones who play Halo or Call of Duty. As for the girls.... I mean, by then, they're probably outside, hanging out with their friends. The younger ones prolly won't even know what's going on. That doesn't neccessarily mean I approve of the R34 or gory fanfics.... You really can't prevent them from making them. Best to ignore, I guess. "I keep the walking on the right side, but I won't judge the next who handles walking on the wrong. 'Cause that's how he wants to be. No difference, see." MorningFlash 214 December 24, 2012 Share December 24, 2012 I agree with you completely, but the term "brony" is universal- it can be for both guys and girls. Anywho, I did watch cupcakes a few days ago wanting to see what all of the hype was about and I was horrified. I didn't watch the show for about a day afterwards, I just think gore fiction is completely and utterly disgusting. Credit to Lunia
Morager 149 December 24, 2012 Share December 24, 2012 I love the show and believe it shows good values. Plus great things have came from the fandom such as art work, music, people wanting to help others. But with the good comes the bad. I dont 100% disapprove the darker side, but im not 100% for it ether. I avoid the r34 part. But i have listen to some of the gore fan fics. If its something you dont like just avoid it, we have to learn to tolerate it. It doesnt mean you have to like it. If we dont we just sound like a bunch of Hippocrates. Like i said i dont support most of what they do, i believe what they do is very creative and unique, and wish they would do it in a different more pleasant way. But its who they are and i dont hate for that. Plus the gender part doesnt matter ive seen plenty of girls that were more into the gore then boys are. Its just something to get use to, no reason to divid or place blam and srry to say its not going away any time soon.
Yes-Man 597 December 24, 2012 Share December 24, 2012 (edited) I agree..somewhat. I don't at all appreciate or like thing's like Cupcake's or Rainbow Factory or....*shudders*...Sprinkles. HOWEVAH,I DO like thing's like Fallout:Equestria,as those are very entertaining to a long-time fan of the Fallout series. On topic,I think that if people want to write/draw/make thing's like this, then they have a right to! EDIT:I also classify bronies and pegasisters as the same thing. Nixter 180 December 24, 2012 Share December 24, 2012 (edited) Well 'cuse me if I like to clop... I'll be honest, I don't care for the violent aspect of fanfics or whatever, but I can say with a passion clopping is a big part of my activity of being a brony, before you assault me with a broom, hear me out for a sec: Everypony has the opportunity to express themselves, but everypony has the opportunity to be shielded from such content, so when you see a video for, Cupcakes, for example, you're more than likely going to have many, many warning shots, regarding R34 material, it's ALWAYS hidden and have many warning shots, you can't really stumble or R34 unless you wanted to stumble on it in the first place. So allow to have everypony have their fun, be it R34 or violent outbursts. Just brush it off, just remember that being a brony in the first place makes you automatically more tolerant towards people against the norm. (I'm not talking about the slogan, I mean that you actually like a show for girls and therefore are most likely not going to be a hypocrite and say being not normal is bad, aight?) Pinkazoid 3,493 December 24, 2012 Share December 24, 2012 I'm a girl too, been watching this show since forever, and I don't get bothered by the gore as much as I used to, I could squint a little when I came across it, I grew over it after a while, because it's not just a brony thing, it's in every fandom. The Rule 34, I see no problems with it, it annoys me when someone says they're ruining a kids show even though it's not affecting them in any direct way Also, excluding yourself from the brony comunity is fine, but don't exclude yourself because you're a "pegasister" :v 2 :
Evilshy 5,090 December 24, 2012 Share December 24, 2012 I like ponies. I like porn. I like guns. I like violence. Stands to reason I'd like ponies combined with porn, guns and violence (though not at the same time. Guro is a major turnoff). Seems like common sense to me. As for it disrespecting the show, would people put all that time into making fanfics and really well drawn R34 for a show they don't like? I sure wouldn't. Maybe it's not in line with the show itself, but it isn't the show, it's a fan work based on characters from the show. People have a talent, and they use it to make things they like, and sometimes it isn't all happy and colorful like the show is. That doesn't make it bad. Also, I don't like gorefics because gore is lame. Psychological horror >>>>>>>> gore and shock horror. 4 Signature now 99% less edgy!
Obsidian_Winter 1,159 December 24, 2012 Share December 24, 2012 I'm a Pegasister but that is just a sub-sect of being a Brony. Its not an "Us against them" or that Bronies are making all the gore, R34 stuff. In fact, one of the Goriest things I ever read was written by a pegasister. As for the other stuff, I agree that some of the more violent stuff messes with my head. I frankly have an issue with one of the mane six getting gang banged, but to each their own. People love the show but really what they love is the WORLD that the show is about. So they just take the world and the characters and put them in these "what if" scenarios. I respect them for it. My daughter who is 5 loves MLP. We watch it together and thats all fine and good, but I won't introduce her to the fandom because I know whats out there. I, on the other hand, am a big girl and find some of the creative stuff out there really good. V1RUS_ 85 December 24, 2012 Share December 24, 2012 I understand your point of views on clop and gore. Not a lot of people are fond of them. But what you seem to forget is that they are still Bronies. They still love the show, probably just as much as you do. This is just their way of showing it. "Love and Tolerate." Yeah and neither would I, MLP has helped bring out my creative side which has lain dormant for too long and while most of the fanfic ideas I have come up with are safe for sensitive readers and children I do have one fanfic idea though its main intention is comedy is a bit more rule 34 oriented. If I write that particular fic does it make me any less of a fan? I don't think so, my time is very precious to me and I will not waste it writing a fanfic about something I don't even like. 3 Rarity Get's Cockroaches

Arlette Mori 22 December 24, 2012 Share December 24, 2012 As much as I don't agree with the violence & gore fanfic it's unfortunately going to be here to stay. I personally can't tolerate gore or violence anymore because I nearly died in 2011. I suffer from PTSD. I use to be a HUGE fan of zombie movies. I can't watch them anymore though. While I was pregnant I had pregnancy induced nightmares. MLP was the only way it helped me reduce nightmares at night. In the end - It is their way of expressing their appreciation of the show. As a parent I have my responsibility when my son is old enough to access the darker sides of any fandom to keep it away from him the best I can. I've never considered Pegasisters and Bronies as an "us against them" type of thing. I am a woman but I see every MLP fan as under the same umbrella.
Dusty Soul 2,611 December 24, 2012 Share December 24, 2012 Fans will be fans, look at it this way, we all enjoy a show and people will enjoy it the way they want. I mean I don't understand why people like the gore and such, but I don't know why your saying they are wrong for enjoying the show their way. I mean we should tolerate everyone, no matter the interests. Soundcloud-------------------Facebook---------------------------Youtube
SongBrony 419 December 24, 2012 Share December 24, 2012 I kind of agree with you. Personally, I'm a fan of war/action fics. It's an interesting take on how each would react outside of the harmonious world of Equestria. I am disturbed at some things like Cupcakes, but they can be entertaining to read if done correctly. While it is still a kids show, not all bronies are kids. The show has incorporated many things that kids should not know, like the "Everything you need to know about sex, but were too afraid to ask." innuendo. It was the episode where Rarity, Twilight, and Applejack had a sleepover. The innuendo was for the adults. All shows have dark parts. I mean, look at sesame street. Most of us have seen it at one time or another, but it also has a dark section. What really bugs me though isn't the dark parts, but how far R34 can go. First off, if you are a clopper, that's all you and I'm not going to stop you, but it's when it gets so mainstream on the web and how far they take it sometimes. I have plenty of friends who are cloppers, so I'm not hating on them. It's just different tastes in the show. I've written Shipping fics and war fics, I even wrote my own version of Cupcakes with RD and PP switching roles. So while there are some issues that I agree with, I don't agree on the large scale. (In all honesty, I feel like you're blowing it out of proportion. It's one thing to say you don't like fan fics with gore, but just don't look at them or watch them. It's different with R34 though since you can search a random pony and almost always find one on the first page. Just my 2 cents on this)
Fender 1,283 December 24, 2012 Share December 24, 2012 Look, let me put it this way:I am not a clopper, nor am I a gorefic fan. I wouldn't call it disrespecting the show to make such art though. This is the power of perception. I, personally, just view them as different forms of art. And that's really all they are. If some people appreciate pornographic artworks of MLP, let them, and leave it at that. Some people, like my best freind, are just fascinated by gorefics of things, he liked Cupcakes HD and he isn't even a brony. Well, I guess all I can really say at this point is just try and tolerate. ~Master~ Button Mash 2,307 December 24, 2012 Share December 24, 2012 (edited) It's just a numbers game, really. Within each fandom you'll have the fetishists, the guroists, the masochists, and generally the people who take a rather grimdark affinity when it comes to fan works. And the bigger the fandom (our fandom numbers in the millions), the more of these kinds of works will pop up. In addition the brony community has an exceptionally good network that allows fan works to quickly distribute to the community (Youtube, EqD, Fimfiction, Deviantart groups, Derpibooru, etc, etc.), so these pieces tend to get more "in your face" in our community, I guess. It just comes with the territory of being in a fandom. Any fandom. I generally try to just ignore it and move on, because it's really all you can do. Pinkie D Pie 1,036 December 24, 2012 Share December 24, 2012 Well I have to disagree with you on pretty much all of this. It may be a kid's show but you have to look at the huge following of people there are in the fandom. There are a ton of different people in this fandom all with there own likes and dislikes. Also if a kid is going on the internet and finding this stuff, I would like to know how. On Fimfiction there is an option to uncheck clop and gore, and youtube censors most of that other stuff. Also unless the kid actually searches up in Youtube, "MLP Cupcake fan made video" They might not get anything bad. I am sorry that you can't respect other people for what they like, or you might and just aren't making it seem like it, but I will respect your opinion but completely disagree with all of it. 1 My OC's Shadow Stalker/Aarod Brachuin/Dark Chocolate/Cocoa
Dashabel 381 December 24, 2012 Author Share December 24, 2012 Im sorry you are so offended but "Please note I am a girl, so I may have a reason for disliking such content" is pretty sexist. Im a man and I have a reason as well because it has nothing to do with sex. In fact alot of the creators of the darker fan fictions are female so please dont pin all the problems on men thanks. You cant ban the people that like the clopfics and r34 stuff from the internet so If you dont like it dont read/look at it because unfortunately no pony can make them go away ( btw I dont like the clop r34 dark stuff ) I think it's no harm if I'm sexist to myself. I said this because of the people who might say ''well you're a girl so you wouldn't like that sort of stuff'' etc. And because of the generalisation that boys like it more than girls. But I am merely stating my own opinion, which is allowed? Harmonic Revelations 8,835 December 24, 2012 Share December 24, 2012 I don't agree that some fans are right and some fans are wrong, I however do not find any appeal in such content, but to put it in laymen's terms: It's none of your damned business what other people enjoy.
DoctorWhovian1902 596 December 24, 2012 Share December 24, 2012 I can agree. I've heard of, seen, and read some seriously messed up stuff (Don't even get me started on "The Experiments of Twilight Sparkle", that story made "Cupcakes" seem tame, as if that isn't bad enough on it's own.). The gore can be incredibly disturbing, the Rule 34 stuff...I haven't seen any of it, but from what I've heard about it...(shivers). Lastly, I know not everyone agrees with me, but I'm really not a fan of all the homosexual shipping, or really shipping in general. Just my opinion. Vinyl Scratch (Filly)™ 936 December 24, 2012 Share December 24, 2012 I love Grimdark I won't lie. But I do have respect for the show. Just because I like to read a lot of grimdark does not mean I do not have respect for the show. I am a sick bastard and I always have been, even before I became a brony I read a lot of grimdark. I absolutely love the the show, but that doesn't mean I can not enjoy myself a bit of grimdark fan fictions and art works. Free world, I can choose to watch and enjoy what I want, you can't say I don't have respect for the show. Zoop 8,384 December 24, 2012 Share December 24, 2012 Personally I have no interest what so ever in gore or grimdark stuff - I don't read super dark and/or violent fanfiction, and have no interest at all in art of the same variety... that said, I see no reason why that stuff would be considered 'disrespectful' to the show. Why would it be? Nobody is passing it off as anything other than fan labor, and in most cases it isn't exactly being shoved down anyone's throat (I never come across the stuff, for example, and I'm extremely active in a number of different MLP related websites). If anything, the existence of such material should be taken as yet another sign of FiM's remarkable success given just how far and wide its appeal stretches, and to who all it is appealing to. While I don't mean to accuse you of this personally, these arguments often give me a "I don't like this, thus it is bad" kind of vibe. Honestly people can like what they want... It's more of the Cloppers though. Most of the Cloppers are real dicks no joke! Not all of them but most; they're the real problem. Funny you should mention this. I happen to know a great many 'cloppers', of them nearly every last one of them goes to great lengths to conceal the fact that they're into R34 material out of fear of having stereotypes like this applied to them. Actually, I think the real problem has to do with people making blanket statements about an entire category of people based solely on the actions of a relative few. Vocal minorities, and such.
