Have you ever started something, set a trend, coined a new phrase in your school, work, or group of friends?

Long titles are awesome, by the way.

I remember back in 6th grade. I was in the advanced program or whatever it's called in middle school, and we had English and history combined into one big block, and the teacher was given a lot of freedom as to what and how he taught. He was also given a bunch of iMacs and some fancy projectors and video equipment. We made a lot of videos in that class, relating to different things we were studying.

Anyway, he also gave us a lot of freedom as long as we got our stuff done. I was always one of those who messed around on the computers, and one day, I decided to mess with th speech settings. I found a voice labeled "Organ" and found that I was this guy with a low voice, and he sang everything. So I set that as the voice, turned the volume down low, and continued with my work. I noticed that the speech thing read (or in this case, sang) the generic "do you want to save the changes" message when you close Word without saving. So, having a strange sense of humor, I made a document named "my spleen", turned the volume all the way up, and waited for the room to be silent.

About a minute later, the silence was broken by a man with a deep, slightly auto-tuned voice singing "Do you want to save the changes you made to my spleen?"

Silence. somebody says "what?"

And then laughter breaks out throughout the whole room. Not long after, the whole class was doing it. Soon, it spread to other classes, and the simple song "Do you want to save the changes you made to my spleen?" could be heard in computer labs.

But the moment I knew I had really started something was when I heard an 8th grade jock absentmindedly singing it under his breath while walking down the hall :) quite possibly the greatest moment in my middle school years :)

I created a new stand tune dance for my high school marching band.

I don't know if they actually still do it. I don't know anybody in it anymore.

Back in sixth grade I made up a word called "cool baby" that was (and is) meant to be used to express great joy like the word "Hell yeah" and since then, half of my classmates use that word.

I have began and exacerbated the use of the word "wonky" among my friends. At first they were reluctant to use it but they eventually grew to use it themselves, mostly by accident.

I've probably made tons, but really never noticed. They usually only lasted small term.

There's a bit of a joke between me and one of my friends that was made since for some odd reason she loves to say my last name, Yocca (Pronounced Yaw-kah), so we made it law that any time we greet each other we only use last names! We kind of sound like people at my brother's merchant marine academy! lolz

Also another friend and I are starting to use MLP references that nopony else understands! :P

"Not one fuck was given," and all other phrases like that seem to be ubiquitous around my small group of friends when they see my usual facial reactions when someone starts whining about their problems.

[Warning: A few penis jokes beyond this point]

The one I remember that actually caught on to people I don't even like is when one day last year in the morning a large group of people were getting really obnoxiously exited about the new CoD release "Black Ops". I went over to that group and acted exited about the game and referred to it as "Black Cocks." "Yeah did you guys hear Black Cocks is supposed to be the biggest one yet!" "Man I can't wait to start playing with Black Cocks." And I'd list TONS more of Black Cocks jokes but I'm afraid I'll start breaking some rule or something... Anyway, the game finally came out and most of that group didn't like the new CoD so they collectively coined it "Black Cocks"... wait they just had a riot when I used the term pre-release, so apparently it's PERFECTLY fine to use it post-release!

In the 6th grade, I would try to steal stuff from my friends without being caught. this eventualy led to everyone stealing from eachother in class everyday trying to see who could steal the moast thinngs befor school ended.

Another thing that was popular in my class (not started by me) was that every student, boy or girl had to have at least 1 littlest pest shop toy on their desk...... and everybody wanted me to draw their toys with other ppls toys......

No trends per say just some in-jokes, mostly about myself.

I won't go into much detail, some of them are... disturbing to say the least.

I'd like to thank the MLP Vector Club for the images used in my avatar.

Known as "Princess Mi Amore Cadenza", "Trixie the Great", "Tom" and "Tomzoid the EggDroid".

I uh... started the Lady [blank] Pony trend on these forums! Although it's not that large. Still, I have never started a forum trend where everyone changes their name, so I'm wowed.

Also, at one point, years and years ago... I started a made up country called Arylettopia where I was the Queen stemming from some injokes (one which started when I told a former friend that I had a dream about being the Queen of England). I got a bunch of people to rally behind me on these other forums, and they were called Arylettopians. There were a bunch of things in that little group that happened. Like the word "awesomenocity" which was associated with me and everyone would say it. (I made up that word.) I had these little followers who were... well, 12/13 year olds though (I was like 16 at the time) and the mods/other people disliked us to a passion so they made fun of us until the trend died.

There's another thing that's known amongst friends about me, which is my "floof." Since my hair is a very unique and iconic part of my appearance, being dark and curly and... really crazy/messy... we would often joke that it ate people. And was a man-eating monster that could devour anything. I'm often called floofy. Sometimes a Floofmodge.

I make up plenty of words too... although since none of my friends know each other because I don't tend to hang out in groups, all of these words (like floof) catch on with everyone I know even though they don't know each other. If that makes sense.

I just randomly blabber something random and it sticks on, and one time I made a drawing of a bear with an MLP t-shirt when I was bored kids started calling it Mr. Fluffes, I insist that his name is Harry and he started as a sketch of a big bear who scared a smaller bear XD

Me and my friends were almost able to start a cult surrounding the eating of oranges (true, funny, and silly story that one is). Sadly it never caught on... :(

  • 1 year later...

Actually I have. My friend and I have seen this extremely corny bee horror sci fi, and we both decided to put bee avatars as our facebook profile picture. In the matter of about 5 hours there were tons of people changing to bee profile pictures for kicks, it was rather amusing. happy.png
