Today's Matchup: Winter Wrap Up VS Dragonshy

I might be getting confused with the traditional tournament setup, but why is "Crystal Empire Part 2" listed twice in that bracket? Or are they separate competitions? (It's listed once on the bottom left, and again on the top right).

Dragonshy by far. Winter Wrap Up is an overrated episode (Song included). In fact it was probably among my least favorite episodes in the show as opposed to Dragonshy, which is one of few Season 1 episodes still in my top favorites. Get @ me bronies

Thank you for pointing that out! It was meant to be The Crystal Empire Part 1. I'll fix that as soon as I possibly can. Good catch!

Dragonshy was good but winterwrap up wins for me

Dragonshy. After that episode I realized that FiM was my favorite show. Rainbow kicked a dragon in the face and Fluttershy got some points as well.

Winter Wrap up is cute and fun, but Dragonshy is my second favorite Fluttershy episode (and Fluttershy is my favorite Mane 6).  It has a great moral which is told in an excellent way, and it includes the line, "Aw, you're not a bad dragon, you just made a bad decision."

I have to cast my vote for Dragonshy.  I found it to be a more entertaining episode overall. 

 

I give them credit for the Winter Wrap up musical number.  It was a surprisingly big production for a mid-season episode.  But it wasn't Disney style musicals that made me fall in love with MFP:FiM.

I never cared for Dragonshy, and find it quite overrated. Sure, I used to like it back when I was watching season 1 for the first time and Fluttershy used to be my favorite pony, but rewatching it, it just didn't hold up. I found Fluttershy a tad bit annoying and the episode overall just boring. The best part was the ending, but aside from that, "meh".

 

WInter Wrap Up however, was the episode that made me a Brony, just due to the song alone. It was right after that episode that I looked more into the fandom and realized that the show was better than I originally thought it was (I thought back then it mostly due to the music, but now I know that the show is awesome when it comes to aspects aside from the music).The episode itself is funny and relatable as well.

Winter Wrap Up, because Twilight is so d'aww and very relatable. I'm just like her; good at the ideas and organization, not so much at the doing. 

 

Dragonshy was eh. I prefer stuff that's character focused rather than plot focused, and Dragonshy was a plot focused episode and has clips that get way overused. Very forgettable, and another Season 1 episode that further convinced me before Fluttershy's fantastic episodes in Season 2 that she was a boring character. I remember more from the FIW version.

i guess that i am choosing sonic rainboom, because of sonic rainboom, and for the fact that sonic rainboom was one of the most epic episodes in season 1

Such a hard choice their both such great episodes, why are you doing this to me.   I guess I would have to chose "party of one" the humor in it was so good though "Sonic Rainboom" had It's moments but "Party Of One"  is set back when Pinkie Pie was funny and not just random. I love Sonic Rainboom but I am choosing "Party of One" because I LOVE that part when Pinkie loses it XD ... but I also really love sonic rainbooms Pinkie is my favorite character though so ... Party of One has my vote

Sonic Rainboom is one of the best episodes out of the whole series (for me personally). But Party of One is awesome as well. Both of those episodes were well made. However, I prefer Sonic Rainboom.

This battle was tough. I voted for Sonic Rainboom, though. Simply because that in my opinion, Rainbow Dash is the best pony. And, the episode was amazing. Dashie defending Fluttershy was amazing.

I'm giving my vote to Party of One because, well, cause Dashie sucks imho. Plain and simple.

 

That and I didn't care for Sonic Rainboom too much either.

I have to choose between party of one and sonic rainboom!??! What wizardry is this? That's like having to choose between chocolate and ice cream! Hmm.... Sonic Rainboom was good, and being an RD fan and all I loved it, but Party of One was great! I'm sorry Sonic Rainboom, I'm going to hve to choose Party of One.

I think Sonic Rainboom without a doubt. This scene is simply one of the best from the whole of G4:

That moment when Fluttershy actually cheers in such a manner really gnaws at my heart - especially considering the way she cheered beforehand simply because Rainbow Dash couldn't perform the Sonic Rainboom. Such a powerful moment, and I love it because of that.

These are my two favorite episodes of season one.  Seeing a crazy Pinkie Pie made my day, but on the other hand, so did seeing Dash perform a Sonic Rainboom.  This is so difficult, but I'm obligated to choose the Dash episode.  I just prefer her character over Pinkie Pie's.

While undoubtedly that Sonic Rainboom was kick-ass, I as a loyal Pinkie Pie fan must go with Party Of One - it's actually one of Pinkie's best episodes, where it's not just happiness and sugar cakes but actually an insight into a hidden Pinkie. The Sonic Rainboom episode itself didn't do that... it was just Rainbow Dash being Rainbow Dash.

Everypony loves Party of One...except me.

There are some things I like about it. But watching it recently for a 2nd time...(1) the plot made no sense. Why couldn't they just reschedule the damn surprise party?! Even a kid would think of that. (2)They made Applejack lie and look bad for it instead of just tweaking the story a little bit. (3) Pinkie's dark side was too dark. It struck a nice balance between goofy and scary, though. I honestly can't agree when people call this the definitive Pinkie Pie episode. I think A Friend in Deed wins that title by a country mile. I might even go with that over Sonic Rainboom if they went head to head.

 

But not this one. Sonic Rainboom...favorite pony...made me cry. Epic. Reduced to sentence fragments.

 

And I have to disagree completely about the episode having no insight into Rainbow Dash's character, Flipturn. She was so nervous about the competition and intimidated by Rarity's wings that it brought out something we'd never seen in her before: vulnerability. The fear of messing up and losing. We saw just how much her dream of being a Wonderbolt meant to her, and that she'll do anything for her friends. That episode was not just Dash being Dash. It told us exactly who Dash was, and I think it was far more inspiring and genuine than Pinkie's tea party.

I've always had this love-hate feeling towards Sonic Rainboom. I love the worldbuilding, the awesome designs of Cloudsdale and the climax. However, I hated how Rarity was acting and I never really cared for Rainbow Dash's feelings either. Now that I like Rainbow more than I did when I first watched season 1 (I despised her when I first watched the show) I like it more than I did on my first viewing, but I still hate the fact that Rarity's flaws in this episode overshadowed her excellent development in Suited for Success. Even worse, Rarity haters tend to point towards this episode like it justifies why Rarity is a horrible character.  <_<

 

However, Rarity's gloating did give me an awesome avatar. 

 

Party of One was hilarious and among my favorites for season 1. Pinkie was awesome in this episode and it showed that there is much more to her than meets the eye. So, yeah, definitely Party of One.
