Christian bronies: meet, greet, and mingle!

Intimidating is kind of why I shyed away from showing it. I personally like it but both my brothers thought that depiction of Jesus looked a little too much like Zeus in his smiting mood for comfort.

Yeah, I can see how it might come across that way for some. Not everyone would be used to such a depiction and in that scale too.

Oh here's the kicker. The domed structure of the mural makes it that no matter where you are standing, Jesus is looking at you. Creating the illusion of His eyes following you.

Again, I can see how this might be both soothing for some and uncomfortable for others, but another impressive aspect of the buildings' design nonetheless.

I'd be more than happy, indeed, ecstatic, to discuss the specifics of my faith and these places in a PM if you are at all interested.

I may take you up on that offer. I'm only too happy to learn more where I can and from a first-hand source. ^_^

Psalm 95:1-3 (NIV)

Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;

let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.

Let us come before him with thanksgiving

and extol him with music and song.

For the Lord is the great God,

the great King above all gods.

What's y'alls opinion on people who used to think they were homosexual, but then changed to heterosexual?

I'm curious since the Bible says in Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. (King James Version)

Even if no sexual act was committed, are you of the opinion said person could be forgiven in time? Or are they still condemned?

This isn't pretty but it's what I am tonight.

Rethinking this post to avoid causing an issue with certain people. Nobody here, but other people.

Well on the one hand, I don't want people to deny that part of themselves if it's true, especially if they fear for their souls. That only results in self-loathing, which God certainly doesn't want of us. On the other hand, non-hetero orientations are considered trendy and in the modern social climate, that's practically currency so some might claim to be gay or bi just to distance themselves from perceived evil and have a voice and representation. In that case they're perjuring themselves by claiming to be something they're not, and actually in some ways is actually more damaging and defaming to people who are actually gay. Then again, there are some people who, as trite as it sounds, simply are "confused" because they're exposed to it so much.

So I say the same thing that I do for all things, case by case basis. If they claim to be gay knowing they're not, shame on them. If they claim to be gay but realize it was simply a phase, well some people truly do have to figure that stuff out on there own.

I'm not a biblical scholar but consider the context of that passage. The verses before and after it also warn against adultery and various forms of incest. So I think the idea is warning people against the extremes of lust, which no matter our orientation we are all capable of. (Except possibly asexuals.)

I went to a Mormon service for the first time this morning, I was invited by a friend to attend and I just couldn't say no. I have they say that it was an utmost enjoyable experience, everyone was very nice and welcoming(as fits the image of Mormons) and for whatever reason almost all of them can sing well. For those that aren't familiar, Mormon church service lasts 3 hours, which seemed to go by quickly to be honest, and is split into three parts. First hour being somewhat typical of going to church, though today was a testimony day since it was the first Sunday of the month. On testimony days, the first hour is filled with people volunteering to share experiences and give testimony to Jesus Christ(and the book of Mormon) as well as some hymns and speeches from the local LDS leadership(I think). The second hour is Sunday School, where people split off into separate groups and read/interpret scripture. With the groups determined by knowledge of their scripture. Today was an interesting day since the topic was the Millennium, Jesus's reign, who gets cast off/who stays and most interestingly(to me) entrance into the Terrestrial and Celestial Kingdoms. These are if you don't know, separate levels of heaven you can get into after you die and according to Mormon belief your spirit is reunited with God(your spirit father) and spouse. There are other beliefs about the afterlife in LDS that are in my view quite strange, such as if you're righteous enough you and your spouse could become gods yourselves and populate planets of your own. I am no expert so if someone wants to correct me on anything please do so. And finally for the last hour everyone is split into two groups, male and female, and at least today, talked about thankfulness since it's the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I could never become a Mormon myself for a couple reasons but they really are a kind and often misunderstood bunch. I thoroughly enjoyed going and I see myself going back every once in awhile.

I hope you all had a wonderful Sunday and good start to the new week.

Hey guys, I really am in need of prayer. I'm not really up to date on my Bible verses, so I figured if someone could help me, that would be great. Please PM me as I'd rather not share the matter in public.

If you could also give me some inspirational Bible verses to help me on my way in the PM, that would be good too.

Earlier today I was going to ask my dad something. I walk into the room and next to his seat on the couch. He had his laptop open on his lap, and he had dozed off. I look closer, and then I realized that he was watching porn. I've been sitting in my room for the past hour debating on what I should do. I want to tell my mom, but her work is stressful and I don't want to stress her out any more than she already is. Please help me.

I think that you should not bring that to your mom, and neither say that you will to, it could create some fight between your parents. When correcting someone, it is better to do so first privately.

If possible, you should bring this up to your father, and explain politely that this makes you to feel betrayed. But maybe that might not be necessary, since your father might have realized that you noticed, and that could be the enough for him to realize that it was a mistake.

Maybe someone else here has something to add?

I've been trying to get into songwriting. I was thinking of doing a combination of styles, but I don't play any instruments.

I like Christian/worship music, but I also like a lot of 90's adult alternative, so I was thinking of combining the sounds of 90's adult alternative with mild Christian-themed music. An example of what I mean by 90's adult alternative is like, Matchbox Twenty, Counting Crows, some of Collective Soul's stuff, and so on. Just a few examples.

Actually you might like these guys. Christian but 90's as Hell. The name of the band and song are biblical references.

I believe my relationship with God can be summed up in these lyrics:

"I've been shot down, kicked around, but like a moth drawn to the flame,

here I am, talkin' 'bout Jesus just the same!"

Not all light is good and not all darkness is evil. Darkness can be used for good just as much as light can be used as a force of destruction.

To be honest. I've been feeling pretty sad lately over nothing.
I try to open my heart up to God and even pray to him for me to be happy. But I don't feel his response in me.

I can't even connect with him through the Bible very well.

Can someone explain why this is happening?

Perhaps this is God's way of showing you that He has faith in you that you will get through these hard times. He's cheering you on from the Heavens! :twi:

OH YEAH! I watched that One Hit Wonderland video that Todd in the Shadows did on them! He didn't care for it, if I remember right, but I like it.

Thanks for reminding me of that. ;)

Actually he did seem to like the song, that it was different enough from the "Jesus is so awesome" shlock to be considered good across all boards. I'm sort of with him on that. If I want to hear a song about God that's not Church music, I want it to have some substance beyond simple praise.
