MLP: Fighting is Magic - Running for the World Stage

Colt

Recommended Posts

Evolution Championship series just announced the line up for the 2013 world tournament and its Road To Evo events. Of the 8 games to be part of this 7 are announced and 1 is still on debate.

So what does this have to do with our beloved ponies and our kick ass community ... A lot really

MLP: Fighting is Magic is one of the games to take the 8th spot on the biggest and most important fighting game tournament in the world. And MLP: Fighting is Magic is the only fan made game in the whole possible line up. The guys at Mane6 have been doing such a fantastic job that their game is being considered for a full non pony related event, maybe the most important event for a game such as this.

The Evo organizers want 2 things to give that last spot to one game

  1. Community and social participation by casting votes for each still runner up game
  2. Helping a good cause as the votes are going together with a donation for Support Breast Cancer Research

Sounds familiar? Community, charity, supporting, I think you have listen to those before.

Here is the page to MLP:FIM  donation page

I would edit this with The official links and statements on shoryuken.com and evo. shoryuken.com are up, right now the hype of the FGC took them down.

Here you can read what Mane6 (dev team) has to say on the voting

If you want to know more about EVO watch this video

I'm very proud of this fandom Colt. :D

Not only for fighting is magic, but for all the content that we are creating in behalf of MLP (call it art, music, animations, more games, programs, etc.), I think no other fandom has been THIS passionate except for the Star Wars fandom I think, but I believe that we even surpased them!.

Now, this game being added into such a big fighting game event, it's a complete success, because we are blending 2 different comunities together, the fighting games community and the MLP community. Such a remarkable moment. :D

And we are not only gonna take over the fighting game community, if you know what I mean ;) give it time :D

My GOD I can not wait for this thing to be playable, I have never been more excited for a fighting game before. Never before has a community produced as much beautiful art and glorious creative power than ours. I will support this game any way I can forever

I have the feeling that this game will become SO hardcore, that people who doesn't invest much of their time practicing combos and such, will end up hating this game, due to the opportunities of advanced combos people can learn.

Many bronies will play this game because it's a pony game forgetting that it's based on very technical games like street fighting, king of fighters and marvel vs capcom.

From the gameplay I have watched so far, it looks incredible. Rainbow Dash's theme song is my current crack song that I just cannot stop listening to. You know what my pipe dream is though? That this thing gets ported to the Nintendo DS...

I tried to do this, but apparently the internet knows my address better than I do and it keeps yelling at me about it. Sorry Mane 6, you'll have to go without my vote until a certain organization accepts donations through PayPal or figures out my address right.

if Hasbro move their asses and license this game, they would be able to port it to consoles!

but that ain't gonna happen ever!

Technically it can be done even the button array would be good in the 3ds, but this game will never see the light of an official release unless Hasbro buys Mane6, the good thing is that all this attention and sudden interest in the game would make look like there are close communication between Hasbro and the developers, they will not shut down Fighting is Magic im sure of it.

Also for more on MLP: Fighting is Magic here is a very deep and nice article on gamespot

hey, but if you don't want 3D you just turn it off! :D

An OC maker would be quite something, in fact ridiculous taking into consideration that these guys are not videogames developers XD

I would absolutely LOVE for Hasbro to actively search for the best fanmade games and (pardon my language) sponsor the SHIT out of them. I firmly believe that they could make a ton of profit on something like that, and show the rest of the world an amazing new business strategy that ends up with GOOD LICENSED GAMES for the first time ever, lots of money in support of your favorite series, and hardworking fans getting recognition for their efforts.

Of course, such a thing would require Hasbro going beyond just tolerant and branching out into the revolutionary category, but one can dream...

I said it before, and I'll say it again. Not a day goes by in which I am not completely blown away by how amazing this fandom is. We draw beautiful art, we write beautiful literature, we sing beautiful songs, and we create EPIC games. All the while while helping many organizations and making the world a better place. No other fandom in the history of humanity has done this much, in such a relatively short life, mind you!

Every day I am more and more proud to call myself a brony.

For the love of my mother and my sisters! This...this...uhm...what is it...this...this fandom is the vastest and the most swashbuckling fandom I've ever seen! I'm proud to be a part of it.

The arts, the fanfics, the musics, the...the...games. Well, what can I say?

An MMORPG soon. Three months to finish my study and an MMORPG for sure. *evil laugh* We will sail over the world!
Drink up me hearties yo ho~

This is a big deal and MLP:FIM is a chance for both communities. Right now the FGC (fighting game community) is facing the fact that we are growing old, not too many new young players come to the community and this can turn into a death sentence for us. MLP:FIM will bring a complete new plethora of players that may or may not be into fighting games now but they can grow liking into the genre with this game.

Also even some of the players are ranting about a game about pastel ponies is on EVO is a safe bet to take more than 60% of the FGC as potential fans of MLP they love, cartoon, Si-Fi, fantasy, comics and all that stuff that makes you a potential fan of MLP. I for a close member of both communities see this as a very interesting situation with a good amount of hype potential.

(On a unrelated note i was about to post the same exact news but a little less detailed XD )

Wow this game is getting tons of publicity isn't it? First we see it getting on GameSpot's page and now we see it at Evo 2013! I honestly think this game is in fact getting over-hyped and now almost every brony expects this game with high expectations which may or may not pressure the developers into rushing or anything of the like.

I honestly have never been keeping close tabs on Evo but now since ponies are involved i'll keep a close eye on it.

Breaking news. (this hype is making me feel like and junky), Mane6 the developers of the game finaly gave out their official statement and FAQ about MLP:FIM run for Evo 2013. They are taking this like gentlemen and making this fan feel proud.

The link is here.

That post looks and sounds very professional and well thought out. The fact that the donations that they should be getting if voted for kinda irritates me a bit but regardless im getting both excited and proud that the community is doing so well.

Hopefully the game itself will interest young ones and help out the FGC.

Mane6 doesn't accept donations anyway, and none of the other games that could be voted for get any of the voting donation money either. I personally doubt that the game could beat out the big name competitors they have for that last slot, but I also would have personally doubted that they would even make it to the voting stage, personally doubted that the game would ever reach a polished state at all, and heck, personally would have doubted that My Little Pony would become a global phenomenon among a wide variety of ages and both genders in the first place, so compared to what's already been accomplished maybe the chances aren't so slim.
