im still fairly new here, but ill weight in on my thoughts. ive moderated a few forums in the past, so i know the process and how you should run a forum. i was pleasantly impressed with this forum's staff, as they seem to do their duties without being intrusive, like you know theyre out there, but they use a soft touch to handle things. might have alot to do with the community as well, since everyone is good to each other and hostile arguments dont arise too often.

cant really complain about that, can we?

Wait, there's moderation?

Lol, in all seriousness, I have no problem with it.

Only problem I ever had was a post I had removed without being told why, but the way I worded the post was rather harsh and possibly offensive.

While the staff has generally been really awesome here, there are a couple issues that seem to be becoming more and more apparent as of late.  And admittedly, this is due in part to the fact that the site is becoming larger, as the member base grows.

I think way too many topics get closed that don't need to be closed on the grounds that there's 'little in the way of discussion'.  And they seem to have that 'automated message' as a response by the mod.  If a topic has 15 or 16 replies to it in a couple days, logically speaking, that must mean there's a conversation happening.  And when the response is that the topic contains 'little in the way of discussion', that's the same as saying it's a spam topic, and it isn't always so.

And I'm not talking about the topics that already exist or the ones that were answered in canon.  Those, I don't have a problem with, because there's already a topic there and you can reply to said topic.  I mean the ones that specifically have this message.  Many of them I agree with.  Many, I do not.  I've seen that message come up on really good topics that actually have good debates happening because the question is open-ended.  Topics that ask open-ended questions or seem to be generating alot of good replies shouldn't be considered spam topics, since there is some degree of discussion going on, and the replies have to be relegated to more than a simple 'yes' or 'no' answer.

Also, the whole support ticket thing really bugs me.  Don't get me wrong.  I understand WHY it was implemented, in theory.  But here's the thing.  If someone asks a question about something, is it really too much to simply answer it on that topic?  Seems like it's less work in the long run than asking them to open a 'support ticket' to get the question answered, since not only do you have to make a post telling them to do that, but then you also have to make another post answering the support ticket, whereas if you just answered the question in the topic, you could resolve the issue in one post.  Seems less time consuming this way.

Well, judging from my past experiences here I haven't seen many things wrong with the mods sure mods have changed over the months but, I feel they are professional and handle what they do. I feel safe knowing i'm not going to be attacked by trolls too :P
