Avatar: TLA is the best animated TV show and possibly the best TV show ever, and it's the only other fandom I was ever in. I used to make Avatar characters like Zuko on other character from other shows like Sonic (a Zuko hedgehog). I would actually stay off school when a new episode was out just so I could watch it. I was really really sad when it ended, especially with how much was left untold and how much more they could add to it. Avatar: TOK was okay for it's first season, wasn't better than TLA but I wasn't expecting it to be so it's all good. Now just waiting on the second season.

Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of my all-time favorite cartoons! Legend of Korra is a little farther behind, but still one of my faves, too. One of the biggest reasons why I adored the show was they had really awesome, strong and powerful female characters. It's still quite uncommon to see women and girls fighting and kicking serious ass in movies and TV in the US. But this show didn't have just one awesome female character, it had several: Katara, Suki, Toph, Azula, Ty-Lee, Mai, Korra, Asami and soooo many other awesome ladies!

 

My favorite Katara scene was when she was in the Northern Water Tribe city and Pakku told her he wouldn't train her because women did healing, not fighting. AND SHE SMACKED HIM UPSIDE THE HEAD WITH A WATER WHIP WHEN HE WALKED RIGHT PAST HER AND IGNORED HER AND I WAS LIKE, "YESSSSS GIRL, YOU SHOW HIM!" I was so excited when she took him on and held her own.

So glad someone started this thread. I've only started Avatar: The last Airbender a few weeks ago, but I'm already finished with that and completely caught up with The Legend of Korra. It's really one of the best shows western animation has to offer. Those three seasons of Avatar are such a well constructed balance between character development, plot development, and world building. It's tough to say, but MLP may be relegated to my #2 US cartoon. Of course that may very easily swing back once season 4 starts...

 

By the way, you might want to either spell out "The last Airbender/Legend of Korra" or include the full name in the tags, otherwise people might have trouble finding this thread...

Since this cartoon seems to be pretty popular around here, I decided to make a thread specifically dedicated to it.

 

Probably one of the best cartoons in existence (and one I consider much better than MLP), Avatar: The Last Airbender is a very popular show on Nickelodeon. There's a lot to talk about with over sixty episodes, and you can talk about anything: favorite characters, ships, episodes, whatever. It's content heavy, yet simple enough for a person of any age to understand. If you haven't watched Avatar yet, I suggest you do so. It's plain epic.

 

I was compelled to watch the show by a friend, and despite being skeptical over the first few episodes, I found that it hooked me in around episode 3. I finished the entire show in two days–– it was just that good. I can probably declare this my favorite cartoon, despite it being rather underrated around here, overshadowed by MLP (duh) and shows such as South Park and Family Guy. 

 

Anyway, my best pone is Zuzu, the hot guy (lel see wut i did ther) and I also like Toph and Iroh (because who damn wouldn't?). Beyond that, I don't really have a preference or an order. I love pretty much all the characters in Avatar–– they all have their quirks. So now it's your turn. Discuss Avatar: The Last Airbender!

I loved Avatar the Last Airbender, it was such an awesome show. =D Loved the concepts they had with the different bending styles and I loved the character development. Lol and thank goodness they didn't make Sokka into a serious character, he's (for me) the funniest character in the show. xD

This show really got me to fall in love with it quickly, the character development was exquisite, the animation is stellar, and the episodes have interesting concepts with them. My favorite character would have to be Zuko, love the whole gang along with Iroh though.

I'm just getting started with Book 2 right now, and so far it's excellent. The characters are charming, the world is wonderfully well realized and the action sequences continually impress me with their choreography and general inventiveness. This is far beyond what I expected from a cartoon on Nickelodeon, and I'm looking forward to the rest. 

 

My favorite character at the moment is Iroh. The guy just makes me smile. Zuko's story is probably the most emotionally gripping in the show though.

Iroh is definitely my favorite character, he can be pretty funny, but he's also one of the show's deepest and likeable characters and you really feel for him. "The Tale of Iroh" in particular was heartbreaking ;_;

Avatar is a great series. I love the world. It has tons of neat places, and characters. 

 

The Legend of Korra is pretty awesome so far. I can't wait for the next season.

I love this show . Stellafera introduced me to it last summer after I (in typical fashion) was years behind the times and hadn't seen any of it. The animation, humor, storytelling, character development, and just general quality are virtually unrivaled in most any other show I've watched. Definitely worth a try, or several . Currently going through it again slowly with some friends.

 

My favorite character's gotta be Zuko. His family, his country and even the universe seemed to hate his guts for more or less his entire life, and you've gotta admire how he still didn't let all of that get to him and grew into a great man and friend too. Azula and Sokka are up there too of course. Azula for being one of the best villains I've ever seen, with an incredibly tragic and fascinating story, and Sokka for being incredibly entertaining, hilarious and for always finding a way to do his part.

And The Last Airbender movie really ruined the show for me. It was like a piece of turd and Coca-Cola blended together with oranges in a blender and then poured in a lake and someone drank it.

But General Iroh crying over his dead son? It is simply impossible for me to sit through that without collapsing on the floor and crying.

Did anyone ever watch Avatar the last air bender, the whole series? I did. And I liked it a lot more then I have been liking the Legend of Kora! Feel free to tell me all your thoughts on this! I would LOVE to hear them  .

Yep, I've seen and own the whole series of Avatar: The Last Airbender.  I also love The Legend of Korra.  I find season three of Korra to be the best season of both shows so far.  It's just a shame Nickelodeon seems to not care for the series enough to give it time in the spot light.  But hey, at least we get to see more Sponge Bob reruns!  Right?
