Just finished watching "Simple Ways". Like, I love Rares and Rares-centric episodes, but that one kinda felt like a f*** up.

 

I also got to watch Rarity Takes Manehattan recently. Not as good as Suited for Success or Sweet and Elite, but still solid and full of Rarity.

Rarity Takes Manehattan was one of her finest yet!! Not only her best episode yet, but the best episode of the whole series! (although, those are my second and third favorite episodes of the series I can see you liked them so much )

Also, Simple Ways wasn't one of her best, but one I found enjoyment in nonetheless

And you're sure welcome to. I was gonna go on about how much I loved AJ in Simple Ways, but this ain't really the thread for that.

 

I might have seen a bit too much analysis before I watched Rarity Takes Manehattan, but I just didn't like her characterization. I mean I get that her self-absorbedness and her generosity aren't mutually exclusive, but to me the episode didn't really seeeeem like a lesson she should have to learn. I mean especially after Suited for Success.

 

Actually, typing all that out made me realize that Takes Manehattan was just Suited for Success backwards.

 

It's kind of like how Rainbow Dash episodes that center around loyalty always start out with her pretty much forgetting what that word means. Like, you're the fucking Element OF LOYALTY. You should at least pretend like you know what that means.

I wasn't even digging on the Apple Jewel. That scene where Trenderhoof is like idolizing her and they made her all WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY inappropriate for a kids show? ::drool::

I felt like that was the weakest part of the ep personally. Its like, every time we have an episode about Rainbow's loyalty trait, we have to start by throwing it out the window so that she can remember that's how she's supposed to behave. Like, wtf why do you have that element anyways? Give it back to Applejack.

(They obviously needed to kiss and make up) Even though I did dislike the bit of bickering about who the better friend is I like how in the end the both of them got each-other a gift and accepted it. Though the reasons they bought the gifts themselves were a bit silly as well but oh well what can they do?...I demand they kiss....

yea i guess but i kind of have a "problem" i dont usually dislike an episode that much just because i love the show so much i dont really find a good enough reason in my head to say "well thats crappy writing" i agree with you i just need to not love EVERYTHING that hasbro makes
