Favorite albums of 2013 (so far)?

I've been trying my hardest to keep up with the stream of new albums and other releases that have and will come out this year, and I was wondering if anyone else has as well. I have a list of all the stuff I want to or have already heard on this website called Rate Your Music:

http://rateyourmusic.com/list/TheEverythingLover/albums_and_other_such_releases_that_graced__or_will_grace__my_ears_in_2013_

That website is great if you're a music nerd in any degree.

Anyway, my favorite releases at the time of this thread's inception (early February) are This Town Needs Guns' "13.0.0.0.0..."

as well as And So I Watch You From Afar's "All Hail Bright Futures."

These artists are doing great things in the independent music sphere.

I also heard stuff from Skrillex, A$AP Rocky, Milo, and Cult of Luna that I thought were either worth mentioning or completely awesome. I would appreciate some feedback and responses from the rest of you.

Well, to be honest, I haven't heard of any albums yet this year. I guess I'm listening to too mainstream music. Anyway, I don't have any favorite albums of 2013 so far.

Hmm, not sure. There's been a few releases I've liked but no albums yet.

I'm super excited for this album, though:

<Atlas Genius>

It comes out on the 19th, so I'm gonna rush to get it. *laughs*

Might look into this. Kind of poppy for my tastes, but I'm open to just about anything (within limits).

Another favorite of mine this year is the new Yo La Tengo album, "Fade."

I'm not usually into that sort of thing, but I really like their other two songs ("Symptoms" and "Back Seat").

That's just their most popular.

I'm hoping for some more Gregory Alan Isakov.

Fucking Pink Flame. #wow #rare

Just came out today, AOTY.

Also, I like the new My Bloody Valentine and The Underacheivers. It's been a long time coming, Kevin.

<Lil B>

Underachivers is solid so far, yes. But I see Lil B as a complete joke, so... yeah.

New MBV is something that I have plans to check out eventually. They're one of those bands that I appreciate more for their influence than their actual music. "Loveless" is fantastic and all, but there's much more that I like more.

Bad Religion recently released their new album 'True North', and that so far is probably my favourite as of 2013. It's still pretty early, so I'll probably change my favourite sooner or later

As of right now my favorite album is Emancipator - Dusk to Dawn. A good iteration and outstanding production quality. There are other albums I'm looking forward to but this is an excellent start.

Oh god, that new My Bloody Valentine was pretty good. In all seriousness, it is an AOTY contender. Better than LongLive, Indigoism, and Pink Flame for sure. And that new Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds leaked, so I have to listen to that.

Hmmm....the new Cult Of Luna sounds promising, I've only heard a few of the tracks from Vertikal, but I think that so far it'll be a good one

Still waiting on the new Depeche Mode, Daft Punk, Dream Theater, Tegan And Sara, and How To Destroy Angels albums to be released, can't wait to hear them. It seems as if 2013 might be a really good year for music

Release the Panic by RED. (LOL Christian music, what is she, retarded?) Yeah, yeah, it's Christian music, but give it a chance. It never once mentions God, nor Jesus, nor any other religious icon. Only a couple of the songs allude to the existence of God, and the allusion is quite vague.

Now that we've got that crap out of the way... The album is a deviation from RED's usual musical style. It's not a huge difference, but you can tell they've changed. The change is for the better, though, as their newest album is one of the best albums I've heard in a long time.

Comparison:

Song from RED's first album:

Song from their newest release:

Pretty big change, but a very good one.
