I think we can all admit the pony bums are cute... But... Not everyone makes that transition from "They are cute" and "I want to tap that". These characters are meant to be appealing and lovable, but lovable in which way is something that varies A LOT between both sides of the fandom.

I have to be totally honest here, the subject of "clopping" and "cloppers" makes me a little uncomfortable.  Frankly, I wonder why there's the interest. 

 

However, as long as you're doing it discreetly and not bugging me about it, it's no skin off my nose.  I may personally think it's weird, but you know what?  I've probably looked at and enjoyed stuff (including r34 stuff) that others think is weird too.  So I say live and let live.  Life's too short to worry about other people's sexual interests.

I'd say the "dark side" is more due to personalities than interests. I mean, I've seen people who are into some...interesting things who are absolutely stellar people. Aaaand I've seen a good number of rotten apples that weren't into anything strange.

 

You do hear horror stories about certain big names who happen to be clop artists, yeah, but I've seen some really kind people who just happened to draw grimdark and clop, no big deal. I mean, it's worth pointing too that just because you like that stuff doesn't mean you get off on it.

 

So yeah, I wasn't mad or anything, I guess I was more confused as to why this topic was created in the first place considering the wide range of fans who frequent the forum.

This is incredibly sadning to hear, and it's coming from a clopper, and a well known member. I and many others on this forum are cloppers, and we've never had a problem about this on the forums before. Rule 34 exists big fuckitty wooping doo. Uhh, why do you even care? They're not a big deal at all. They find ponies sexually attracting to make porn of them and masturbate to them as well. I'm not fan of clopping (I prefer cute ponies over sexy ponies, myself), but I sure as hell won't hate anyone for doing it. To do so is quite silly. Not my business unless it's made my business, really.

Maybe it's about time that we just make one thread called "Clop Discussion General" or something, so that we can condense all this discussion into one thread. I don't think it should be a place to post art (unless there's a way to age-restrict the thread or something), but it could be a place to discuss the philosophy (if that's the right word for something like this) of clop.

 

If this whole conversation can be summed up in one thought, it's this: Like anything sexual, keep it behind closed doors and respect the comfort zones of everypony, no matter what side of the issue they are on.

Well, MLP FiM porn is just furry porn. I have friends who are furries. I don't really see how it's the dark side of the fandom, I see them more as the furries who enjoy the porn, especially due to the good graphics of the ponies.

 

I guess people kinda get labelled cloppers because the show IS intended for children, and the whole concept sounds weird to most people. But I don't think the pony furries are gonna be dying anytime soon

I feel like I missed something rather important here, but since I don't like getting into fierce and bitter back-and-forths, I don't feel like jumping in.

 

The dark side of the fandom to me includes:

1 - Those who obnoxiously push ponies onto EVERYONE they meet, EVERYWHERE

2 - Those who whine about every little thing that they don't like about the show and scream that the show is jumping the shark and WHY CAN'T WE HAVE LAUREN FAUST BAAACK

3 - Those who consider fanon = canon and flip their shit when their favourite pairing isn't explicitly endorsed by everyone ever, or when a background character gets a canon role that doesn't match their headcanon, or whatever

 

And even then, I hope we don't see any of these groups leave the fandom, because even as annoying as they are to me, a fandom has to me made up of incredible diversity, therefore we need all kinds of people to keep it strong.

 

I'm 100% fine with fetishists and cloppers; I have weird fetishes myself but I'm NOT gonna go into that here.
